I'm fine with it. After all I already have a T6 Connie, but I'll probably still take a shot at this one too.
I don't want to rain on your parade, but you DON'T own a T6 Connie. You don't if the ship you're speaking of is the T6 Kelvin Heavy Command Cruiser (HCC), or as it's sarcastically referred to as, the JJprise. You own an iteration of the USS Enterprise. In fact players who own the T1 Enterprise have more right to claim they own a Connie than those who think the T6 Kelvin IS a Connie. There's a big difference, but that's not the problem.
The problem is Cryptic's actions. Since the date the game launched, it was stated time and time again, THERE WILL BE NO T6 CONNIE! So when Cryptic announced the T6 Kelvin HCC was going to be released, the player base accepted (reluctantly in many cases) that as a compromise to a T6 Connie. So players spent real money or started grinding for the in-game currency needed to purchase the T6 Kelvin HCC. So for those players who had to work HARD for the T6 Kelvin HCC, you don't have to imagine that the announcement of a T6 Constitution Class ship is a very bitter pill to swallow. I'm quite sure that if Cryptic had done the right thing and announced that the T6 Kelvin HCC AND the T6 Connie were going to be released in separate promotions, a large number of the player base would have gladly waited to purchase the T6 Connie. I would even bet the sales for the T6 Connie will make more profit than the T6 HCC sales.
So shame on you Cryptic, withholding the announcement of the T6 Connie to increase the profit you made on the T6 HCC is low and underhanded. Cryptic Dev's must be Ferengi. No wait, I take that back, that would be a horrible insult to the Ferengi race.
I always wanted to get a t6 connie but after reading this STUPID dev blog it's stuck behind this really annoying and very very very very very very limited chance to win R&D promotion
I am so not happy about this stupid promotion thing >:(
Because PWE/Cryptic are a business, and they want to make a boatload of money from people with more disposable income than common sense by pandering to instant gratification and the absurd need of some players to show their proverbial "E-peen".

The greatest thing about this is there is no way to tell a t1 connie from a t6 connie from the outside. So you can totally take a T1 connie into an advanced queue and noone would even know your not a t6.
Great job Crytpic. You did not even have to create any new models or art assets to get these working. All you had to do was up the stats, add seating and keep the default look. Voila already in game assets thrown to the players. So minimum effort and maximum profit by putting them behind this ridiculous RNG paywall. I wonder how much will be made off this. I won't be spending a dime as I don't really see a need for retro t1 looking ships.

They've been doing that with ships for ages, Galaxy, Defiant, Intrepid.
Exact same models, only real difference is the seating and stats.
It's kinda a con but it's one that been going for a while now.
Not a employee or shareholder just part of a group drooling at the possibility of making a sh*t ton of EC from the ships found in hundreds of Packs.

Look here, three exactly identical models of the Galaxy Class:
Being able to use the same model as for anther ship (and potentially even mixing parts) is a feature, not a con.

Well it looks like they switched around the In-game Schedule in the Calendar. They flipped around the Junior Officer's Weekend with the R&D Weekend. Probably realized it would make more sense to do R&D now when there is a Promotion going on with the R&D Packs. This could also mean that we may indeed have a 20% off Sale on those Packs. A good way to increase sales.

Or, they'll just keep it at full price, knowing fully well people will whip out those credit cards regardless.
