What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Game stuck on "Loading" screen.

Launcher works, Arc works(not that I use it) and patcher works.
Click "Engage."

"Star Trek New Dawn" Loading... (forever)

Patch to Tribble

"Star Trek Agents of Yesterday" Loading...(forever).

3 different machines Windows XP through 8.1 Nvidia, ATi, Intel and AMD.
Full uninstall and re-installs.
Disabled virus scanner.
Shut down everything else. (Though on a newer system (2 TB, SSD, 16GB hi-speeed memory, 2GB NIVidia card, etc...not sure why I'd need to.)
Is there a server outage?

This typically happens whenever there is an event, by the time tech fixes the issue and I can into the game, the event is half over and it is impossible to collect the main prize (ship). Hoping for a quicker resolution. :)

Lifer since Beta.

Same here. Brand new to the game, but stuck on "Loading" screen forever. Still haven't been able to get into game ever.

On some systems (as far as I understand, it depends on the exact DirectX version and some settings) the very first launch after install or patch may take up to half an hour... It launches normally afterwards.

I have the same issue of not being able to log on. It does not launch normally after 30 minutes. It does not launch after 6 hours. Please refund my money. This has be going on for days.

Yep, all day since the patch. Arc pulls up, the launcher launches, the "Cryptic" logo (white font on black) pulls up, then I get this funky blue screen - not "the blue screen of death" - with a very fine pattern to it. Then I get the windows pop-up saying "game client is not responding..."

I'll retry and the launcher automatically verifies files...rinse, repeat.

I can't seem to contact actual support as I get redirected ad infinitum without actually being able to file a ticket. And evidently, there aren't many of us having issues as I can't find a main thread addressing the issue.

windows 10, 64- I get this EVERY patch , that is more than basic reset. It's not ARC, it's the actual game client. I launch thru the exe file and Champions, I don't have this problem with.(Mind you, CO has F.. all in the way of updates)
I have just done the most recent patch and , it's sitting counting files again.

Ya, support is incapable of fixing the game client. Just bogus.
  • tesseract6tesseract6 Member Posts: 3 Arc User
The only way to get in is to set the client on the Engage page, go into options, and check safe mode. I can get in this way, and once in, you can go into options again and change to default to get a slightly better rendering. I think most of the options to increase the rendering after the default settings require a client reboot and will get you back to the same issue. You have to set the options back to the safe mode each time you log in. Bogus.

So I am STILL having this issue. I have tried installing through Steam AND the ARC. Both times it doesn't matter how long it sits at the Star Trek "New Dawn" screen with loading underneath it.

Having to start every time in safe mode and then move all of my graphics settings back up is a TRIBBLE workaround. Is there being anything done with this?

    Hello everyone

As of right now the only permanent fix to this is to:

    Open the STO launcher
Login if you don't launch from Arc, but don't launch the game
Click the Options button at the top
    Scroll down to Command Line
    Enter: -d3d11enable 0 -d3d9
Copy and paste for your convenience
    Click save
Now you should be able launch the game without getting stuck

I have a thread about this issue here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1217819/graphics-overhaul-some-cant-use-d3d11-still

Go post your PC specs, and hopefully support will fix it with the expansion.

With regards this nobody is saying if they can see the progress bar at the bottom of the Cryptic screen. If you cannot see the progress bar then reduce the size of the app to a window so you can see if your firewall is asking for permission to be able to go online. If you see the bar but it stops part way across the screen it is most likely not a firewall issue.

Still having this issue. Using the command line does get me into the game, but as if I manually select Safe Mode EVERY time I start the game. Even with the command line code, I start in a windowed mode, and haven't been able to modify the resolution to fill my monitor screen. I have to change my graphics levels back up to full every time I enter the game.

    MSI laptop (model GS60 6QE)
    windows 10 64 bit Home
    i7-6700HQ
    16GB DDR4 ram
    GeForce 980M

So now I can't even change my screen resolution. If I want to play the game at all, I have to keep it windowed as a box on the screen. If I attempt to change it to my default resolution (1920 x 1080), the game crashes and I get a message:

Fatal Error: Direct3D driver returned error code
    (D#DERR_INVALIDCALL) while resetting this device

I had a similar problem for a few days; I would get stuck at the Cryptic logo forever. I could get in in safe mode, but couldn't adjust my screen resolution to normal when I was in. Tried updating my graphics driver and C++, but it didn't seem to help.

It is all working fine now though. What seemed to work for me was using Arc to start the launcher, then closing the Arc window (but not exiting it at the taskbar; just left it running in the background). I went into the game in safe mode, and found that I could now alter the resolution without trouble. I'm not sure why Arc would have made a difference (I can't rule out the possibility that it was just a coincidence), but everything has been fine since.

I'm having a similar problem. Whenever I open the game, I have the issue where it just sticks on the Star Trek screen. I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, through both Steam and Arc directly. I got it to work, but instead of freezing there, the game then crashed every time I tried to tweak the graphics settings. I'm not sure if it's a game problem or if my hardware is just having a hard time keeping up. These are my specs:
    Windows Surface Book
    Windows 10
    i5 processor
    8g of RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GPU

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Been having similar issues on mine until I downgraded my graphics driver to the one last supplied by my laptop OEM (Gigabyte). When I told Windows update to then leave my drivers alone it has been fine. Maybe that is worth a try, ie go to MSI's website and download and install the lastest driver from there and do not update again unless MSI make another available.

So has anyone continued to have these issues past AoY? I'm updating STO on my computer, my drivers are up to date. About to see for myself if this is continuing to be a problem.
  • aden72aden72 Member Posts: 4 Arc User
i'm also having the same issue!! load screen says "patching" but its been doing it since the 6th.. I don't think it needs 3 days to patch when it was running fine before the 6th. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, it finally patches then I get a cryptic error message. I have not had any problems until the 6th. Support says to wait for the patch to finish but its been 3 days...Really how long does it need to patch since other people seem to be playing just fine!!! even when it says patching there is nothing to the side that says how much info is patching.

Aden I think we have different issues. You're stuck at the Launcher, where it's asking you to patch. We're able to launch, and reaching the loading screen with the TOS viewscreen with AoY title. There it loads, and it loads for all eternity.

So by some miracle everything worked yesterday! I loaded in and everything worked! I realized that I still had the dx9 command lines still in, so I felt bold and shut down the game, removed them, and tried again. The game worked just fine under dx11!

So I played yesterday, no problems. Last night, I shut down the computer, and come back to the game today... and same problem. Game freezes on load screen with dx11. I'm just tired with the game and having to set in the dx9 command lines. Physically can't play the game until they fix it. Done with workarounds.

I fixed this issue on my end go to your Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\pigs location delete all "PIGS" files I also deleted my "localdata" file. log into the game and it should start downloading the patch files again, I know what a pain in the beep, but if it worked for me I hope it works for you, so far 5 days and no more game freeze at loading however I did get server not responding one time it eventually worked thru it, no problems since, good luck...
  • grimmwhispergrimmwhisper Member Posts: 3 Arc User
So I did all of that. I deleted the HOGG files from that folder, and I wiped the one file in my Localdata file. It did repatch the whole game. However, it did not fix my problem. When I start the launcher, it still freezes at the AoY Loading screen on the old TOS viewscreen.

So anyone else have any advise? I'm willing to try some other things. So far the -dx9 command line was the only thing that worked until the latest patches. Now that doesn't work for me either.
