It's now about six months to go before Trek TOS has it's big five-oh celebration. Obviously, Cryptic is going to plan something big for this event (I hope they won't just do something cheesy like some week of low-level c-store unlocks). I remember the 25th Anniversary of TNG's debut was celebrated with a visit to a hologram of Worf which rewarded the player with a first season Worf shoulder sash. That was a pretty nice idea in it's visuals as well as it's rarity.
But his event is gonna be YUGE, and Cryptic has one shot to make such an event's reward truly memorable. It's gotta be something very unique and commemorative. But what might it be? A special BOFF pack consisting of holograms of all the TOS bridge cast? At least we'll finally know where Sulu is.
Speculate what you think or hope that it might be. Hopefully your post might give the Devs some ideas.

I'm confused... Are both thread necro'ing and thread duplication against the rules? OP finds a thread on a topic that OP wants to talk about, but it's more than 30 days old... OP doesn't want to break the rules, so OP starts a new thread... and then gets blasted by other users because OP didn't necro a pre-existing thread?
Personally, I don't understand the rule against thread necro'ing... I'd much rather re-open an old discussion, complete with multiple pages of other people's input than to start a new thread and end up with people stating what's already been said before on the old thread, instead of providing new thoughts to the discussion....
But that's just me, and I don't make the rules... so @aristocratsuprem, thanks for starting this thread. You followed the rules. Ignore the complainers.
They'll bring back No Win Scenario as an anniversary event, a revamped version thats a gazillion more times fun than the original, where every level cleared has a 5 minute cd between them with big flashing text over the Freighter saying Save Me, whilst enemy NPC's have Shoot Me. And a holo-projector that can only be used in sector space or social zones to make you're ship appear like a Connie as the prize lol

So out of all of the threads you just posted, not one *SINGLE* thread would have been appropriate for the OP of this thread to post his general anniversary comments in. The rest are too old or are only about a specific issue. If you are going to bother trying to lecture someone else about their thread, you should at least know what you are talking about.
And at the end of the day, if you don't like seeing anniversary threads...don't click on them. You have free will, so don't blame someone else if you don't like your own choices.
If there was one thing I would think would have even the slightest possibility of a T6 Connie, it would be this event. If it were me, I'd not only break that long-standing rule, I'd demolish it by releasing a three-pack of free T6 ships - the Connie, D7, and T'liss.
The catches, of course, being:
C-Store versions with traits at fleet grade with new unique skins would follow
freebies would be traitless, but they would be full T6 ships and not T5U's
C-Store versions would lack classic skins by default - you'd have to have acquired the limited-run 50th Anniversary versions to get those skins.
This encourages players to participate in the event, provides new ships that don't inherently break the "no connie" rule, limits the numbers of true T6 Connies, and provides a long-desired item for many players, all in one fell swoop.
It almost certainly won't be any of that, but based on how Cryptic has done things in the past, if it did, that would be how.

RE: Necroposting & Spamming. Technically speaking, both bumping 30+ day old threads and starting extra threads when a topic is already open is "against the rules".
But, not that simple. It's really easy to do by accident. I even did it when I was a Mod.
Assume it was a mistake and get a Mod's attention and let them fix it. They can close it or merge it or even decide it's best to leave it alone.
The reason for the 30 day rule is to prevent the spread of obsolete information. Not only does obsolete info create problems for players, it can also cause unnecessary flame wars when people argue or complain about something that shouldn't be a problem anymore. It can also reopen flame wars when people don't realize the argument was over six months ago.
As with other rules, it exists to give Mods a justification to deal with problem threads.
I'm loving the idea of the original cast as bridge officers, I'd settle for them as doffs in the legendary range and a legendary original Enterprise ship
I think CBS will release some info on the new show. If it's an image of the ship for the show then STO might add that to the game.

So here it goes:
PROPHETS' VISIONS - While you play STO you will at random times and without any warning be interrupted by very difficult and enigmatic visions by prophets (wormhole aliens). This will happen regardless of what you are currently doing in STO and even during STFs, missions and other aspects of game. You won't be able to turn off that feature and it will happen across all of your characters regardless of faction. Besides that you won't be able to skip visions even when you've been through all of them. And in case you get killed (or your ship gets destroyed) during a vision, you will have to start all over and have to see the vision again. You could of course ask what the prophets are trying to tell you exactly, but you would never get a straight forward answer so you will have to figure what you should do on your own. If you fail the task given by the vision you will have to repeat it all again (including vision review) until you finally solve it.
Now that I think of it that could be quite fun actually and annoying at the same time

A new story arc with VO from Shatner, Stewart, Brooks, Mulgrew and Bakula - all linked into the temporal war stuff we seem to be heading for anyway as our characters are sent backwards and forwards through time and interact with legendary figures from different points in history.
Premise could be that the Na'kuhl/Krenim/both have altered the timeline so that these figures for some reason cannot do the things for which they are famous - perhaps they'll try to kill Picard before he takes over the Ent-D, or alter things so that Janeway never made it back from the Delta Quadrant for example.
