is it just me or does this sound like we wont be getting a cardassian or dominion faction because they wouldnt be putting these ships in teh box if they were going to have the factions?

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I would say the chances are pretty good that the fourth faction would be smaller than the KDF or the RR. Just from the C-Store perspective, that means ships sold for that faction would pale in comparison to the Fed, and will be lower than either the KDF or RR. That boils down to the fact that sales of "4th Faction" ship will not justify the cost to develop and test them. If the net revenue from ships do not meet a certain profit margin, then the money used to bring those ships to the C-Store could have been used on other aspects of the game.
If a new faction has a good chance of bringing in new players, then it would be worth the effort. If the new faction only really appeals to some of the current player base, then it is likely not worth the effort. Current players are only willing to spend so much on the game (many aren't willing to even spend anything) because they only earn so much money and can only devote so much time to the game. A 4th faction would simply increase the chances of cannibalized C-Store sales.
For example, if a person can only afford to spend $60 on STO for an entire year, then adding a fourth faction will not cause that person to spend anymore money. So instead of purchasing a T6 Fed and KDF starship, that person may instead purchase a T6 Fed and "4th Faction" starship. Cryptic still made $60 off of that player, but they also increased the cost of developing the game because a 4th Faction and it's ships have development expenses.
Give it some time before jumping off a cliff or anything. There's no official word on the next lockbox for PC yet.
Probably not. We already know that things from previous boxes go in the Infinity Box. Like I said, we may see a Dominion Box 2, kinda like how we have 2 different Xindi boxes. But until we get an official Dev Blog that pertains to PC... I'm not willing to say that it will be so.
Don't forget that the console players won't have the access to all the shiny lockbox stuff we have on PC immediately. We've had MANY lockboxes. This will be their FIRST.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
I'll also call it here: if there's a new fleet holding, it will be in the Gamma Quadrant. I'm only a bit disappointed that i still have not opened the old Dominion boxes so far; I guess that gives me a reason to buy some discounted Zen...

Considering these same ships were in a Lockbox on the PC version years ago, I wouldn't read anything more into things one way or the other. Besides you do realize the PC and Console versions are 100% separate from each other, right? (The Console version will be launching with all the content up to and including season 11 - with the current PC content to come to Consoles later.)
PWE ARC Drone says: "Your STO forum community as you have known it is ended...Display names are irrelevant...Any further sense of community is irrelevant...Resistance is futile...You will be assimilated..."
It's funny, You expressed something I've been suspecting.
Hope we're wrong.
Nope you won't be. The more people express a want for something (T6 Connie/JJ Prise) the more likely it will be in Lock/R&D box.
Actually @crypticarmsman
The T6 ships are not something we have on PC. Everything else, yes. But not the actual prize ships. We have a T5 JH Carrier from the old Dominion Box. Their's is a T6. We have a T5 Galor from the very first lockbox. They're getting a T6 Keldon.
Visa versa, for the Dominion ships. The T5 Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier was the one we got to gamble on, while the T5 Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier was in our Lobi Store. Looks like they flipped it around for the Cardassian-Dominion Lock Box.
Based on the images shown, I rather hope there's a means of making the hull materials a bit less shiny... they look kind of "plastic-y" in the exemplars. Heh, at the very least they'd be excellent candidates for equipping the Jem'Hadar Shield in the Visuals slot.
So really the console version is *the mirror universe*! /tinfoil
Short answer: No.
Long answer: as others have pointed out, this Dominion-Cardassian lock box is the FIRST lock box the CONSOLES are getting. In addition to the ships, it includes items already packaged in the Dominion and Cardassian lock boxes added way back. This doesn't change anything with respect to what species should be available to players (though Alien can replicate both Cardies and Vorta.)
There is no word yet if and how the new T6 ships will be added to STO PC, but you can be sure that news will be made publicly available through the news feed should there be developments.

Are you sure about that? The latest console dev blog sounds like that is not true.
It sounds like consoles won't get a lot of content at launch that we have taken granted for years. Of course, it could be debated that only mission content is content.
This lockbox is just a continuation of the Mirror Incursion Lockbox that we got with the Tarantula and Paradox ships. We still have Tier 6 versions of the Tal Shiar Adapted ships, Voth ships, Hirogen ships, and Undine ships to add to the game.
As it is, the game claims to have 4 factions but really has only 2. The Romulan Faction is a 'half faction' at best and the Temporal Recruits aren't anything more then a Fed with a different tutorial.
The only other full faction other then Federation is the Klingon Faction and it's so badly neglected it's unreal.
I'll support another faction as soon as Cryptic proves they can support a 2nd one.
If they go through the full progression it'll be interesting on the PC side to see if they, say, just update the infinity lock box or take these specific ships' T5-U upgrade to T6.

Sorry to poke a hole in your theory, but they didn't update the old Jem'Hadar Attack Ship to T6 Recon/Strike Ships. They made an entirely new ship that could use the old T5 Bugship skin. So no, they won't just take the T5s and make them T6s, because then they'd have to do it for all the existing ones, and thus... no reason to put them in a lockbox to fund the game.

Me too. And it would be interesting if the Keldon was able to look like the Galor, and give access to the Spiral Wave Disruptors. Although the T6 Jem Dread having the same console as the T5... might be an issue.
The point (which now carries a ) was that IF CRYPTIC WAS GOING TO GRADUALLY UPDATE ALL EXISTING T5 LOCK BOX SHIPS TO T6 FOR THE CONSOLES there's A FEW ways they could go about an update EACH INDIVIDUAL SHIP to the PC. They could RELEASE THESE NEW SHIPS AS UPDATES TO THE INFINITY LOCK BOX (for new acquisitions, there's no argument to make for an updated Dominion-Cardie lock box on the PC because hardly anything else is new to us) AS THEY ARE ADDED TO THE CONSOLES or they could go with a new T6 upgrade system AS EACH CASE ARISES given that these ships are still apparently ANALOGOUS to their original counterparts.
Undoubtedly there would have to be changes to boff seating (it's the only thing a T6 version needs to address over T5-U) but here's the point to consider: it's quite plausible that most players do not own any given T5 lock box ship. An upgrade would benefit existing ship users, in addition to making the ships more attractive to new customers (buffing the infinity lock box, encouraging more key sales).
But that's just to say "it's a valid option to consider without any other information." It's not any more likely than alternatives at the moment (ex. these staying console exclusive.)

Obviously, what makes up a "faction" can be open to be interpretation.
A developer can see a faction as the following:
Starfleet: They have their own animation effects, uniforms, ships and story, plus faction hubs.
Klingon: See Starfleet.
Romulan: They have all of the same as the other two, though for pvp purposes, Romulans are either Federation or Klingon.
Now with the TOS Federation, they have unique animations and a starting ship along with a specific story arc. They also have a 23rd century hub, but only during the first arc. Afterwards, they keep the animation effects, but are considered Federation characters for storyline purposes. The devs though consider them a fourth faction for this reason.
We'll always have a focus towards the Federation side since that's what most people know.
