New German scoop: CE event

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Why does the German forums get news before we do?

Anyways... interesting that we're apparently getting a ground weapon now, and a non standard damage type to boot. Radiation damage. Might be interesting to play with.

How much can you go by the DPS number on the tool tip picture? Because if 67 DPS is correct that's lousy.
Either way I'll run it for the Dil and marks...

Keep in mind that radiation is a damage type to which there is little resistance so it's raw deeps with full shield penetration.

Not on the PS4 it's not. I may not have looked recently, but we did just have a Crystalline event so having another so soon would be a little odd.

Radiation damage for a ground weapon... that's probably going to be very OP in combination with the Temporal spec tree.

And it looks like another weapon that's going to completely ignore shields. If that's the case, then that's another mistake imo.

But unlike the TR-116 and the Mirror Shotgun, the Borg can adapt to it so it is not a Borg killer. If they can adapt to Hyperonic, they can adapt to this. Now... against everything else in the game it would be useful, and frankly PvP is pretty much dead.

So... the question now is... what does it look like? Are we gonna be wielding a crystal sword or a crystal rifle? :D

I don't PvP, but I still believe that adding stuff that entirely ignores one of the most important mechanisms is somewhat problematic. Especially when there's no drawback like you have with running a melee build.

As for the visuals... I hope it will shoot mini-crystal fragments or something :p

The only widely available shield piercing weapon that anyone and everyone can get at any time is the TR-116B. The main drawback to it is it is a sniper rifle, so high damage but low fire rate. Not everyone is interested in that combination. Also the fact that the shield pen mods are fixed means some of the DPSers can't min/max as effectively as they could with, say, a Kelvin Rifle with ALL desirable mods.
The shotgun was a mirror event reward, and thus not as widely available. I still get some questions whenever I whip that baby out for fun. While not as good at shield pen, as I have noticed that physical damage seems to still hit shields even with a significant inate shield pen, it is still one of the best anti-Borg weapons, only surpassed by the TR-116.

This radiation weapon will be effective against many targets, but there are ways to resist radiation damage, such as EV suits. And I think Tholians might not be affected as much or at all due to their unique nature. So this weapon has more give/take than the previous two I mentioned.

But it should be pretty efficient against the elachi.

We won't know until someone gets a hold of one and beats an Elachi upside the head with it.

Give them a taste of the Cold Fusion Flash first, then it doesn't matter too much about the fire rate.

I have a radiation build for ground on one of my science characters and i often see whole groups of elachi dying with shield intact, but as you said we won't know for sure until we've wrecked the first elachi with it.

    This isnt a scoop.
    A) since the console kids were talking about their CC event it when we werent having one it was a heads up we could be expecting one. Since our last was last spring or so. We were due.

B] It was on the tribble calendar for a bit before it came to the holodeck calendar last week.

The prizes are getting more meh. The dil and marks seem to be more a motivator for me.

I could see them using the Vorgon ground crystal ground weapon that is gotten from Vorgon conclusion mission, but with a slightly altered design an coloration, and still I think would not be a bad choice at all really. I was personally hoping we might see them give us a mini-crystalline entity hanger-pet, or as far fetched as it would be a Tholian boff would have been pretty interesting.

With how quick the CC ques finish I am though hoping we see a update/revamp to it come with this event, and make the que a bit more interesting to play thru. Hell seeing the Tholians in the mission/que/stf actually use their abilities to aid the Entity would be cool, such as healing it or using the Tholian web barrier/encase to block players from attacking it, as well as things like the Entity might gain a boost to it's Hp/resistances/damage based on the groups of Tholians in the mission would be interesting too.

The DPS are propably before adding Traits bonuses, besides with the DOT effect added it will build up nice...
And the scoop is not about here being the Event, but what the main reward is...

And standard big question/plea to Devs - is there a chance to turn all the shines from such events (past, present and future) to turn into account unlocks?

    Edit:
Uh... i just looked at it closer... the DOT effect is after every shoot, but it last 5 secs., so does that mean, that the DOT will stack if we will start shooting it... after all i did not see yet any groud weapons with main attck cooldown 5 secs.

While the event itself is not a scoop (since it was on the test server's calender for quite some time), the specifics of the rewards are news
