No thanks on the graphics changes. My game looks like junk now. So much so, I'm just tempted to play it on the XBOX from now on because it looks horrible on my PC, and no amount of tweaking is fixing it. Those of us without DX11 got the shaft.
My kits are gone from my alts, as in completely gone (no where to find). Can't even scan those Gekli pods with a cruiser coz that thing flies like an escort. Great job, as usual from Craptic.
Yup lost all my kit modules that were equipped *sigh*
They pop up in your inventory when you move to another sector (beta to alpha, for example). Well, that was my experience.
When patching is finished and I can log in, they'd best, otherwise I'm going to be unhappy with a member of the dev team since it was on their word alone - that kits and modules would be in inventory or overflow - that I didn't run through and unequip all my characters last night...

I have the same issue, the graphics post patch look terrible, but the game also displays no text, and half of the icons and UI are missing. Rebooted, repatched, Safemode, nothings sorts it. The game is unplayable for me at the moment.

/renderscale "1.0"
That reset did more than just reset the usual graphics settings. By the way, those using the dx9 option on the launcher can turn it off now. The crashes were fixed also. From what I hear, that graphics defaulting is setting the renderscale to 0.4 for people.
DX9 has nothing to do with this Patch, it just very poor.
I am thinking that the admin are expecting more revenue from PS and Xbox layers so forget the PC users.
Snapping STO's window on Win 10 got me in trouble. Had to learn quick hot to edit games.pref to get the window unstuck from the corner where I couldn't move it.

on the laptop it seems to work fine after readjusting the renderingscale to 1 again.
but on my desktop... no game... starting the launcher -> logging in -> patching > engage -> no game (no traces left in the taskmanager even)
I tried this in windowed, fullscreen and safemode of the launcher settings...
and playing on the laptop is a no go... a 12" screen isn't working for gaming imho
Missing gear, buggy fleet holding, and the game suddenly looks like garbage. Why I keep getting my hopes up that maybe "this time it'll be different", I'll never know. Yet another critical fail for the Cryptic Dev team.
Seeing the rising amounts of issues being reportedwith regard to the graphics update I am really scared to see whats in store for me once I finish patching the massive 8 gig+!!! I hope the OFF button works!!
Tried on my laptop and getting the same issues as everyone else with text being missing. Tried the renderscale trick with no success as far (which is challenging cause I can't see any text at all).
The desktop, can't even get the game running. Patched up loaded and briefly saw the graphics reset screen before the game crashed to the Cryptic error tracker (no error code given, just say's requesting which eventually converts to Unknown) with a Fatal Error box saying Fatal Error: Hog file incorrect/unreadable version*:7, first time around it then proceeded to force verify the installation (haven't started again as yet).
Didn't have any issues when I'd tried Tribble on the desktop after the last patch, so not sure what's going on.

Been getting the same problem that you have on your desktop. Crashes on the Cryptic screen, then force verifies on reopening the launcher. Guess I shouldn't be surprised an update like this broke the game.
Aren't closed test launches wonderful? This LoR or DR type launch situation could have been avoided with open testing. Without fail, every single time, the buggiest launches are the closed ones.
Expect a patch tomorrow, Thursday, or heck, both days.

Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
They're in your inventory.
edit: never mind, a few erboots fixed that.

It is fine on Tribble, but on Holodeck it is a blurry mess even on max settings!!!

Sorry techs but this is very poor, unplayable even.

1) Go to your "Star Trek Online\Live\Localdata" folder and open Gameprefs.Pref (open in Notepad)
2) Find the line "PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType Direct3D9"
3) Delete Direct3D9, so the line now reads "PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType"
4) Relaunch the game, see if it's fixed.
It's worked on my laptop (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650), so hopefully will sort others out.
