Seriously, though, does it somehow empower somebody to gripe about casual players being casual in a Normal PvE queue? Yes, your STO-peen is enormous. Now please go polish it peacefully somewhere else, like maybe an Elite queue, while less volatile folks continue to have fun.

Quoted for truth.
I would like Hanover and Trygvar to post some chat logs (names obscured of course) showing people 'often' talk about these 'fake' cores. I have never even seen somebody reply to a polite 'Hello' never mind give specific instructions.
Haven't read the whole thread, but remember the following:
- Any saved ship WILL shoot a 'fake core' if in range of it.
- Any 'pet' will shoot a fake core if in range (even when in escort mode if fired on by the Core)
- If a player also has 'auto-attack when fired on' enabled, the ship will shoot back if the fake core shoots.
So, yeah, while it's a minor annoyance that I might loose a shield facing and engines/maneuverability for a couple of seconds; overall it's not a big deal. And personally if pets are out, I'd rather have them starred and shooting the real core when it reveals itself, and if that means they trigger the occasional minor few seconds long debuff it's a fair tradeoff. (IMO - YMMV)

Realistically, you cannot expect to change what people do in a pug. What you can do though is use science team and engineering team, engineering team with delta recruit trait, rock and roll, stay out 9-10km, etc. It's a pug, there will always be people who shoot the fake core that pug, you can't change that, but you can adapt.
If you're in a team with sci players just trying to FAW the citadel instead of using science abilites against it then I have to say, the sci captains in your pug suck. The citadel has one copy of TT2 and one copy of APD2 that it constantly cycles.
Without fail, in the runs with my drain toon, the citadel goes down quickly since I strip off the shields on it very quickly.
It's annoying but I think players are getting better. Barely anyone shoots it now I find so word is spreading, but then I've done most of my runs in the DPS channels so that's to be expected.
People have been doing this since the original breach launched...months to a year later and people were still doing it...people don't give a damn...most people do STF's these days to be carried.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Yep, I call Shenanigans on anyone who claims that "someone ALWAYS mentions the cores," because in my experience, you are lucky if you get a response to a "Hello" at the beginning or a "GG" at the end. The one time I've seen better in that queue (aside from fleetmates still chatting about whatever we were talking about beforehand) was a guy telling everyone how cannons were ineffective in this queue. Right before my fleetmates, equipped with DHCs, practically vaped the dreadnaught.
Sooo... In my experience, the Team channel is either full of players who are silent, or players who are wrong.

The frequency of chat references to the "?" is inversely proportional to how long people have been grinding this event. The chances of getting someone in the team who participates for a single room and then sits there doing nothing but rolling on loot is directly proportional to how long people have been grinding this event.
Two weeks of the same STF is, evidently, too much.
Often I actually see the progammed item name before the actual ingame item name "corefalse" or something like that when it's appearing so it's really not hard to see from the get go which is false and not. Personally I always go for the real one over the fake one, it just makes life easier in general.

I can see some incredible friendliness in this thread.
