    I ignore it entirely. I'm a theme player as well but that one "instant fleet admiral" thing is the one thing too ridiculous to pretend exists.

    My characters, with the exception of one KDF general, are all at or below the rank of captain and thats how it is, I don't give a damn as to what others try and force upon me.

    BECAUSE I am a theme player attempting a believable Star Trek RP experience, I do not accept that every officer I meet is a fleet admiral. that's not doable. its simply stupid.

    Everything else can work but having everyone at the same ridiculously high rank does not.

    "He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
    Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
    he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
    In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
    He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
    He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
    He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
    He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

    Well as everyone's post thus far has pointed out. They don't all follow the theme/storyline, and view/portray their characters as Captain's. Even those that portray their characters as fleet admiral point to them earning that rank much longer than 2 years. So consider my character the only one to reach Fleet Admiral in 2-years :P

    I manually moved this post to this thread from a different one:

    One of my KDF captain's main "theme" was getting his family reunited onto his bridge crew. My Orion captain, I wrote more of the story of his family in additional Orion Bridge Officer bio's as I got them from the game. Plus getting two or three more then then that. I can post the bio's from the Orion Bridge Officers and my captain in the order I wrote them, somewhere here on the forums, or in the thread about captain bio's if any one is interested. I also have it so they don't report to Malani Dilani(however it's spelled).

    I'll make a forum signature pic of all my STO captain's within two or three days.

    edit: I'll make a new post with the bio for the character I mentioned here, along with the bio's for the other character or two I mentioned earlier. Or is one post per character preferred, or one post for multiple?

    I really miss the 2010 STO website. Our character bio and ship logs - the ones we can still write inside of the game today - were published in a searchable online database. We could read one another's logs while at work (on break, of course).

    If its a long post per character then per character would be better. If its short then you can just fit it all in one post.

    Really? Awesome. Do you know why they stopped? They have the http://gateway.startrekonline.com but you can only view your account :(

    I haven't been as "up to date" on the Bios as possible. Here's a sampling of the concepts behind my characters, though:

    Ardrian Dareau: Once an Immortal Hero, he shapechanged himself into a Trill Symiont to help "mask" his longevity. Ventak Prithgui, Commander in the Terran Starfleet, was so desperate to bind to a symbiote that he accepted Ardrian Dareau when Dareau's current host was mortally wounded in Terran space. Due to Ardrian's unusual history in "becoming" a Trill symbiote, he usually dominates his host and continues his mission. Currently on "his" third tour in Starfleet, Dareau is committed to defending the galaxy...

    Julin Eurthyr - This one is an "import / ripoff" of my "main" character back in my SFC days, I tried to make something that at least resembled a Veltrassi from the SFC II / SFB Interstellar Concordium. Currently after a bout of assimilation by borg to give him an extended lifespan and some cloning, that's how he made it to the 25th century from the 23rd's "SFB Wars".

    T'Leth is a "name swap" of the junior Romulan Helmsman that Julin "befriended" during those "SFB Wars" - which due to how badly it turned out for the Romulans caused T'Leth to spend a lot of time "hiding in disgrace" - being "reactivated" by Virinat.

    Annlova, my KDF Orion Science Officer, is playing the "better Klingon than you" game via a "scientific" bent (since she doesn't exactly like melee combat and hates daggers in her back). She used her wiles to seduce control of a disgraced once-great house and she's attempting to use this "better Klingon than you" mentality to get herself into the High Council as their first Non-Klingon...

    Shara Dareau is adopted by Ardrian "in Ardrian's previous host's lifetime" due to her... passing resemblance to and personality that reminded Ardrian of a very special... draconic companion of his distant past.

    Tina Picard is dealing with unfortunately bearing the same surname as a certain Captain but not being part of that family in any way, shape, or form.

    S'Leth (the original name of the Romulan Junior Officer) is my original Vulcan who's just an old-fashioned Vulcan that bought into the belief that sometimes it is "extremely logical" to be highly prejudiced and therefore... violent... when dealing with certain hostile alien races (Borg, for one). So, off he runs around killing at will...

    and perhaps my "crown jewel" of silliness. This one's a straight-up copy-paste...

    Bravely Bold Sir Robin - Commander of the Romulan T'Varo "Holy Hand 'Nade"...
    Just missed his transfer to the T'Liss that met the Enterprise
    Sulked in the Cargo Bay as the Cloaking Device was stolen
    Stepped Back during the formation of the Landing Party to visit Khitomer
    Evaded detection and the gaze of Jean-Luc Picard
    Passed by the Hirogen Alpha in the hall
    Bows to the Porcelin Throne at the sight of the Tal'Shiar
    Almost saw the Defiant if the cloak wasn't stuck on
    Soiled his uniform at the sight of the Borg Cube
    Still searching for the holy grail
    Forgot his Minstrels in spacedock

    Yeah, I was going "out of my way" to come up with... Mary Sue-esque... ways to bring some characters into the 25th century from different time periods, as I felt the "one way time warp" is too much of a cop-out, as demonstrated by the couple of posts already in this thread of temporally displaced beings...
    Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

    To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

    I have many characters from the Pre-DR days. But the only ones I cared enough to make a Bio for were for two of them. My Launch Day Fed character (TAC Female Vulcan... I was thinking fondly of TWOK's Saavik), my first ever, and my first KDF character a few days after launch (SCI Klingon). I chose those races solely because of their significance in Star Trek, before the idea of "Min/Max" started setting in. My Bios for them are both from the Launch days of STO in 2010 with very few adjustments since. I really wanted to go much more in depth with their Bios but the character limits put a damper on that.

    T'Lar
    Living a lifetime of service to Starfleet, T'Lar's first combat experience was early in her career aboard the USS Republic during the Dominion War. Aboard that cruiser she gained her experience with Weapon Operations in the Torpedo Bay. She eventually served there as Weapons Officer.

    Eventually transferring to the USS Relentless, an Akira-class ship, as a newly promoted LtCmdr. It is there were she became the Tactical Officer and upon attaining Cmdr, became First Officer / Executive Officer under Capt.Fairbanks.

    Under Fairbanks' tutelage, Cmdr.T'Lar became a more decisive, clever leader, always ready to seize the initiative.

    When war broke out between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, the USS Relentless was at the forefront when hostilities began. The Relentless was attacked by two Birds of Prey that caused severe damage, killing Capt.Fairbanks. T'Lar took command and was able to get the Relentless out of harms way after somehow getting a near-crippled ship to keep the Klingons at bay long enough for the Warp Drive to become operational, allowing the ship to escape.

    After repairs, Starfleet promoted T'Lar to Captain, and retain command of the Relentless with instructions to conduct patrols along the Neutral Zone. Combat was a regular event with the Klingons constantly probing the Federation's defenses.

    K'nbek
    Coming from a house with a long record of military service to the Klingon Empire, K'nbek sought power, prestige, and to bring honor to his house. His father was once a Captain under the famous Kor against the Federation before the Kitomer Accords. But other than that, no great martial accomplishments have graced his house.

    His family expended what little resources and influence it could to send him to the Klingon Academy to get the best possible training the Empire could offer. He was nearing graduation from the Academy when news of the impending Dominion threat came. The looming war was a time of great excitement for many in the Empire, a chance to prove the military prowess for all Klingons and attain great glory.

    After attaining his commission, K'nbek became a Science Officer aboard the I.K.S. Garok, a K'Vort-class Bird of Prey. It is there that he would serve the entire duration of the war.

    There was no shortage of combat and opportunity to attain glory and honor. If anything, K'nbek felt that the war pushed the Empire and its allies to the very limits, almost buckling to failure. The Garok fought in a campaign of raids deep into Cardassian space in an effort to keep the Dominion off balance and siphoning off units from the frontlines. The ship was almost lost several times but sacrifices and efforts by the crew kept the Garok intact.

    K'nbek had participated in the battle to reclaim Deep Space Nine, alongside the Federation allies.

    He had also participated in the final offensive on Cardassia itself, and the victory that followed.

    With the end of the Dominion War, the Klingons had lost a very large amount of its military. A large rebuilding and recruitment program occurred but recovery would take years. In the post war era, veteran warriors who had proven themselves well had the opportunity to move rapidly up the ranks. The KDF needed capable, proven leaders for the rebuilt military, and K'nbek was deemed one of those.

    Additional jibber-jabber from me:
    Again, this was from the launch days of STO. The focus of the game back then was the Federation-Klingon War in terms of game setting and of course, PVP (KDF & Feds used to be very passionate about their factions, now... It's just not there, even the fires in the heart of the Empire have grown dormant). In terms of story, I thought the potential for the new Federation-Klingon War was outstanding. Remember this is a few decades after the end of the Dominion War. Starfleet Ensigns, Lieutenants during the Dominion War would have been Admirals by the time of the new war. Vice versa for the Klingons. Of particular interest were the longer lived races like the Vulcans, Klingons. They would have easily been in service and recall a time Starfleet and the KDF fought side by side in the Dominion War, possibly have had friends in the other faction, only now to potentially have to fight them. Something the game failed to capture. Something I couldn't put into the Bios because of the character limits.

    I've actually written bios for all my characters, INCLUDING the bridge officers.
    Unfortunately, no one reads them. Still, I enjoy doing it.

    The craziest one I ever did was for my Lord of the Rings Online character, Skjald of Rohan. At the time of the game's launch 8 years ago, it was almost 300 pages, detailing his childhood and pre-game adventures. If I added his adventures from playing the game, it would probably approach 400 pages now...

    You could always post them in short bursts. Like 2 characters every day so you wont overwhelm everyone, lol. As for BOffs the same thing applies except 4 a day instead for the BOff Roster Composition. I'm sure there a lot of KDF character's tired of seeing KDF/RRF bios and would like to see more KDF "content" ;)

    So, I've made a few bios for my 20 or so alts, but most I haven't bothered. A short selection follows.

    Fleet Admiral Seshaz Jadzia Kahn (Science, Joined Trill Female)
    The second daughter of the then hosts of the Kahn and Dax symbiotes, Seshaz was joined with the Kahn symbiote in an emergency operation when her father was killed by an audacious Breen boarding party on the civilian transport that was ferrying the family to Defara.
    This act of barbarity steeled the resolve of Seshaz, who ultimately joined Starfleet in order to protect other innocent travelers amongst the stars.
    Her middle name, Jadzia, honours the Dax Host who died during the Dominion War.

    Fleet Admiral Chel'sea (Tactical, Joined Trill Female)
    Younger sister to the famed Starfleet Admiral, Seshaz Jadzia Kahn, Chel'sea drew inspiration from both her sister's tales of interstellar adventure and the brutal deaths of her parents at the hands of the Breen.
    Unlike her scientifically minded sister, however, Chel'sea has a hotter temper; her motto in life is "If at first you dont succeed, call in an orbital strike". Nevertheless, events meant that she was Joined young. Upon volunteering for Starfleet Academy, Chel'sea very quickly specialised in the tactical branch. Her adventures in space are just beginning...

    Fleet Admiral Order to Chaos (Science, Liberated Borg Human Female)
    I am the Borg. I am the beginning, the end; the One who is Many. I AM the Collective. I bring Order to Chaos.

    (Similarly, my Liberated Borg tactical is One of Many, and my Liberated Borg engineer is Loquacious of Borg).

    My main is a an ancient being whose world eventually made it Warp tech. He rules the small confederation of planets with several friends in an oligarchy, and the confederation is affiliated with the Federation, but not a full member. This allows them be a little more gray in galactic politics, not that a small collection of worlds matters much to the Federation or the Klingon Empire. He basically does what he has to to ensure the survival of his domain. This often leads him far from his home. But as he is ageless, he looks upon his voyage through the Astral Plane as but just another chapter in his long life.

    (Basically I play a Pathfinder (DnD) character whose planet eventually went Warp capable.)
    Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.

    Captain George Aubrey

    Born 31st June 2379. He began his career as a MACO, aboard the Federation Prometheus-class escort
    U.S.S. Centurion. During a routine patrol of the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone in 2399, the Centurion
    was attacked by Gorn vessels claiming to be unaffiliated with the Klingon Empire; then a MACO corporal, he
    was the only command-capable officer not in the morgue or sickbay and thus took the cahir for his own.

    Unfortunately, in spite of mounting a counterattack and repelling the Gorn forces, the Centurion was too
    heavily damaged to even limp back to Starbase 157 on impulse power. Acting-Captain Aubrey gave the order
    to abandon ship, after which the surving crew members were picked up after more than two weeks adrift.

    In 2409, after a career change from MACO to tactical officer, and another from tactical officer to engineering
    officer awarded the Starfleet Silver Star and the Starfleet Cross for his bravery and efforts in destroying Borg squadrons in the Quadra Sigma, Vorn, and Sibiran systems.

    Present command: U.S.S. Thunderer, Odyssey-class cruiser (tactical variant);
    U.S.S. Sakaira, Resolute-class heavy cruiser; U.S.S. Retribution, Alita-class escort carrier;
    U.S.S. Venator, Yamato-class dreadnought cruiser; U.S.S. Sentinel, refitted Avenger-class battlecruiser;
    U.S.S. Hirano, refitted Intrepid-class support vessel; U.S.S. Eagle, refitted Jupiter-class dreadnought;
    Valparaiso, former Elachi S'Golth escort; U.S.S. Audax, Valiant-class escort; U.S.S. Nimoy, Eclipse-class
    battlecruiser; U.S.S. Badger, Guardian-class cruiser; U.S.S. Magellan, Yorktown-class cruiser;
    U.S.S. Ashraven, Hestia-class escort.

    Other notable achievements include repelling the Vaadwaur Supremacy in the Delta Quadrant, assisting the Romulan Republic in establishing itself as a major power in the Beta Quadrant, and successfully defending the known galaxy from the vengeful Iconian and Herald forces.

    Subadmiral Sal'is Arrai

    A Romulan physician and xenobiologist working for the Republic, Sal'is has had a short but interesting career.
    Born in Federation standard year 2387, she remembers very little about the destruction of the homeworld - her
    mother was Tal Shiar, whilst her father was Imperial military.

    During a covert operation, her mother was assimilated attempting to retrieve Borg technology from a derelict cube,
    whereas her father died on the homeworld due to government bureaucracy - she was smuggled aboard
    an emergency transport by her maternal aunt, who was murdered by Nausicaan raiders attacking the
    refugee convoy they were in.

    Sal'is is currently flag officer aboard the Romulan Republic Shamshir-class warbird Tabodus, as
    personally recommended by Admiral Kererek of Republic Command. Other ships under her command include, but
    are not limited to, the Jhu'ael warbird Gilidan; the Kara-class dreadnought Sienovan; the Morrigu heavy
    warbird Impavadus; and the Jaeih-class fast warbird Chairo.

    Notabel achievements to date include: combating and defeating the Elachi hordes; discovering and
    subsequently repelling the Undine invasion of the Alpha Quadrant; discovering a "new Changling Link"
    in the Orias system, and; establishing contact with the species of the Delta Quadrant.

    Nice. And the color separation actually helped make it more readable.

    Andromeda Dorel(Rommie) Federation Alligned Romulan Tactical Officer
    A former Half-Romulan tactical officer in what was the Imperial Romulan Navy. Rommie has had encounters with the Tal Shiar before the loss of the homeworld. The Tal Shiar used to be something to look up to... now, run by Sela, it's something to be ashamed of. After the near death of the Romulan Star Empire in the Hobus Supernova, Rommie resigned from active service to re-examine her life and where it would go from there. However, that didn't last very long. When the colony she was living in was attacked by the Elachi and Tal Shiar she once again found herself on the bridge of a Warbird, only this time it was her own command and she was the one giving the orders.

    Maria Traydor(Maritra) Klingon Defense Force Science Officer
    Maria Traydor is a former resident of Federation station K-7. Her parents were scientists and diplomats working with the Klingons to reveal the threat that is the Undine. On a routine trip between K-7 and a Klingon science outpost Maria and her parents' transport ship was attacked by Undine in an attempt to stop their work on detection technology meant to show the extent of the Undine incursion in the Alpha Quadrant. Maria's parents died to give Maria a chance to get away in an escape pod, using the ship's self destruct sequence to take out the Undine ship before it could attack the escape pod. Maria was later found by two KDF science officers. They took Maria in and trained her to be a warrior of the Klingon Empire, and gave her a name based on her first and last name, though one that sounded more Klingon. That name was Maritra. Maritra was a prodigy when it came to science and even more surprising when it came to command and battle tactics. Maritra quickly rose through the ranks of the KDF and became commander of the Bird of Prey Helre. Maritra may be human, but the Federation's reluctance to help her parents' cause and the KDF's determination to take on and erradicate the Undine caused the decision of her allegiance to be an easy one. As long as the KDF focuses on the threat that is the Undine, Maritra will fight in the name of the Empire. Qapla'!

    Present command: U.S.S. Thunderer, Odyssey-class cruiser (tactical variant);
    U.S.S. Sakaira, Resolute-class heavy cruiser; U.S.S. Retribution, Alita-class escort carrier;
    U.S.S. Venator, Yamato-class dreadnought cruiser; U.S.S. Sentinel, refitted Avenger-class battlecruiser;
    U.S.S. Hirano, refitted Intrepid-class support vessel; U.S.S. Eagle, refitted Jupiter-class dreadnought;
    Valparaiso, former Elachi S'Golth escort; U.S.S. Audax, Valiant-class escort; U.S.S. Nimoy, Eclipse-class
    battlecruiser; U.S.S. Badger, Guardian-class cruiser; U.S.S. Magellan, Yorktown-class cruiser;

    Thanks! I'll need to have a look at my other characters to see if they have any bios, since I haven't updated any of them for some time..this thread was a perfect opportunity. :smile:

    This is a direct cut from my mains info screen...

    Born on Earth to Bajoran diplomat parents, Shea was raised to enjoy the finer things in life, and to expect them to be handed to her on her whim. However she knew this was not the life for her, and she enlisted in Starfleet as soon as she was old enough. She did this to better understand her own place in the galaxy, but her claim is, it simply was to escape from the horrible religious based parties thrown by her parents.

    Really? Awesome. Do you know why they stopped? They have the http://gateway.startrekonline.com but you can only view your account :(

    wrong; you can look at someone else's gateway profile for every character they have (provided it hasn't been disabled for that character) by putting their charactername@handle in place of your own
    Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

    Bio for my first Star Trek Online character: the one in my forum pic you see here.

    STARFLEET PERSONEL FILE: Tomner, Ripeaz

    Rank: Fleet Admiral

    Current Assignment: Commander, U.S.S. Moroni NCC-92877

    Full Name: Ripeaz Sonde Tomner

    Date of Birth: (Earth equivelent) August 19, 2377
    Place of birth: City of Noramtonn, Planet Malloton
    Parents: Randon and Mechilan Ann Tomner
    Education:
    Mallonite Advanced Engineering Academy 2395-2399
    Starfleet Academy: Betazed Satellite Campus 2399-2408

    Marital Status: Married(Ripeaz is married)
    Children: 5
    Quarters: Crew deck, Deck 8, room 4506
    Office: USS Moroni: Deck 1 Ready Room, adjoining Main Bridge

    Starfleet note: Citizens of the planet Malloton refer to themselves as Malonites, as is evidenced by the names of some higher level education facilities on the planet and their colonies.

    Starfleet Career Summery:

    2391-2395: Noramptonn Engineering High School, Northern Lehi Region. Graduated with Highest Honors.

    2395-2399: Accepted to the Mallonite Advanced Engineering Academy, where he excelled in many Starship Engineering courses.

    2399: Planet Maloton accepted into the United Federation of Planets, full membership status. Many eager young Malonite citizens apply to Starfleet Acadamy.

    2399-2406: Accepted into and attended Starfleet Academy, Betezed Satalite Campus. Had three Cadet Tours.
    2406-2409: Transferred to Starfleet Academy on Earth for three years in Command training.

    2406-2409: Assigned to USS Thomston as part of his three years of command training. Ship was assigned near the Vega system during that time.

    2409-?: Re-assigned to the USS Halifax, a Miranda class ship

    Eventually Ripeaz learned that the captain of the U.S.S. Thomston had died in the line of duty, and his last words were a request that the ship be transferred over to Ripeaz command. A subspace message from Starfleet command told him of that his former captain had died in the line of duty, and of his former commanders last request. Ripeaz accepted the transfer of the USS Thomston to honor his former captains memory.

    --

    End of in game bio for Ripeaz

    U.S.S. Thomston is the Constitution class ship from the C-Store: the USS Enterprise Tier 1 ship.
    Character type is Alien.

    I modeled this Bio after the style of Starfleet personnel record/file as shown on startrek.com/database.

    So far this is the only character who's bio is made in this way out of my characters.

    The U.S.S. Moroni mentioned is a Soveriegn class ship, anti proton beam weapons, borg set, assimilated borg console with cutting beam, with Quantum Torpedoes: one fore, one aft.

    I'll update it to a T6 ship when I get one for this character. In the mean time, going through various T6 ships to get their T5 ability.

    this is my main feds bio , a bit silly but hey its a game =)

    starfleet service number LXS9560-Z
    name:r.j sheppard
    race,gender:human,male
    rank: commander (fleet admiral)
    current assingments
    Special tactics and Recon (SR) phoenix department
    starship x:o
    away team co
    dragon squad leader
    callsign: dragon-5

    r.j sheppard was born on stardate 465060.50 on a class m planet in a colony/shipyard planet in a unknown starsystem.
    r.j was mostly seen at the colony training unarmed/armed combat and is a hand-to-hand combat specialist aswell as a weapons specialist .he could also sometimes be seen at the shipyard flying different ships ranging from shuttles to escorts to cruisers due to the lack of ships pilots to help deliver supplies and is thanks to that now a tactical helmsman.

    r.j got accepted to the SFA on stardate 486540.50 and went through the events of the death of his captain on his first ship posting in a unkown star system and an hour after that r.j faced the borg on vega colony and managed to save vega colony on his first day of training with exeptional effort and got noticed by and transfered to the starfleet tactical department known as special tactics and recon on stardate 487240.50 and has been with the special tactics and recon (SR) phyinox department since then.

    r.j sheppard doesn't always follows orders or rules or regulations but always put's the team or the crew first.

    all other info regarding r.j sheppard has been classified by starfleet intelligence.

    (note that the stardate is calculated at this website) (http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/stardate.php)

    Today I used the stardate to real date converter plus the "Path to 2409" found here:
    sto.gamepedia.com/Accolade/Lore
    to adjust my character's history (which I posted earlier) to dates and events in found in the official game backstory.

    So, now, my character was managing a short range research ship funded by the Daystrom Institute when he met Adm Janeway in 2401, which was the year the Admiral tried and failed to convince the Federation council to join the Klingons in their hunt for Undine infiltrators. He joined SFA faculty in 2403, the year before the breakout of the Klingon war. Jumping ahead six years finds him as chief science officer and then taking over command of his Miranda class ship in 2409, which I have as the last year of the Klingon War. I'm leaving the amount of time between then and his point in the game's story arc (which I havn't finished yet) open.

    A travesty.

    Granny Torval's was inspired by the classics:

    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
    Fillet of a Wentlian condor snake,
    In the cauldron boil and bake;

    Eye of targ, and toe of horta,
    Wool of tribble, and tongue of vorta,
    Gorns's fork, and palukoo's sting,
    Taspars's leg, and khellid's wing,

    For a charm of powerful trouble,
    Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
    Cool it with an ERPist's blood,
    Then the charm is firm and good.

    Been playing WoW for many years so figured I'd 'transfer' one of my toons over... ;)

    "Gnomes... He said his transporter would take me instantly to Ironforge. I had heard stories of people using them and being turned into chickens, figured they were just wild stories. But when I awoke in a chicken coop in Texas, I started to think otherwise. I assume there's a very confused chicken in Ironforge and a gnome trying to undo a transformation that didn't happen. Well, at least there's no orcs in this reality, right? . . . . Huh? What's a Klingon?"
    Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

    This one was my first STO character, and his bio was written before Joined Trill were playable characters:

    Tarsis Miri Valt

    Tarsis Miri knew he wanted to host a symbiot from his earliest memories, having had a joined uncle as a role model. His studies and dedication proved sufficient to earn him a place in the Academy of Science where, after several years of post-graduate studies, his application was approved by the Symbiosis Commission.

    He was given the honor of being the first host to the Valt symbiot. He was surprised, however, when immediately after joining with his new symbiot his secondary lifelong goal of scientific investigation in an academic environment changed to a desire to serve in Starfleet. He retains his desire to learn and investigate, but he does so in the field instead of behind a computer monitor.

    This one was written when the above character was at level 20, the minimum requirement for unlocking the Klingon Faction back then:

    Uh'har, son of Nevek'ah of House K'ur

    For generations the house of K'ur served many Great Houses as warriors, but has never earned the distinction of a Great House. Uh'har has dreamed of one day taking his place among the honored dead of his Lesser House as the first to earn a seat on the High Council. With the outbreak of war on his Day Of Ascension, the priests claimed it was a sign that his family would rise in the esteem of Klingons through their bravery and warriors' prowess.

    It was a long time between characters, as I was finding the grind a bit rough, and was involved in learning PvP, which was tough but possible back then once someone helped you over the learning curve. The Sad Pandas, legendary in their time, had created a sub-fleet called the Sad Panda Cubs with the intent of training budding PvP'ers. That idea morphed into PvP Academy and the Cubs were disbanded not long after. With the advent of the Romulan faction I found myself working on a third character, but I never truly left the other two behind. Ria is a Fed aligned Romulan.

    Ria

    As youngest daughter of her parents, Ria was prepared to inherit the properties and titles of her mother. Instead, she inherited her father's ancient Warbird when her mother, siblings, properties, and world ceased to exist. Ria survived the cataclysm by way of her father's stubborn insistence that she serve as his first officer so that she could learn the business of the merchant captain.

    Her father's ship, the Baat Tigalle, had been an Imperial Warbird converted to merchant duty many years earlier, and Ria spent what credit she could find re-arming her ship and 'promoting' her father's crew elsewhere so she could begin building a crew loyal to her instead of to her father.

    With parts salvaged from over a half-dozen hulks, replicated materials, and hard work, she managed to virtually rebuild Baat Tigalle. The replacement of her quantum singularity power core into which Ria installed a brand new artificial black hole of microscopic size marked a new beginning for the old Warbird, and Ria commemorated the occasion by renaming her ship Vandr Baat.

    Ria is a surviving member of the ancient aristocracy, but is as dispossessed as any Romulan. She holds no fief, administers no lands, owns no serfs or bondsmen, and yet many Romulans and most Remans blame the aristocracy, and by association her, for their current status as refugees and mendicants. The one mission of the aristocracy, protecting the people, had failed dramatically.

    So many of her peers expect to be catered to and pampered in exile, but Ria will not beg, nor will she use her family name or its worthless titles to ease her position. Instead, recalling the legends of the ancients, she seeks to restore the pride and honor of the Romulan people by assuming the role of Guardian.

    Still heavily involved in PvP at this time, I had learned that teams using Teamspeak and similar programs controlled their activities verbally, especially to focus fire and plan attacks on a specific target. I had also learned enough to know my previous characters were fatally flawed as PvP characters. Therefore I set out to make a PvP character, using what I had learned to do a better job. One thing I wanted was a character name very difficult to pronounce, so that VOIP users would not be able to easily say, "Attack Bob!" Thus was born the Pinheadian species, and captain Rllwqzthfx. (Your universal translator may malfunction: Pinheadian has never successfully been translated by machine.)

    Zrghwptpf Rllwqzthfx Sbnlkwrdhd

    Qrx thpllfn wsvxch, thrppsld jrghvbmm szswq. Zrghwptpf Rllwqzthfx kldlpgb b klgh s qrwpj. Qrxhlkmmvn rtlqp, zvpmnn s flkstxp mnb. Zpgh hsx!

    It was also at this time that I decided to build a Klingon PvP character focused on ground combat:

    Ahz

    Smallest of his clutch, his nursery monitors were surprised to see him come of age to begin schooling. As a victim of constant bullying, Ahzeek grew tough and crafty, but he failed to grow taller. Speed, wit, and a severe dislike of losing pushed him to the front of his peer group time and time again, displacing larger, less agile competitors.

    Unfortunately, right about this time my computer died, and since I had an older model which worked, I couldn't justify the expense of a new game rig. My older computer failed to load STO, and I was stuck without Trek for a while. The two characters I had made specifically for space and ground PvP never went anywhere, and now are mostly used as extra bank slots. When I returned it was Delta Recruit season, and after learning that PvP was almost entirely dead I decided to create a Delta Recruit to see what it was all about.

    Stan (Formerly S'tan, but the pronunciation was changed to 'fit in' with the many humans with whom he lived and worked.)

    Coming of age during the Wandering, this young Romulan has little patience for traditional ways. His 'get-it-fixed' attitude comes of many years of hardscrabble life when a broken machine could mean the difference between life and death.

    Although practical, this attitude understandably irritates more traditionally-minded officers. He looks to the many successes of the Federation for inspiration rather than the long-lost marvels of Romulan history.
