These articles were very well written and I enjoyed learning about the USS Yorktown and why we have a Yorktown class ship now. Nice that the Federation was able to recycle the hulls of some damaged ships and put them back into the fight. With this release, I would love if they went back to Midnight to add the ship for game canon's.

    Awesome stuff

Would read again and would love to see more of this kinda thing, really adds to the personality of the ships, adds lore and weight to them entering the game.

Oh my. I think I have a better reason to buy these ships now.

It's great work, that actually sold the 3 variants for me, the ships feel more personal now!

A travel brochure... penned by Jake Sisko, perhaps?

    The Sisko writes well....

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

Wonderful idea ... reminds me of the yearbooks that were (or still are?) produced for many of the Nato Air Forces. Hmmm ... Keenser/Pegg heavy impulse engines on the Science variant - possible hint at a Temporal mix-up incoming?

Would love to see more of this .... even some back issues detailing iconic historical ships.

Very nicely done. As a ship person I really appreciate getting mass, dimensions, and sub-class descriptions along with the release of the ships. I kept thinking “I have to buy the whole pack again…” But getting history and details like this – especially for the Fed flagships – makes a purchase a no-brainer.

It seems someone had mentioned that these vessels were built at Earth, Mars, and Andor...

I wonder which was built at Andor...

if i read correctly, or even just the ship patches I saw on twitter, the engineering was built on andor, tactical on mars, and science on earth

hey, can we have the second spread as a wallpaper?
  • tousseautousseau Member Posts: 1,484 Arc User
    @miirik

TY... I didn't catch the patches.
I was half expecting the tac to have built on Andor, considering the angular aspects being reminiscent
Of the Andorian vessels, along with those it is patterned after.

Actually, while we're on the subject, a yearbook or a Starfleet/KDF/Rom resource website patterned after government websites would be cool, especially if we're headed for an election plot.

Or 24th century Buzzfeed meets HuffPo. The "reporter" headset is more or less in the game. It'd be fun if it had different styles. Gossip/buzz/speculation about upcoming features could be handled as a Perez Hilton-meets-Rita Skeeter kind of thing and a great way to give players unreliable hints about longterm features since we'd know to take it with a grain of salt.

I could see Jake Sisko owning his own news service. He always seemed uncomfortable with pressures imposed by Starfleet and his step-mom was an independent businesswoman. It could be a very shoestring internet news kind of thing, right?

And each of the reporters could have different relationships with Jake, apparent in the style of their articles. His wife Korena could cover religion and unsolved mysteries from a Bajoran perspective. Tessa Omond could be a science correspondent (she was Chakotay's lover in an alternate 2390 in "Timeless"). Natima Lang (Quark's on-again, off-again girlfriend who's a big deal in the Cardassian government) might have a kid who does the investigative pieces. I think it would be fun if the gossip columnist was a first class jerk who avoids getting fired by being good friends with Jake, despite sometimes questionable ethics and occasionally shoddy reporting.

    Wow.
Please do this more often for new ships!

So nice to see some proper background to the stuff we use in game.

Well done. And after seeing more pictures of the ships I must say they do look really nice now.

I'm behind on using ships I had bought.... but after something as crisp as this (reminds me of some of the old blueprint books)... I may have to get the flagships.

Though I *am* kinda disappointed the in game Endeavour doesn't come with 21 Mk XIV phaser arrays like the article says it does :)

As I already noted in another thread, this is brilliant. It made me appreciate both the Yorktown and the Sojourner and gave some background to all the ships.
