Just for poops and giggles I timed myself today. I had defera ground, vulcan space, and drazana ground. So they were pretty spaced out and I had quite a few map transitions. It took me a little over 9 minutes from the time I picked up the mission to the time I turned it in.
I wouldn't say those are spaced out. One is a rep warp and two are mission warps. That's pretty much no sector space travel at all, plus by being mission warps, you're saved the bother of having to beam up. That's pretty much a best-case scenario right there. Unfortunately, these are extremely anomalous scenarios that there is no means of reproducing. They just don't happen in the real world. The usual scenario is 3 ground maps, none of which are a mission/rep warp, at least one of which will require to use a rep warp anyway, where you then have to exit the system to reach sector for another 2 load screens. All this loading will undoubtedly crash the game at some point, since they seem to have added a new memory leak that skyrockets RAM usage until it eventually blows out the 32bit 2GB cap and goes boom.
Like I said: The daily is awful, especially compared to all the other dailies for the other events, which involve no load screen hell at all. The farming, on the other hand, I actually like. You can spend hours and hours focussed on one thing and really get in the zone for it, instead of constant annoying interruptions. Much more work-like. Work is good.
Sorry, but nothing you've written here is anything close to what I've been experiencing in game. I'm the first person to be critical of cryptic, and I've got no problems pointing out bugs and what not, but this event has been working fine for me since they patched it last week. Is it boring and tedious? Yes, in my view it certainly is... hence why I'm not farming omega particles, but it's working as intended/advertised and its pretty simple to earn that ship if you want it.
I think it takes me around 5-10 mins to complete daily. That's even with getting spaced out places like DS9, Drozana and SB39 (those are probably the most spaced out you can get!).
Using transwarp only gets you to one place and has a CD so even that won't help too much, same with slipstream. But despite all that it really takes very little time. And you can start it from anywhere via the calendar, unlike Q'sWW which you need to speak to him to get there, or Risa where you have to physically be there.
I think anyone who find this event too much hard work is playing the wrong sort of game. This is a space game, you need to travel to planets and beam up/down to them.
