So the other week i realized that if you missed out on a few days of an anniversary event you miss out on the anniversary ship, and by default part of numerous c-store console sets, and having a bit of content completely unobtainable because you had IRL stuff to do is more then a little irritating especially as a paying customer.
My solution to this problem is simple:
Gate it behind the lifetime subscriber reward with each new anniversary ship/console unlocking 6 months after said anniversary event to ensure you get participants in the event and at the same time do not make content irrevocably unabattainable.

Eh i did a read through and from what i can gather it's just people debating weather exclusive rewards should remain exclusive or not, and around and around it goes with no actual implementation ideas being thrown in. I admit i didn't know about it when i created this one but when comparing the two topics mine is clearly an idea for implementation whereas that one is asking if they "are ever going to be made available?" and devolving into "should they even be made available at all?". To me this is clearly different but if this gets pruned like a constapated grandma, so be it .

Now though... its get them while you can during the event otherwise you're SOL.
A year after the ships were made available, make them $70 bucks in the C-Store...
Problem solved.
They get more funding and anybody who really wants the ship can put out the moola for it.

Basically, this.
There are many other potential solutions to this 'exclusivity' deal regarding past event ships that don't make the divide between Subs and F2Ps wider.
having a lifetime sub does not exempt you from this and personally being a lifetime subscriber I would not want it to, in fact I don't want any advantage or special treatment for playing events.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

In all seriousness though, the policy is stupid and you are just the most recent in a very long list of people that have been irked by it. I only have the Nandi, Rezreth, and Krenim Science Vessel. All other event ships are currently unavailable to me, despite my willingness to grind these events into oblivion to get them all in one pass. I don't even bother using the Rezreth, partially because it's hideous and also because I don't have the other three Breen ships. Every time I fly it I'm just reminded of what I don't have, and it gets depressing.
I don't think LTS should have access to these event ships, but I would be okay with it if they were placed either in the C-Store for a certain price or the Lobi store as ACCOUNT unlocks. It annoys me to no end that the only event ship in the Lobi store, the O.G. Dyson Science Destroyer, is a character unlock, despite the one from the actual event being an account unlock. Lobi is already the most expensive currency in the game to earn, so making it a character unlock only is just throwing salt into the wound.
This new policy regarding event ships doesn't even do anything to help the community; all it does is create more friction and contempt between players and the developers. People say that they're likely doing it to increase participation in events, but I doubt that's the case. Sure, some players would see that these event ships are available every year and not be inclined to participate one year because of that, but that would mean they'd have to wait an entire year before they could attempt to earn those ships again. I don't know about you, but I'd rather just do the event and get the ship(s) the first time they're available instead of being deliberately lazy and making myself wait a whole year to get them again.
Also, these event ships weren't even time-gated until recently. Before the Summer 2015 Event, you could earn every ship released up to that point for each event again via projects. That was changed when the Nandi was released, and honestly the justification Cryptic has provided is garbage. Maintaining "exclusivity and collectability" doesn't work when you can't actually collect the ships after the events are over now. In fact, those two words are in conflict with each other, so putting the two together is just idiotic. Besides, now that the event tokens are time-gated, making the ships themselves time-gated too was just overkill.
Sorry about the rant, but I've made many a thread about this topic and every time I do it just makes me more and more furious at this decision. I know I'm not alone in my beliefs as well.
though I agree with most of what you say as most players probably do its not up to players its up to cryptic how they handle event rewards and to be honest I don't see them changing their minds on this policy any time soon.
where I disagree with your statement is your assumption that some players would not put off getting event ships till the following year or even later, as I said in a previous thread I know of several players who admitted in this forum that despite having ample opportunity to get these ships they did exactly this and were caught out by the change in policy, it has been suggested elsewhere they only want these ships now for the Admiralty system but they confessed this long before the first news of Admiralty was even known about so if they ever do make these ships available cryptic would be wise to make them available either in the lobi or c-store rather then in events.

and if that journey takes a little longer,

And this policy of 'exclusivity' that Cryptic has adopted with event ships has struck a nerve with most players both Subs and F2Ps.
It isn't unreasonable to ask for change, and certainly ideas regarding event ships have been suggested in the past, and will be suggested in the future I'm sure.
Problem is, Cryptic is (apparently) unwilling to change this policy. So any suggestion made about this will likely not be implemented.
Still, if enough players cause a fuss about this for long enough, Cryptic will have to do something. So I'd suggest to keep at it, come up with more ideas, suggestions, and requests. It might not lead to anything, but it might just.
At the very least it'll keep the discussion alive and let Cryptic know that players are still disgruntled about it.
good advice only don't expect a change anytime soon, it seem to be pretty hard to change cryptics minds when they decide on something like this so unless something drastic happens I cant see them being swayed.

its hard to know what in game value cryptic put on any item and what value they place on players taking part in events, if you could work out a sound formula for this then perhaps you could work out what as a player you could suggest to cryptic as a fair exchange for event ships, grabbing some random monetary value out of the air even if it is reflected in similar items in the game isn't necessarily the winning formula you need, its possible there is nothing you can offer to cryptic for not being around when events were in progress and this could be true just as much for new players as it is for seasoned players.
all you can hope is they will take pity on you and change their policy but I would not count on this ever happening.

Last Christmas they had stopped that for the winter event, which is odd when you consider non of those ships have been released in the lobi/dil or C-store.
What i "would" like to see is something we can do with GPL, and not just from a LTS point of view.
I refuse to dump cash into a burn barrel unlocking lockboxes, but i have all this GPL laying around on 7 toons that can't do anything but buy useless holographs etc.
It doesn't have to be anything gamebreaking, at least let me convert it 1-1 to dilithium.
but then they would probibly do something like - it only converts to unrefined dilithium ortherwise it would crash the zen exchange - which makes it again next to useless
Don't get me started on charging money for the T5 ships and T5U tokens, it's worse then lockboxes!....and that is another topic entirely... but as for ascribing certain monetary value to a ship, it is difficult to define as Bobbydazzlers points out above yet i refuse to accept that it would be above $35.
F2P folks would revolt if things were changed in such a way where only those of us with LTS could bypass the exclusivity system.
while I agree like you say that exchanging GPL for dilithium is a bad idea I do agree with shurkhemolight that it would be nice to be able to actually buy stuff that is really useful with it, what they have available now I wouldn't get if it was free.

Ehh i forgot about dabo, because i never bother with it, point taken.
Still need something to buy with it that doesn't rate useless.
Didn't mistakenly post anywhere, i mentioned if i miss an event, i missed it, if i miss it i dont expect any easy way out of it.
Then i mentioned the gpl, because it came to mind.
My self, over 6 yrs now i have 1/7 toons who is "just" below 100k in gpl, i do not actively seek gpl, i plugged the ferengi trader doff in for a while on anything she did away team oriented, that ended a while back.
He is right concerning dabo, it would break the dil/zen market, outside of that it wouldn't be possible.
Exactly. Cryptic is rewarding the players that they consider loyal and are present for the anniversary/winter/summer events, by giving them free ships. While this is great, I wonder if things will change when the X-Box/PS4 console ports arrive. Cryptic will be drawing in a larger player base, possibly with several new players that have never played the game before. I imagine some of them would be upset if they realized that there are consoles from retired collector's/deluxe editions of the game, but more importantly them missing out on the T6 anniversary and event ship traits and consoles.
A possible solution for the new players (and any existing players that simply could not be there to earn the event ships), would be to at some point release "ship packages", perhaps from the Lobi Store, that contain the console+trait of no longer attainable event/anniversary T6 ships. The thought crossed my mind when I read that the new Fed T6 dreadnought cruiser (Kelvin Timeline) was exclusively (by design) for Fed players, but Cryptic is making available a "starship package" that players can buy on the Lobi Store that consists of the ship's trait and console for the KDF and Rom players. Perhaps at some point they will do this with the Anniversary/Event ships--not the ships but just their traits and consoles in "ship packages". I think that would alleviate a lot of frustration from the folks who are missing the last console in a set (Timeline Stabilizer console, for example) and can no longer attain it.
Just a thought !
