Did it for 2 hours last night. My longest single run yet. By the time I threw in the towel, my wrist was not following my commands properly and my vision was starting to blur. I blame the hard day at work. I shall use the people in this thread as inspiration to push harder!
It's probably a good thing my gaming sessions are typically not that long.
i am currently in the process of processing these omega traces, slithers, shards and fragments into something, it is going to take a long time before they are turned into tech upgrades.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Have to confess, as amazing as the Omega upgrades are - I simply can't bring myself to play that tedious mini-game.
But... this is anniversary. We celebrate. We celebrate the grind that was and the grind that is yet to come. We celebrate with grinding of the first kind, followed by grinding of the second kind.
I wonder if the Omega farmers realize that they're mitigating a dilithium sink, which leads to higher Zen prices on the exchange.
ZEN prices have actually went down since the opening of the Anniversary event. They were closing in on 340 per ZEN just before, and now they're hovering around 300-305 territory.
That market's been a mess recently, regardless of what's going on.
the omega has little to no influence on the dilithium exchange.
is there a chance we can get back to the 290's? slight. depends on how soon the next sale is posted. if we get upgrade event instead we may see like 288 or so which would be the last time we will see under 300.

None.
Actually I don't even know what's going on right now: not even logging in since ages.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.
I had a pretty good 2 hour run last night, there were hardly any lag at the locations I visited. I basically stayed in the 2,000 to 2,700 zone for nearly the entire time. I got around 105 - 110 slivers so excluding the traces that's basically 4 omega upgrades once they get processed.

yes i was wondering where this idea of dilithium comes into the omega tech upgrades earlier on. it takes no dilithium to upgrade and use, and you only need ec to buy stuff to upgrade or get some more accelerators.

Well after a few days of solid grind I have managed to get the kcb, bio turret, and iconian engines to UR from mk14VR. Usually quite a pricey undertaking that I might spend zen-dil to do so I am a happy, (if slightly traumatised by omega particles) camper. Just the deflector to do and I can turn my attentions to improving other cheaper items such as weapons. Seriously though, I spend a year waiting, preparing and hoping for this event, and by the end of it I may well be found by my wife slumped on my keyboard with blood pouring out of my eyes. Maybe once a year is a good thing.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
I pick three characters to gather particles, and I farm 12 particles of each color a day on those characters (counting the daily on my original character for the Q thingies). And I go from there.
I may do some farming on other characters in between. But I'm just going with the flow, instead of outright grinding. Too tedious.
already gave up, way too tedious for my taste, i'll deal with not getting the ship.
You can't be serious?
I understand if someone doesn't want to grind the mini game for Omega Kits, but you can't even hack the daily?
All you have to do is start the game, collect one single particle and move on. You do that 3 times a day, and you get a free T6 ship. It takes maybe 10 min and that's spending 8 of those minutes traveling where you need to go.
As far as effort/reward goes, it will never be any easier then this. You don't even have to play the game, Q doesn't care about your score. You have to do almost nothing, the only way it could be easier is if they gave you the ship just for logging in.
The first time the Omega Particle Collection came out, I grinded madly for them. This time around, I do enough to get the daily done so I can get the vouchers and get the free ship. I understand why people are heavy into getting the particles. But it's just beyond boring for me and I have more fun things to do with the time I spend in the game.
Wow...That's lazy. Can't do it once a day? Like I said earlier I totally understand not wanting to farm the event (I'm not cause it's mind numbing) but it's tolerable to do it once a day. Takes maybe 10 minutes at most.
I wonder if the Omega farmers realize that they're mitigating a dilithium sink, which leads to higher Zen prices on the exchange.
I wonder if dilithium sellers realize absolutely no one cares about subsidizing their gaming and their constant whining about the exchange rate is kinda pathetic.
@ruinthefun that's bs is takes me like 10 or 15 minutes to do all three points. No way would it take 15 minutes for just load screens.
Said it all for me. Ruin, that was a bunch of garbage and you know it.
I do this event every day, usually at least 2 of the zones are right next to each other. Even if it was true, you're saying that this event is a grind because of.. loading screens?
I'm sorry, but that's so ridiculous it's laughable. You can't do the worlds easiest event for a free T6 ship because of.. loading screens?
Seriously, that's hysterical. I have done this daily every single day since the event started and never once has it taken more then 10 minutes.
@ruinthefun yeah I saw your math it just doesn't make any sense. The load screens do not take that long. If they do maybe you should upgrade your Commodore 64.
Who said "can't"? That was someone else. I was just agreeing that this is the worst of the event grinds. At least the Party Crashers were contained and involved no additional load screens.
You're right, that wasn't you.. my bad.
I'm sorry if you feel that the daily for this is a grind, I don't agree, but to each their own. Honestly, I never even noticed the load screens, they're over before I even realize it.. but fair enough. In the end everyone will determine for themselves if they feel the reward is worth the effort. I feel that in this case it is, but I understand that others will feel differently.
I understand people not wanting to grind for Omega Kits, I get that. I'll admit though, I'm surprised that anyone finds the daily to be any effort at all. Sorry you feel that way.
For the mini-game I just set it to run and do some doffing or admiralty, or chat to my fleet whilst doing the daily.
If I'm seriously grinding some particles out then I just do say 30-40 of each per day and have some good music on in the background to give me something to listen to, something good and angry to keep me awake!
One thing I'd like to see added next time is some doff & admiralty missions to collect traces, like we have with the winter event. That would add a new avenue to acquire them and take away some of the tedium.
Just for poops and giggles I timed myself today. I had defera ground, vulcan space, and drazana ground. So they were pretty spaced out and I had quite a few map transitions. It took me a little over 9 minutes from the time I picked up the mission to the time I turned it in.
I'd rather not come back to this thread & have to close it, because some people cannot discuss without having a verbal exchange & without getting all heated up & unnecessarily personal. Just a friendly reminder; if this keeps up, this thread will be closed. Let's play nice, shall we?

I'm talking about for the vast majority, not a small handful of people that have computer or internet issues. Your experience is far from 'the norm.'
