    It might actually be worth getting the Valiant. now.

    The set honestly should've included the Quad Cannons from the get-go, but nevertheless I'm happy with this change! The Defiant will be more Defiant-y now! Yippee!

    Hmm... Can I get the 2 piece bonus on my Gal X? I can put the cannon and the cloak on it...

    Didn't need to happen, all they had to do is change the two piece...just another money driven F-U to the other factions.

    So in the interest of fairness they are going to add an additional hardpoint forward that will accept the quad disruptor cannons on the Kor?

    Not exactly semalda. It still requires the full Defiant set to turn the cloak into a battlecloak, so you're not only locking yourself to Phaser, but sacrificing 2 console slots to get said battlecloak. So there is some give and take like with anything else.

    My main flies a 'Stealth Fighter' Valiant (using the Defiant skin, of course), and while I'm sure to enjoy the battle cloak, I kind of agree with this sentiment.

    To me this just them equalizing the three ships that are part of a pack, since out of the three only the defiant needs to use a console to gain even a cloak that is not even equal to the other two ship's base-line enhanced battle-cloak (which gives you the ability to use torps/mines an abilities without dropping your cloak as well as cloak even in combat), but must also even go with the full three piece set to get a still gimped battle-cloak that the other three have a better version as base-line. I would say more that the player-base has said they want Federation as the majority of the player base play federation, mind you though i would rather see them give more variety an interest to the other factions in ships an such.

    I actually don't mind the Defiant set getting Battle Cloak. The overwhelming, vast majority of this current player base doesn't even use cloaks nor even know their ship has the capacity to use cloaks, much less maximize stealth warfare / "Cloak & Poke" tactics. Not to mention the often repeated statement, "Cloaking lowers my DPS." Even most Romulans I see ingame probably don't realize their Warbirds have the best cloaks in the game. Hell, they likely don't even know their ships even cloak. Or even the current KDF playerbase no longer knows how to make use of cloaks and the Bird of Prey :D

    Romulan players are excused - the NPCs don't use cloak either. :p

    LOL - I'm not even phased by it. Its not exactly like its going to affect me ever. I can run any missions on Elite solo with a T5 ship and still not break a sweat. Perhaps a cramp in my arm from Cryptic's fixation in mouse clicks.

    To those complaining about Starfleet getting better equipment than the other factions: This is still a very costly way of getting a battle cloak. Two consoles and a subpar weapon (sure enough, it's a good weapon, but you know somebody will mention it's not a perfect weapon eventually... and then there's draining engine power in exchange for still being relatively inferior :tongue:), and being locked into phasers.

    Not that it's going to stop me if I pick up the Valiant, of course, because I love toys like that - but the fact remains that the Kor and the Malem both get a better cloak without those kinds of sacrifices. (Arguably, they make other sacrifices instead... :neutral:)

    Now I do love the KDF and bird of preys but the way that defiant was set up without battle cloaking it drove me straight to KDF from the start lol. I'm usually one to blah blah about uniqueness but this is a welcome change I might actually start playing again lol.

    Quad Cannons do more damage than any other energy weapon, I should know, I have all three types! At EPIC MK XIV they register at 1.998k DPS before any enhancements compared to 1.4k DPS for an EPIC MK XIV Array.

    The Quad Cannons are nice but don't quite have perfect mods nor the right energy type for ideal DPS. The extra mod should make up for this hopefully. Cannons themselves are subpar beyond imagination right now which is the main problem.

    In the beginning of a new ROM and KDF characters and while I was levelling (and didn't know the best ways to or whip equipment would actually help me), a battle cloak was ESSENTIAL for me to get through some of the episodes.
