I have no attachment to the TOS constitution and could care less. Remove your head from your sphincter.
That being said, a game company doing token things to keep its player base happy - and draw in potential new players - doesn't exactly sabotage their efforts. This is a huge IP, after all. It deserves far more than what we have. Like a functional game, for starters.
Fixed that for you. I apologize for the misspelling. Did not mean any disrespect at all.

Of course, we all know that won't happen, people will complain like crazy while swiping their credit cards over and over again trying for that .4% chance to win the ship. Cryptic knows how to ring out every last dollar.
I think that the people that swipe their credit cards over and over are not the exact same pepole that rage about it. (Except when they rage afterwards that they didn't get the ship.)
In the end, the people that rage on forums but don't "swipe their credit card" are not the ones that keep this game afloat, and so Cryptic will probably pretty much ignore any complains against promo actions like this. They do other stuff for the people that are not interested in this.
And ultimatey - the Tier 6 Connie will people cost about as much as the Tier 6 Jem'Hadar Vessel or any other R&D Promo - but this time, it will be a Tier 6 Connie, quite possibly the absolutely most request item in the game. This can only be one of the best deals for many players, and for Cryptic.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
If the dilithium exchange rate keeps going up, I'z giving cryptic $20. That should more than offset the OP's dime.
I got an Annorax on the third try last time it was available as an R&D goody. I might buy a 4 pack and try my luck again this time just for giggles (I'd probably open it on my KDF captain if I won). I skipped the Jem'hadar ship promo which was the last R&D bonus event that I know of (ship trait might be nice, but just don't care to fly a bug). If Cryptic really wants my money, they'll bring the Elachi Sheshar back for another try. That's a ultra rare ship I actually want.
Mostly its a decent way of getting lobi, so I don't mind taking a couple cracks at it.
Good luck to all the folks that try. Thanks for keeping the lights on at Cryptic .
This is how I feel. I will try a few boxes and hope for the best. If not, oh well. I'm getting the Geneva and moving on.
I agree it would been nice to add a reward to the AOY story line just for those guys. So they could get the ship as a special reward. For those only created AOY during the event.

Player entitlement rants are always amusing. People delude themselves that what they spend / do in STO has some kind of objective value, and therefore they can be cheated.
Money spent on STO is money spent purchasing entertainment, whether it's "value" or not is entirely subjective; spending £100 does not mean the same to me now (mortgage / kids) as it did when I was a freewheeling 20-something.
If the T6 Connie and D-7 are too expensive, the the Paladin / Ranger and Fleet K't'inga are very capable alternatives for TOS fans. Personally, I'm finding that a T5 Ranger with Mk XIV (non-Fleet/rep) gear is fine for all purposes. Anyone who's actually getting stressed about the fact that these ships are R&D promos - to the point that they'll stop playing a game they enjoy which offers cheaper alternatives - really needs to consider what they're obsessing over.
You may think that this simply means my personal money. No. This RNG **** via R&D boxes for the Connie is really, really low. Particularly when they said for years that it wasn't going to be in game. Well, Cryptic, you've done it. I'm not going to play the game. I'm not going to convert dil. None of it
Nobody is forcing you to spend a dime on this MMO. Chill out and move on. IMHO it is not worth it for this USS Crappyship anyways. I hate connies and will always do
I'm certain somebody will point out how "free" this **** is. No, it's not. It's time out of your life that you will never get back for a non-account wide digital item.
See, there's your mistake. If it's "time you won't get back" you probably should just quit sinking time into it to save what's left.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
Well as much as I've said before, guys this is a blatant money grab. Plain and simple. Though lately everyone is going this way. WoWS holds ships like Scharnhorst and does a limited time offer of 2 weeks then makes it go away for about a year. PWE, not surprised they are doing the same.

Well, of course it's a "blatant money grab". Were you under the impression that Cryptic was a charity, and this game was being run for your personal entertainment rather than to make money?

I'd have to agree with this sentiment. I've never personally held the view that PWE/C is here to create a game solely for ME or MY entertainment- especially completely for free. I do, however, understand where such meaning can be misinterpreted by the masses, when a business model converts to "Free to Play".
That said, it's all marketing- but the motive has always been about making money for business, and any person with enough common (or uncommon, in this case) sense will be able to disseminate this for themselves and likely won't feel slighted just because they can't have everything they want in the game without spending a penny themselves.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
