The "What Will Cryptic Do On Trek's 50th Anniversary?" thread

It's now about six months to go before Trek TOS has it's big five-oh celebration. Obviously, Cryptic is going to plan something big for this event (I hope they won't just do something cheesy like some week of low-level c-store unlocks). I remember the 25th Anniversary of TNG's debut was celebrated with a visit to a hologram of Worf which rewarded the player with a first season Worf shoulder sash. That was a pretty nice idea in it's visuals as well as it's rarity.

But his event is gonna be YUGE, and Cryptic has one shot to make such an event's reward truly memorable. It's gotta be something very unique and commemorative. But what might it be? A special BOFF pack consisting of holograms of all the TOS bridge cast? At least we'll finally know where Sulu is. ;)

Speculate what you think or hope that it might be. Hopefully your post might give the Devs some ideas.

    They already told in a tweet "To think BIG for the anniversary". And that "we (the players) weren't thinking BIG enough."

    If they're going to play coy, then I want Shatner for a series of episodes. And ill settle for no less.

    If you are asking for my pie in the sky hopes?
    Move the Klingon D7 to tier1 and then have some period missions and maybe pvp. D7/Connie/T'liss action.

    Like the TNG anniversary, get someone known to the factions to be there in hologram form to speak to the various factions. Getting Shatner to do the voice work for his iconic character would be the grandslam on that sort of thing.

    A one time reward. . . That is harder. We have or can get the TOS weapons. Either by buying the TOS pack or running night of the comet. TOS uniforms are already around for all the factions as are the ships. We get Horta's and tribbles. What is left in TOS we don't have that is that Iconic other than the various costumes for the girl of the week?
    The Worf sash was great and any character I have that got it wears it. So what could we get/do?

    Actually, that wasn't about the anniversary per say, just 'this year'. Geko said big things were coming 'this year'.

    If it were up to me, my personal choice for a special reward would be a holo-BOFF of M'ress, WITH the hair.

    Playable Cardassian faction, NO! Playable Tribble Faction. NO! playable Horta faction, Horta scored pretty well a few years back in a poll. Seriously though, playable Cardassian faction or that indipendant Borg faction.

    Really though it should be linked with TOS.

    I'd like to think this was indicating a full expansion. I know that's just speculation for now, but that would be very "big" especially if it came with a new mini-faction. (A DS9 fan and Cardassian faction hopeful can dream right? :D ) After all, by then it will have been the same amount of time since DR as between DR and LoR. (And yes, two events a pattern does not make, but it's still worth considering) On the other hand, since a DS9 themed expac has been more speculated on (at least since DR and it's Voyager theme), if they wanted to come out of left field the expansion could be time travel back to the TOS era themed which would definitely pay homage on the anniversary and could include any surviving and willing TOS cast members. o:) (No T6 Connie comments though please :* ... sorry Connie fans.) It might also serve as a good connection or coda to season 11's already in progress "temporal war" theme. Still, I think I'd still prefer a DS9 expansion, but again that's just me and I guess I'd really be happy with anything unexpected. :)

    Indeed. They should also have him turn another rap song into a spoken word piece.

    Think big.....could it be a Borg Cube for us players?
    They did say that there working on making the 3 piece borg rep set a 4 piece (as well as the other 3 piece rep sets into 4 piece's I believe).

    I still want to know what the "secret" project Dan Stahl is working on for PWE...

    I think it's something Star Trek related and my hope is that it's some kind of Original Series Game/Server.

    I know it's a very long shot, but I like to dream BIG.

    They'll publish a mission where we break the timeline and end up in the JJVerse with a T1 JJConnie. Lens flare included at no extra charge.

    Cardassian/Dominion faction! Honestly even a Cardassian faction without Dominion would be more than enough for me. It is perfectly plausible for 50th anniversary of Star Trek.
