Same here, i can't even load into the first character selection screen due to new drivers from AMD.
Please fix this as this driver does so much better with assassin's creed, and i am not going back to old drivers.

I found out that if i start it in safe mode i can play and improve the settings aftewards, but if i play i cannot reduce to icon on desktop or switch program window or when i open it back it freezes in a way i have to press "power" to shut down the pc; in reagard to graphical options i also discovered that i have more stability under dx9.
I went into the Radeon Settings control panel and in the gaming section, I disabled the profile for STO, but it made no difference.
Uninstalled all the AMD software, reinstalled using the 11/24 minimal installer, launched the game, let it validate all files (it gave a warning), but still no luck.
If there's no fix in this Thursday's weekly update, I'll roll back to 15.7.1 as Dragaan suggested.
Hmmm....just decided to come back to Star trek online from having taken a break since this summer and same thing happens to me. Installed the Crimson Edition yesterday and now Star trek Online crashes on loading screen. Not going to roll back my drivers so for me, it depends on how long it take to fix on wheter I will come back as a sub or if I grown tired and moved on to another game if it takes to long.
for me personally, I'm not going back to the old drivers. Cryptic needs to start putting more fixes into the game. Last year, two weeks into the christmas event, using my headphones (main audio source) crashed the game in combat. One of the devs found the issue in the new fmods they were using, but low and behold, a year later, it still crashes the game. They know the issue, and they haven't fixed it a year later...
Lately, I've been having a hell of a time loading into DS9. I know I'm not the only one, but it seems that the load time there, (and kind of, but not entirely mostly there) can easily take 2-4 minutes. I was kind of hoping it was due to them revamping the model for the station, as it seems esd did a similar thing, but low and behold, two days BEFORE the christmas event this year, and now the game is crashing even just trying to load in, making the game LITERALLY unplayable.
If they can't get this fixed, this game would easily be the one dropped rather than the new patch to amd. I'm tired of Cryptic breaking things and never fixing them. Just look at the mess Champions is. Hopefully they fix it BEFORE the winter event, but it seems a bit ridiculous that some issues are still in game a year later, if not longer for some major issues.
As far as i'm concerned, this is up to Cryptic to fix, since they're the ones usually not optimizing, or just plain breaking things. AMD can take as long as they need though, if it's something on their end, simply because I know they at least seem to care about the players and fans enough to actually do something about fixing things.
The new update didn't fix it for me. I've tried "repair arc" and "force verify" on the load screen but that didn't work either. It's working on some of my other games though so it's more than likely arc. Is there a way we can like....go on strike...or picket or something?
If you force the game into dx9 mode it works with the new drivers. Not perfect, but a workaround.
Also, as I've been told, running the game windowed from the launcher and resetting the graphic settings (safe mode) every time when going in works as well, at least for some.
I haven't yet updated though, and am waiting to see a fix. If I have had upgraded back then, I'd have rolled back now.
go back to catalyst 15,7,1. this will solve the problem. it did for me.
How is this done? Download the version you named, then uninstall Crimson, and then install the old one? This is my first foray into AMD/Radeon, and my first issue, so not sure how to proceed without borking my system.

Sort of. First you need to know what operating system your PC uses and which video card you have.
On your desktop, right click your Computer System Icon and click on Properties. Under the header "Windows System" it should say something like Windows 7. Under "System", look for System Type. It should say something like 64-bit.
Now we need to find out what video card you have. Look on the left column and you should see a link "Device Manager". Click on it and a new window should appear. Look for "Display Adapters" and click on the arrow to the left. It should show which model video card you have.
Go to this website http://support.amd.com/en-us/download and go to the "Manually select your drivers." Click on the options to match what you found out earlier. It should then bring you to a page with the newest Crimson drivers. Look on the right side for "Download Previous Drivers & Software." Click on 15.7.1 to download.
When you uninstall your drivers, your computer screen will change. Don't worry about it. Once the new-old drivers are installed, it will go back to normal. And don't forget to restart your PC after uninstalling the Crimson drivers.
I'va had several tries ad i can report that the client crashes when i raise AA and bloom (DirectX9ex; 11 withstands even less), maybe it's poor memory management?

Yep, this happened to me as well.
"The update includes a number of bug fixes that AMD managed to correct already in the first week. "
