Omega Trace farming...how much can you take?

I find myself unable to really farm the traces for more than an hour a day if that. I prefer actually playing the game. Whats the longest session have you done so far?

Just enough for the Qmendations, that's it. Anything more is just pure tedium. It's kind of surprising to me seeing so many herds of players flocked around them just sitting there grazing away at them : P. but then I'm kinda spoiled with cashing everything out I need with EC I guess, even if I am sorta frugal.

My friend, 1 Hr a day is more then enough. If you do that until the end of the event, you'll have more then enough to become space rich.
It's probably dangerous to overdo it anyway, like that episode of TNG "The Game" where Riker brings back that visor game from Risa, and the entire crew gets addicted, (except Wesley and Ashley Judd)
Don't let the Omega mini-game take over your brain.
Don't become one of those people who stand next to one trace for 5-6 hrs at a time.
    It's unhealthy.

Ya last year I never did it for more than 30min at a time and I plan to do the same this year, though maybe only on days that im really bored.

I get enough for the daily and then I'm done. I realize that those particle components are worth a lot of EC, but playing the game (or doing other things with my time) is worth slightly more EC to me.

I've done it a ton... have 9 omega upgrades.. 250 of each trace.. 10 fragments 50 shards.. I listen to music or talk on TS and just move the mouse around... than again I used to love mining in EVE

I made about 45 or 50 last year. This year will be more like 30 - which is 2430 traces. Unless the lag gets better. Then I'll double it.

I missed out quite a bit last year because I didn't know the significance of it and the lack of basic gears with good stats. Now I'm making up for it this year. But once I get everything upgraded I probably won't bother again.

A lot. I hate fun and have a high tolerance for profitable activity, especially when it stops being fun. I only start to enjoy an activity when I've turned it into work. If you hate grinding, this may not be the game for you.

Actually you can play it just like you can play SWTOR. Take long breaks and then come back for new story content. Both games allow you to pretty much ignore the grind and do that. You just won't be uber.

I do maybe 5 minigames per location per day. I'll probably only end up with 4-5 Omega upgrades but I'll keep my sanity :)

I have farmed them for hours on end. I have enough to make 111 omega tech upgrades and I am still shooting for more. My wrist hurts but I just push through the pain. I would say I have farmed 5000 red so far. I sell the reds and keep the others for the techs.

I put on some tunes and push through them.

I'm going to hold them until a crafting weekend and make them really count.

Well I did my Dailies for the Anniversary, Doffing, Path to 2009, Admiralty with stop offs at the Fleet Mine and Commendation turn in and instead of Particle chasing or levelling up the ship Mastery (done on the Paradox yesterday after less than a day), I went to Risa. Who'd of thought to go to the beach in the winter.

Got all the Accolades done but Pavyl. One down three to go there. Only one instance so you couldn't jump between them to finish him up quick. Got the Orinthologist Title as well. Nice place. Calm there floating through the skies. Maybe tomorrow I'll take out the Future Flyer Power Board.

...but why would I want to do that? This sounds dangerously like fun. I prefer soulless grinding, thanks. I wasn't being sarcastic about it, I genuinely prefer things that aren't fun.

Sorry, I guess I'm getting old in my senility.

LOL I did about 6 hours today, and going to do a long stretch tomorrow too. Next upgrade weekend I am going to get a lot of gold gear.

    That's unreal.

Take care when going overboard as nerve strain isn't easy to get rid of. Last year I farmed so many that my shoulder hurt, and this year from just 2-3 hours that same spot acted up. Now I'm back at it a bit while listening to interesting radio shows, so in that sense it can be quite a productive mini-game while enjoying the many nice locations STO has to offer, but trying a different strategy: hold the mouse between both hands and pushing it with thumbs and fingers along a book on the lap so the arms rest as relaxed as possible. If this too leads to any strain, or if I run out of shows to listen to, I'm done with the event as injury or not having enough fun isn't worth it.

    6.....hours?....Of that game? 6?....

    Mine is
    2 min 30 seconds.

You have done more in one day than i'll do over the whole event.

I generally do around an hour a day.. but not every single day. I'm pretty good at it, so I already have around 18 or so kits just from doing it casually and have enough mats to make quite a few more. It's pretty easy to get mats if you can consistently score 2300 or better. I spread mats among my alts so I can craft on 5 characters.

Today I didn't touch it at all, tomorrow I might do another hour. I actually like the mini game, so I'll play it when I feel like it, then when I get sick of it, I stop.

    0.o?

Score 2300? Hell... I'm lucky if I can hit 850 (600 average), so I mainly get 1 trace at a time.

So, I generally don't bother... I start up the game and play while I read a book or watch tv.

I do the daily every day on everyone of my characters. If I feel like it, I'll harvest more.

    Hm. My numbers...

    Red: 482
    Blue: 517
    Yellow: 486

    Sliver: 478
    Shard: 47
    Fragment: 4

Also: I just discovered that I have to be at a mailbox to get my items back from the exchange. I lost a lot of product because of that! The people who designed this game...what were they thinking?! Make those items go into the bank or the overflow bag.

    Had to rant.

It's a lot easier if you use the mouse instead of the keyboard. Using the mouse, even on a bad run you should easily break 2k. On the Keyboard, I can't get more then a few hundred.

For me three scans a day is the tolerance threshold. Glad I don’t have to do more to get the cool sci ship on all my nine toons. Some will fly it, some just want the card and others just the trait.

i dont know how much i could take, last year i stuck to the minimum and this year so far i am doing the same. however i plan to set some time aside before long to find out and collect what i can. i want to try get maybe 30 omega upgrade techs for a new character i am running and a few on the side for my main, her ship weapons have barely been improved in years, a number of them are still at mk 11.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

I spend long enough to do three rounds of each color.

6 ... hours... of ANY game? Man, I don't put that many hours on STO in a week. I don't know how people can play games all day. That would drive me frickin' insane.

With my Rep work. I can only fit in a little on the omega gathering. Right now I'm working on 20 traces of each to start crafting. That is my start goal. If I hit that, and see how much time on the event is. I will try for 20 more of each. This is daily. Weekends, I know I will really gather some to hit my goal faster.
