Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

2.)Does it break your enjoyment of Star Trek due that percentage of Canon?
3.) Why are you trolling the STO player base?
4.) Why bring up Canon again on the forums?
5.) Why, in the name that is holy, a poll?
I made a mistake by voting in a poll, can i rescind please? I thought it was legit until i saw ninja turtles. I should have known better.
the poll is legit and the star trek ninja turtles are a real thing santioned by CBS or paramount
But not canon.

some people say anything officially santioned by CBS or paramount is canon. that is what some peopel say about this game. So im asking how much canon is STO in comparison to those other things.
And they would also be wrong. The licence is to produce official Star Trek material not for said material to be canon. That is reserved for the films and TV series alone.
STO is licenced but not canon.

I would honestly say it's about exactly as much canon as the novels. Like the novels, it's fully licensed and approved by the IP holders and later creators are legally free to use concepts and elements of it for later screen works. However, also like the novels, it isn't binding on later screen works the way earlier screen works are. Thus, it's a form of secondary canon rather like the old Star Wars Extended Universe used to be.
Right now? This is the only canon we have that is current and being updated and built on in any real way. If you're a Trek fan looking to engage with Trek content that isn't aging film and screen material, it's this or pretty much nothing considering that the reboot films aren't canon to the Prime timeline at all.
I agree that it is as much canon as the novels, and would have selected that. STO is created by the official makers of Star Trek (Paramount?) so I would have to say the story arcs are official cannon to some degree
As is my custom, I voted against the slant in a biased poll. One "It's Canon" choice, one "It's Not Canon" choice and one sarcastic "Not Canon"? So, I voted that it is Canon, but...

...I am not one of "those people." In fact, it should be pointed out that there are people who think the moon is made of cheese, it does not make it so.
The STO Universe is as canon as the Prime Universe, Novel Universe, and the Kelvin Universe since Star Trek supports the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. As far as importance goes, the Prime Universe is the most important followed by the Kelvin Universe with the STO Universe and Novel Universe trailing behind the Kelvin Universe.

STO is as canon as most of the other games that have been made.
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
OP, I have to ask why there is no option for "as canon as the novels or comics".
Like Pocket Books' novels, or IDW's comics, STO presents an internally coherent storyline which expands on the "core" canon presented in the shows and films. These differ from the above-mentioned novelty one shots (such as the one where Spock beats down on Wolverine...) in that they offer an extended storyline.
Also like those other sources, they don't bind future series.

Wolverine can take a hit (indestructible skelly + heal powers)
Spock can give a hit (strength of what? over 10 men for a Vulcan?)
so, yeah. Can see Spock knocking the crud out of Wolvie. But can see Wolverine just keep coming back for more.
(FYI: new wolverine movie coming out in 2017. Deals with the 'end of all mutants'. Has girl wolverine in it, and Wolverine looks a hell of a lot like the Weapon-X automation from the Wolverine Saga comics.)
For me it is at best as canon as the Kelvin Timeline. Should anything onscreen take place in the Prime universe at a time equivalent to STO, it can be argued that anything in books or gameplay occurs in a timeline parallel to the Prime universe.
So for me it lies somewhere between proper canon and "turtle canon".
STO is as canon as "Spock's Brain" and Star Trek V but not as canon as "Pigs In Space."
That's hard canon. Every work of Star Trek is bound to it.

Oh, and why, oh why is there this sudden need for ASCII decorations in thread titles?
I have nothing positive to say about that.
