So I got a few carriers etc, jem'hadar . command battle cruiser etc and I am wondering
out of curiousity which is best for survival. which combo is best for damage?
I hear that jem'hadar with the attack ships is the supreme champ, is it worth 750 million to get the attack ship just to get the combo cause I got the carrier but not the attack ship. is there a way to gear the pets to do different damage or better damage/survivability?
Please be curtious and not flame me for asking.
Thank you

Now the all around best combo is without a doubt elite Jemmie attack ships on a JHDC. However if you're like me and don't have 750 mil lying around elite scorpions for pure damage or yellow stones/ delta flyers if you want stuff slowed down.
Sadly you can't gear the pets. The new Skill system has abilities to buff pets and they recently gave them a buff in the last patch so that'll help but you can't like put weapons on them. Also remember on carriers in this game it's not like WW2 where they are the primary offensive armament. The actual carrier you control will be doing the most damage with your pets supporting you in that endeavor.
The Sarr Theln is nice because the plesh breks have energy dissapators which can easily knock out your target's shields.
In both cases, the nice thing about the the pets isn't their straight dps, but how they help you/the team.
The Baltim Raiders come with 3 arrays and when it comes to pets arrays are better than cannons because the AI doesn't know how to line up the ships for shots. The Raiders also come with transphasic torpedos which is what makes the Swarmers so great. It allows pets to punch through shields which is the weakest point of any pet. They may lack Overload (great shield shredder) which the JHAS frigates come with but instead they come with High Yield for better hull damage. The Iconian frigates also come with raider flanking which allows them to do more damage as they circle around their targets. They are extremely nimble and they do ram targets which I believe is why people like the JHAS pets. However, the Baltim Raiders don't need to die or be below 50% hp to initiate their ramming. All of this makes the Raiders are strong contestant to the JHAS frigates. Plus, you see them too beacuse of their fancy engine trails and energy color.
As for the Mirs, they are most certainly on par with the Swarmers. They do also ram their targets, come with Beam Overload and transphasic torpedos.
My list of competitive lockbox carriers:
*Two hangar slots
1. Vonph Dreadnought Carrier
2. Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier
3. Jem'hadar Dreadnought Carrier
*One hangar slot
1. Tarantula
2. Sheshar
I admit I enjoy seeing 12 Advanced Slavers (As I couldn't afford Elite at the time) firing beam arrays and spamming mines is fun. Ran them on my Mirror Vo'Quv, now have them on reserve on my Sarr Theln KDF side.
Fed side most of my carrier experience came from the Sarr Theln and the Vesta. Ran Yellowstones on the Vesta.
That aside, carriers vary in function. Talking 2 bay only, 1 bay ships are not carriers.
The 2 bay stuff has engineer, science, and tactical ships so its hard to compare "best".
The only advice I can give would be ...
figure out what officer seating/ consoles / weapon layout fits your needs, and try to find something with frigate pets that matches in t6. The t5u ships can be really nice but they are already behind the curve... the recluse is still awesome, but its not what it once was...
How to attain that carrier? Vonph Dreadnought? Lock box lucky?

I'm on Tribble messing with my Sci captains build, she flies the Sarr Theln with Adv. Plesh Breks, just for a laugh I went into Argala normal, launched them, set them to attack mode and sat back and left them to do all the work, they ripped the Hirogen apart. They might have cannons but they didn't show any signs of having trouble keeping their firing arc on target, quite the opposite as they regularly fired off their tachyon beams, all I did was follow them around to stay in range and pop off the odd hull/shield heal for them.
The Plesh Brek raider pets are quite good against any enemy that has shields and/or power levels. You can also use the Sarr Theln carrier console right after they finish their tach beam, torpedo high yield, and rapid fires so they can use all of that again, and be really tanky for those 15 seconds as well (they can survive the blast from CCA with that console.)
I wouldn't mind seeing a game with all Sarr Theln carriers and Plesh Brek hangers just for fun.
Well that is my point. There are diff flavors of carrier. Recluse has that uni cmdr, tarantula has a eng cmdr, you can't compare that. The recluse has 4 sci consoles. Its a 3/3 layout because its meant to be a sci ship, of an antique design (game has changed some) that was often played tactically (because it can slot that cmdr tac). I would argue the upgraded recluse is the breen freebie (full of sci and has an OSS). I sold the tarantula and funded my paradox with it ... I have no use for eng cmdrs (playstlye thing, not offense to ppl that like these).
Recluse still has one of the best pets ever. The ship is just not quite up to par anymore though.
The bottom line is there are not many t6 carriers:
breen (call it science), has frigates
herald, (call it tac), with frigates (uber pricy)
Jupiter, (call it science, inferior to breen in most regards).
Or you can drop down to the t5s. Of the t5s, there are some gems, but they are behind the curve.
More are bound to come out this year. Just a matter of time.
Whatever the Slavers steal is gravy, the weapons on the Slavers are reliable, they go well with my Qin Fleet Deck Raptors trait which allows me to give them BO, and I like the fluff. At Elite they have Disruptor Beams, Photon Torpedoes, and Quantum Mines. They can also steal loot like EC, Contraband, Prisoner Doffs, and commodities. They also steal crew, which is a seperate mechanic, and I'm wondering how removing the functional part of the crew mechanic will effect Orion Slavers, will it reduce hull regeneration?
The Orion Interceptors have more Hull Points because the Slavers Hull Points got nerfed for no reason, but they still manage to have simular levels of servivablity (but I have both Scamble Fighters and Reactive Nanite Repairs traits so I have no problem keeping them repaired and they're easily replaced when I lose one).
Orion Interceptors also have tractor beam 1, the ability to drain engine power and weapons power, chroniton torpedoes to further slow and oppentent and Disruptor Pulse cannon.
And they have hyper impulse, so basically their impulse engines are the opposite of the Callistos :P, just teasing, but they are they fastest hangar small craft in the game.
So Orion Intercepters, are well really good at Incepting the enemy and then locking it down.
Orion Slavers are more mini pirate ships that steal off and kidnap enemy crew, which doesn't do much in practice but IC would have to scare the TRIBBLE out of enemy pilots, because no matter if your the more skilled pilot, they can beam you out while your shields are up, and then your ship is left fighting on auto pilot.
Does anyone know what the replacement mechanic is for the Slavers crew draining mechanic?
Right now, my tests show they are not stealing anything. I've posted in Tribble bug forum and I am hoping that the problem is because of crew removal from ships. Whatever the problem is, I hope they fix it befor this goes to Holodeck.
I like them too... the visuals are good too and even better with a web on your foes
At least they seem to be working and not just sitting idle like other pets.
It does not bring anything unique or interesting to the table and it gets even worse when you compare it to the alternatives that are in the game even those old T5 ships have some interesting alternatives.
And as someone mentioned "Scratch the Paint": This should be standard on all pets due to the shortcomings of the AI in this game.
If Feds didn't know how to play a SCI Carrier on Atrox, what made people believe they'd do any better on the Jupiter?
Have you ever tried using those BOP hangar units in PVP? LOL! I have... Talk about A-W-F-U-L!
Edit: I'm drifting OT a bit, but on thinking back on my time when I did PVP, Frigates in general were garbage. The better hangar units in PVP were due to their utility, because in terms of firepower, all hangar units were next to worthless in doing damage against players. This was why stuff like Elite Orion Interceptors, Yellowstones were far more useful and dangerous.
Have you ever tried Elite Plesh Brek breen raiders in PvP? They completely nuke the player's shields instantly with that tach beam, and they spam that beam all the time...
