A long serving member of Starfleet and one of its most decorated officers, Fleet Admiral J'Sane is a veteran of countless missions throughout her long career. Enrolling at Starfleet Academy in 2363 on the engineering track, J'Sane was already different, eschewing the more conventional Vulcan pursuit of science for crawling around Jefferies tubes with a hyperspanner.
After graduating from Starfleet Academy, J'Sane had several tours of duty aboard Starfleet Corp of Engineers Saber-class vessels, rising to the rank of lieutenant in 2370. The outbreak of the Dominion War in 2373 saw J'Sane rise through the ranks quickly, achieving the rank of commander and becoming the chief engineer of the Galaxy-class USS Venture in 2374 following the death of the ships previous chief in the First Battle of Chin'toka. Following the end of the war, J'Sane chose to stay on as the Venture's chief engineer, despite being offered the command of an SCE ship.
It wasn't until 2391 when the SCE came calling for J'Sane to help with the modularity programme for all Starfleet vessels that she finally left the comfort of the Venture. With it came a promotion to Rear Admiral and a complete overhaul of the design standards that had served Starfleet well for over 250 years.
The worsening relations between the Federation and Klingons meant more experienced officers were needed to command starships and in 2401 Admiral J'Sane was succeeded in the SCE by Miles O'Brien. Returning to the Venture, this time as her commanding officer, she spent much of the next four years patrolling the Federation-Klingon border until the outbreak of war in 2405.
After playing a key role in ending the five year war between the Federation and Klingons, holding back the Voth, Undine and Borg and preventing the Vaadwaur from conquering swathes of the Delta Quadrant, J'Sane was promoted to Fleet Admiral. She is now currently commanding the Excelsior-class USS Ark Royal and is commander of the First Fleet in the Sol system.
I've been silent on what my Captain's backstory is because while I enjoyed it I always thought it was kind of goofy. But in light of the new expansion announcement ...
I was always a fan of the Kelsey Grammar episode of TNG. And so I came up with an idea pretty much inspired by that. (And when I first started playing the game I flew a Miranda and then a TOS Connie and used TOS uniforms). My captain was JT Estebano (very much a different timeline's version of JT Esteban, of the USS Grissom from Wrath of Khan, but this was set up to take place during the first five year mission so my timeline's Estebano would not ever get to be captain of the Grissom like the prime timeline's Esteban).
And him and his crew were trapped in a time loop like the Bozeman. They reappeared in 2409 and were welcomed back to Starfleet and immediately brought in to help with the crisis. At the time the war with the klingons and the problems with the Undine and the return of the borg, the overall STO story had Starfleet needing all the help it could get and my captain coming from a time where there was open war with the Klingon Empire had a helpful perspective on that.
And then I built up a storyline around that involving the B'Tran and what not.
So it seems now, with Agents of Yesterday, my "silly" headcanon and made up story for my STO Captain, is wow, really kind of in line with the game.

This is going to be fun!
