your idea that they copied the NX is flawed, not only did enterprise copy the Akira class which is widely known but the nessele pylons point down not up.

Ha har, I see it instantly. Nice. Is this an upcoming tier 6 ship?

And, IMO, we now finally have enough parts to assemble the silhouette of the NX! You can see all of the Akira classes in game in the album below, with the very last pic being my "kitbash" from the OP:
PS: I'm *not* saying Cryptic "copied" anything. As many have stated, the NX was based on the Akira design(in real life). The title of this thread was simply a joke, and it's been very entertaining reading all of the replies
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
According to Doug Drexler, the producers of ENTERPRISE originally wanted to just use the Akira model for the shows hero-ship.
It took a lot of convincing from him and Herman Zimmerman to adjust it enough, so that it looked more like the era the show took place in.

I too, am still confused... but I have a guess about what's going on.
You customized a ship, swapping out certain parts so that you could make a ship that, from one angle, looks similar to another ship. You wanted to share your kitbash.
Is that correct? Because, if that's not, then I'm terribly confused.

No one should be confused at this point. I posted earlier this morning what this thread was "really about". Well before jamjam's post. Anyone confused at this point just isn't reading
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

Live Free or Die! we take that motto very much to heart here. New Hampshire the only State that keeps it's hands out of your paycheck and shopping cart. Love being a Granite Stater.
Chronilogically speaking, the Akira is based on the NX, just flipped over.
and in real life, the NX is based on the Akira, just flipped over
I don't really have the desire to dig up the source but it's there.
Um no the NX isn't based off Akira. Doug Drexler designed it based off the Matt Jefferies Enterprise and the TMP refit. There are many many cues in it from the Enterprise. At one point before he took the Drex files down he went into a lot of detail on the NX. The Impulse drive is the TOS Enterprise spilt down the middle. The pylons are taken from the refit along with other things.

ALL of which he and Herman Zimmerman had to fight tooth and nail to get the producers of the show to agree with.
And Berman and such, did simply want to use the Akira with a different color scheme.
This too was also described in Doug's old blogs (The DREX Files), which unfortunately he closed down a couple of years ago due to the amount of negative backlash he was getting from assorted sources. (which is too long of a sordid story to get into here).

Yep! While Davey from our almost-neighboring state was trying to say there was no state that wouldn't tax you, I felt I needed to say something to defend the Granite State's record on the matter.

Actually, it's been out a while:

However, I only just bought it last night

Closer than ever...but still doesn't feel it.
Most CONFUSING thread EVER! Congrats OP
I'm surprised a lot of people didn't catch on to this, unless Star Trek wasn't on your radar back in 2001.
See page one.
