The fiction staff are clearly having fun with this whole "jumping around history" thing, aren't they? An interesting read, and finally a logical explanation for why Jack the Ripper suddenly stopped killing! He was beamed off planet! Now we know.
Ensign Jacob Black had spent most of his life on starships and space stations. He'd enjoyed holodeck excursions camping in Yosemite on Earth and hiking the hinterlands on Bajor. His father had also taken the entire family to programs set to recreate the forests near his ancestor's home in Scotland.
No one could have prepared him for the reality of London in 1888. Specifically, no one could have prepared him for the smell. The Thames was subject to the tides of Earth's large moon; when the river went down, all manner of noxious matter came up. The streets were dirty in the Whitechapel district, but the alleyway he was standing in was worse than usual. He wasn't too far from a public house, and the stones beneath his feet had apparently absorbed the smell of sour stomach, human waste and spilled ale.
Starships didn't smell like this.
Jacob ducked further into the itchy wool scarf he wore and tried to focus on the job at hand before his inattention was noticed.

For those wondering what is the Entity in the canon:
Name's Redjac from TOS: Wolf in the Fold.
Redjac (or Red Jack) is just one of it's many names.
It was also known as Beratis, and Kesla on other planets.
The last person it took over was Mr. Hengist.

It seems every sci-fi / time travel show wants a fantastic explanation for Jack the Ripper. Though quite possibly TOS was one of the first TV shows to do it.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Wasn't the entity supposed to nom some folks in Shanghai in 1932 and Kiev in 1975 before leaving Earth for Mars?
Maybe sometime after, its host escaped and hijacked an Aeon, traveling through various times on different planets, pursued by the temporal agents until it ended up on Argelius II.
Or it falsely bragged about it, simply to mess with the crew. Or it's an oversight.
Nice story. Would be impressed if it was actually in game as a short animation you could watch not some blog outside no one will know existed in a few days.

That was a quick promotion. lol
Clearly took some notes from the Alternate Reality Starfleet's fast track promotion.
No no no, don't you all know that it was Prince Albert Victor that was Jack the Ripper? Not some random sacrificial red shirt! What's wrong with you?
Actully he was an homosexual there no real reason for him to have been Jack the Ripper, if it was a Royal it would have been his dad he was a lathario and philanderer, but I think that is going off subject a tad
Another great read. Props to Jacob though. He took the news like a man. Too bad that they didn't use the Enterprise solution, nerve pinch Jacob and beam Redjac to wherever they were gonna drop him.

Well, the blog does mention that Walker would return the Entity/Lt Black back to the timestream matching the data they have on the Entity's movements, so there's no reason why those events couldn't still happen as they originally did. In all likelihood, it's a predestination paradox.

They were foreshadowing, with a pre-posthumous promotion. It makes sense given that they're temporal agents and all. Yeah, that's it.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
"I guess we know how the Entity got off Earth in 1888."
After such a nice atmospheric yarn, it's a pity that the author didn't take the time to listen to the rest of the Star Trek episode she was referencing (specifically, the computer readout aboard the Enterprise about the other killings): The complete relevant computer quotations (in bold), taken verbatim from the episode, are as follows:
(Kirk asks for criminological files for cases of unsolved mass murders of women since Jack the Ripper).
(Computer): "Working.
1932, Shanghai, China, Earth: seven women knifed to death.
1974, Kiev, U.S.S.R., Earth: five women knifed to death.
2105, Martian colony: eight women knifed to death.
2156, Heliopolis, Alpha Eridani II: ten women knifed to death.
There are additional examples."
(Kirk then asks the computer to identify the proper names Kesla and Baratis).
(Computer): "Working.
Kesla: name given to unidentified mass murderer of women on planet Deneb II.
Baratis: name given to unidentified mass murderer of women on planet Rigel IV. Additional data: murders on Rigel IV occurred one solar year ago."
So, according to the Federation's records, "Redjac" didn't leave Earth until sometime between 1974 and 2105. 1888 does not fall between those dates.
Otherwise, a very nice story. IMHO, this was one of the best story blogs they've done!
By the way, Jack the Ripper's real life last known victim, was indeed (as the author correctly stated) Mary Jane Kelly, and was the only victim killed indoors (in her flat in Miller's Court).
What next?
JJ Trek is a thing because the Na'kuhl actually tipped-off Nero on how to intercept Spock's Jellyfish with a modified mining barge?
(kidding ^^)
The Temporal War allows the writers to make tons of connections and tie-ins all over the place X) Good read, definitely bookmarked!
Could these be added to the in-game Journal for people to read? As intermediate entries between story missions maybe?

Interesting detail about those dates, they are all between 40 to 60 years apart, until getting to Kesla and Baratis, which are undated, however the Baratis killings are only 1 year earlier so either the cycle seems to have changed or like human serial killers Redjack had entered that phase where the need to kill becomes all consuming and the previous rituals/signatures/etc become less important than the kill itself.
Another thing I notice, 2156 is mid-22nd century, not sure how close that is to the MX-01 era, but it can't be more than a few decades either way.
Actually, 1974-2105 is a gap of 131 years, and there are NO ripper killings listed for the entire 21st century (so I guess we're safe from Piglet's rampage for a while). Then again, since we've already passed the last kill date on earth, maybe H. G. Wells (Dr. Soran) killed Jack the Ripper (Chancellor Gorkon) in 1979 (and kudos to anyone who gets that reference), in which case Mr. Hengist is a copycat!

"Time After Time" (1979) a really great film by Nick Meyer.
And my guess is that they just put Lt. Black back on earth after wiping his memory.

So to preserve their timeline the Future Federation is willing to return a killer alien back to earth? And here I was thinking the Terran Empire was evil.
Somebody in the Terran Empire would just put a control collar of some kind on Lt. Black and use him/it to kill specific people throughout the time lines.
