not spending money till x1/ps4 bugs are fixed

i've been thinking bout buying some zen to get the klingon race for federation and to invest in a t6 ship. i love this game but with the amout bugs that are in this game. like the mini map not working proberly. having to log in&out cause i can't talk to a npc cause of sever d-synch, being unable to turn quests, audio bugs. it feels like it's in beta and that it was rushed out for the 50th anniversary of star trek. plus the game has been out for 1month and we haven't even got a x1/ps4 forum yet. i would support and send money on this game but with the current state the console version is in i don't wanna

That's so cute. Let me just say that you might be waiting a really long time for bug fixes. There are bugs on the pc version that have been around for years. Not to mention that every large update or expansion ends up breaking things.

I was playing the console version with a friend yesterday and didn't experience a whole lot of bugs on Xbox one. The problem with fixing bugs is that it's hard to fix them if it's a bug that not everyone is experiencing. If you've ever experienced QA at work, they go through the following:

-Identification of bug (usually through people reporting it)
-Steps needed to Reproduce the bug
-Once they have identified and reproduced the bug, they send it off for fixing to a dev that is able to fix it.
-Once they think they've fixed it, it has to come back to QA to make sure it is internally.
-Finally, patch with said fix in the game.

You have to remember that QA is a small team of people that playtest the content, so they will miss bugs that may make it over to the live server.

I really need to try the console version one day to see if it's as bad as everyone makes it out to me. My guess is that it isn't.

I have it installed on my XBox One, but just can't bring myself to go all the way back to square one.

As for the bugs, I'll give them a little leeway on the console release, as the OP said, it's only been a month. Still, I do agree that not even having a separate forum is an amazing display of laziness on the part of Cryptic. If they can't spare someone to spend 1 hour setting up a forum, it really doesn't instill a feeling of confidence in the player base that more extensive issues will ever be addressed.
    Insert witty signature line here.

I really don't think it's as bad as you describe op. I also play on PS4 and since the patch on Thursday I think things are pretty good. I have no problems beside the occasional need to relog but that's rare and takes no time. Seriously man it is definitely not any worse then any other MMO out there. And definitely way better then TESO.

That is certainly a reasonable way to deal with such issues, IMO. But remember, if it's free, you're the product - for an F2P game, non-paying players are still serving as content for the paying players. Though I think if you keep to solo play, avoid interaction with players and the Exchange(s), you should be good and still enjoy the game.

I still kinda feel that this is by intent. There are a ton of questions console players have that PC players are able to answer. Technical details on the console not so much, but about general mechanics, story. By keeping it all in one forum they make all the Veteran knowledge from the PC players available to the console players.

I play on the PS4 also and concur with Hellcatx. Biggest issue I have currently is I can't apply a second outfit to my Romulan captain. No big deal. I have five characters, one in each faction so far enjoying the game and the stories. Has me thinking I might even purchase a Romulan ship down the road.

STO is an MMO. There is no such thing as a bug free MMO. It is CONSTANTLY evolving, and new bugs happen all the time. Even the king of MMOs, World of WarCraft, has bugs. They just happen to have a bigger bug squishing team. At least STO has scheduled patching once a week so you know exactly when a patch is coming.

If you want to support the game, go ahead. But demanding that everything be fixed before you do isn't going to solve anything.

As a highly experienced MMO player, and someone that plays this on the X1, yes there are some glaring bugs, but as of right now, there is just ONE "game-breaking" bug (Turn rate slower than it should be) that is going to be patched very shortly.

There are dozens of much smaller glitches/bugs in game, and one or two quest glitches that do have work-arounds if you know about them, and follow things in the correct order.

There are no bugs in this game. Just glitches that are almost working as intended.

    It's never a bug, only a feature!

The 'no-forums' excuse is a poor one to cite, based on the fact that it took more than a month for the console Neverwinter versions to get their own forums.

Welcome to STO and the stuff we PC players have been screaming about for years.
  • morgueragemorguerage Member Posts: 54 Arc User
Nobody cares about the money you will or will not spend. However, there is a decent list of gamebreaking bugs and absolutely frustrating glitches which makes a post like yours reasonably expected. The problem is that most of them affect new players, specifically Klingons more than any other faction and the new lvl 50+ Romulan players get to experience some fresh bugs for not joining day 1. Missing promotional ships, traits, etc. It is rather sad that so many players will or have had a horrible time due to these and other bugs. They won't be coming back either.

Don't hold your breath on timely fixes. The PC players warned you.
