Do you favor incorporating ‘Feedback Pulse’ and ‘Placates’ into Space NPC’s...

As players we are getting short changed on our Space PvE content. There are bridge officer abilities not currently used by Space NPC’s. To be fully immersed in the Star Trek experience I want to be challenged at the highest level and I am asking you to vote.

Do you favor incorporating ‘Feedback Pulse’ and ‘Placates’ into Space NPC’s repertoire of abilities to resist attackers? As those abilities currently exist.

I know the PvP Community is raving about it. What do you think?

Yes for FBP. No for placate as that sounds like it would become very annoying very quickly.

Yes to both, especially placates. I already build my ships with various methods of defense and escapes. At least then I'd be able to use them outside of pvp, which I don't do as often.

I may be a little tired but are you asking if the enemy NPCs should have these skills? Terrans already have both, and many other species have Placates on tap, so much so you spend more time placated than fighting.

There's already a couple NPCs that use FBP. Cardassian Galor and Fed/Mirror Science ships.

And Hirogen have a nasty habit of using Subnuc on you. And not at the same time either.

Respectfully, I am proposing that FBP and Placates be used by Space NPC’s as they currently exist for players and at the player’s current level. Not just a graphical representation (e.g. a flash of light) or watered down ability that is easily defeated.

They do use the abilities, and I suspect in many cases, "as those abilities currently exist." The problem is they don't know how to use them. It won't be a simple solution like just adding the ability to the list of things the AI can use, it is a matter of teaching the AI how to use each and every one of the abilities for effect. An effective Feedback Pulse build is way more then just mashing FBP3.

TLDR version: You already have what your asking for, it just isn't living up to what you hoped it would.

Maybe not on 'normal', however anyone playing advanced or elite should get a proper fight. Healer may even become a role.

I agree it would be nice even if it were done only on advanced/elite, or that a new/improved AI that would use the abilities in different an effective ways. I mean it is one things to use the ability as a nuisance like in normal to early advanced ques/difficulty-ranks, than you might get a slightly different AI on mid to late advanced ques that use these abilities more effectively, but then you have elite ques that have an even more advanced Ai that utilize the different buffs/abilities better an even might get a new ability or even traits that make them even more deadly an interesting to play against.

Npc ship's should have expansive boff layouts that utilize the boff skills that are available to whatever ship they are flying. Players are able to bind a bunch of skills to the space bar. Why can't npcs be set up with skill rotations?

Yes to FBP. YOu know who needs a Nasty FBP? The Borg Gate before it's adjacent Transformers are destroyed, and the Transformer before it's Nodes are destroyed. Nasty, Nasty FBP. And Placate for good measure. That alone would change the game in ways that you would really need to think about to fully appreciate.

FBP and Placate are fine ideas, but only in ways that promotes depth and thoughtful gameplay, or discourage shallow, thoughtless gameplay like spamming blanket AOE. I wouldn't want to have FBP just happen randomly on a target that it made sense to be focusing on like: HAHA Surprise Dead. Damage-in-because-Damage-out is a pretty tasteless game mechanic in a game that is all about damage-out. FBP would not necessarily have to be scripted and predictable, but it would need to be telegraphed, and there would have to be an opportunity for a reaction.

I don't think NPCs really need much in the way of placates. would be cool if they were using their cloak more effectively.

What they should have more is confuses. That would make the use of skills like BFAW, Torpedo Spread or Gravity Well (the last two my favorite tools) more challenging. At least in team environmnets. Not really much effect in solo play.

Voted "yes" but there are issues that need to be adressed before that happens.
Some NPCs already have them and it somewhat works but there are still a lot of problems with AI and balance.

NPCs can't handle powers properly and more often than not they are horribly implemented. Swarms of hirogen escorts and their subnuke are a prime example of that, srsly gettin hit with 4-6 subnukes in less than a minute is pretty stupid. Or a bunch of herald ships who all spam their 4-5 EMP probes simultaneously. Or the lastest facepalm worthy na'kuhl who also all use their clones at once so you've got 10 enemies instead of 5 with half of them being invulnerable and more often than not 20km out of your range. :|
Ever seen an undine ship outrunning torps & cannon fire with epte? Only funny when it's not your shots they keep outrunning. :s

I'd welcome NPCs who would be more than punching bags with a buttload of hp but for that we'd need a better AI which clearly isn't on the table as we've seen over the past couple years. :/

Great idea, would make pugs hilarious again when we can watch mindless spammers pop because of their own weapon fire. :D

Hierachy, vaadwar, romulans, mirror, hirogen and most other races for npc use placates anyway, some to utterly annoying levels.
Mirror uses FBP which at advanced and past is pretty damaging especially to a high DPS boat.
Basically what's being said is making all NPC capable of these skills.
Great idea, let's remove any diversity the enemy has so it's even more samey.

As others have already mentioned, some NPCs already use them. Making all of them use the same things would be incredibly boring. No thanks.

If anything, NPCs should have more variety. Possibly a randomly selected ability or two (or more at higher difficulty setting).

Not sure if randos would make it better or worse. But giving everyone basic powers like tac team, hazard emitters, polarize hull and the likes would already go a long way.
    I don't think I ever saw a NPC redistribute it's shields. :|

Space NPCs already have both. I am in favor of this trend continuing with the APPROPRIATE enemy groups.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

I vote for NPC's to stay the way they are. IMO some NPCs have use placates, holds, disables far too frequently. Iconians for one example. Those stupid probe things and the solar gateways are likely the most annoying things in the game. The Nakuhl and there RED beam of death is SPAMMED by multiple ships at one time in some missions. Romulans CONSTANTLY use tractor beams and those tractor mines. I could go on and on. I don't think these abilities should NOT be used by NPC's, perhaps a balancing is needed. My BOFF abilities have cooldowns, yet at times it seems NPCs can use the same ability multiple times in a very short period of time. Also, when an NPC can knock out my engines, or weapons several times over the course of a couple minutes it gets VERY annoying! Ow,, and can't forget the mysterious " all my skills darkened, cant do a darn thing" ability several NPC's have. Yes, there are way to counter all these annoyances, Sci Team, Eng Team, etc, however when the NPC's are spamming them and my Sci team is in cooldown then what?
I should point out I am a fairly casual player. My builds are not even close to optimized and my gear is " GOOD" at best. Perhaps on Advanced or Elite difficulty the NPC's should use more placate, hold, disables, ETC, but its doubtful the Devs would change the AI in that way. That's my two cents, B)

Player 2. Counter ALL Buff Removal [Subnucleonic Beam or Subnucleonic Carrier Wave or Expose Vulnerability - Critical Systems] (off...)
Player 1. Science Team (on again...)
    THEN
Player 2. Science Team again (off!!!)
This is end of progression until applied again!!!!

A bit like the Tholian disable weapons subsystem ability if you don't have the Iconian shields equipped. Weapons are up, now they are down, up, down, up, down Arrgghhh!!!!
