After 11 pages of this thread I still don't get it... Why it should have 4/4 layout? It has 2 hangar bays, so then it would make all cruisers obsolite. Why it should have ltcmd tac? It has potentially 2 lt tac and tac is not even it's main thing. Why it should have 4 tac consoles? Again it has 2 hangars and cmd sci.
It seems like everything that doesn't have at least 4 tac consoles and ltcmd tac is TRIBBLE. If you don't feel like you are able to make decent runs with ship without these features, just don't buy it. You can buy pilot escorts or Avenger to vaporize everything with one button or command cruiser to do almost the same but without thinking about survivality. But beside you, there are still plp who want from STO more than hit spacebar for instant win. They will have fun with this ship. Even if it's not OP.
On the other hand: 2/2 and 3 hangar bays? It would be cool, but I suspect that it is limited by game engine or other tech thing and just can't be done for now.
are we going to get kdf or romulan carreir too . i personaly kinda tired of seeing fed ships. in teh end they all flying saucers with pylons and candy dishes attached.
not yet but trendy has said she is working on a similar thing to do Romulan and KDF carriers.
null If they just released it a don't think any one would be complaining so much. And for all those wanting a kdf or romulan how do you know they aren't already working on that next phase. But after this more likely you'll be given ship with none of your own in put cos everybody is wanting something different trendy posted pages ago they WA working on it give them chance it's taken nearly two month and you've still got the winter event coming yet
I like so am gonna get. The set up gives me a chance to try out new builds
We've been graciously given a double allowance of salty community manager
It's okay, because they post stupid gifs, completely ignore what players have been telling them for months, and then act surprised when the shitstorm finally hits.

The stats are fine for a carrier. Making it as or more science than a science vessel, more cruiser than a cruiser, more battle cruiser than a battle cruiser or even more dreadnought than a dreadnought, makes it mainly less of a carrier. If you don't like the carrier lifestyle, that's fine, but don't expect the Jupiter to be some kind of T6 Scimitar with 2 attack wings of frigates on top like an especially martial cherry.
Well I think the new FED carrier has the right blend of overall statistics and was thought out by the development team. People who complain their is not enough Hull / Durability need to factor in that starship mastery traits further increases Hull & Shield HP in additon to Shield Regeneration for both the C-Store & Fleet Variants. Shield Hitpoints are already greatly modified above base at 1.25 or 1.37 right out of the gate.
The specifications Trendy listed above are then only expanded in traits of the vwessel:
•Starship Ability Package (Science Carrier) ◦Quick Deployment (+Pet XP, -Hangar Pet Recharge Time)
◦Armored Hull (+Max Hull HP)
◦Reactive Shield Technology (+Shield Regen/Hardness)
◦Advanced Shield Systems (+Max Shield HP)
◦Not to mention the Starship Trait?
Those who wanted to see more than 4 SCI console's are forgetting this is already an extremely resilient ship--given recent missions greatly expanded universal console with multiple buff's. I'd almost classify this ship as slightly Over Powered but it is Starfleet's largest Starship or Carrier.
What I would like to see next is a render for a T6 Romulan Scimitar & T6 Klingon Vo'Quv which are also best know as a Carriers to reflect similar configuration with unique strenths / weakness specific to each faction. Hopefully we'll see future hints in the coming week(s) about Klingon & Romulan SCI Carrier variants.
The Omega wouldn't have been my first choice to have selected, but in the end represents a very fine Federation ship.
This does fall under the pile of Ugly ship and complete rush job with with no thought on the subject of carriers today with an aspect of the RL ones.
Long and Bulky not short and stubby , you have what just redone the Prometheus skin to save time.
As it reads our first carrier! Then give us a ship that deserves that title and actually looks like one.
You already have a few ships in game that looks more like a battleship/carrier already why did you not just re skin that or expand on and make a new federation capital ship of course I refer to the Odyssey that when it first joined the game You knew the person that designed her had seen that modded bridge commander Excalibur.
You were all on the right path with those command ships again could have bulked one of those up.

Cdr Science and 4 science slots. it's just a big science ship. Very disappointed now. I didn't really expect it to be a tactical ship, but I hoped it would at least be an engineering ship.

Check the Vo'quv. The original mac daddy carrier. It's sci-focused. We're essentially getting a tier 6 Vo'quv. I for one will get it either way.
6 Weapons? So it's just a science ship, not a Carrier or a Dreadnought. So JHDC is still a better ship. A 4/3 setup would of been an improvement, at least a 4/2 I'd accept. And who thought Intel was a good BOFF station setup? Really, Flank and Stealth skill tree? This is totally a Command vessel. Clearly it's a Science heavy, but the fleet version is given an extra... Engineering console slot? Seriously you guys were just betting on who could make the most messed up hodgepodge setup as possible, yes? It's not a Dreadnought, but a Carrier, so why does it only have 2 hanger bays? Give it 3 bays since it lacks any tactical hope of DPS, because we all know the Hanger Pet AI is some of the worst in the game, and the doggy "controls" are worst yet. The whole Pet AI needs a revamp, I still loose pets because they are "too far" but then reappear as they return, or they just ignore the command to redock for repairs and blow up losing their veterancy; and the bug still exists where you're still in a mission but warp to different points and lose all your pets (Story mission, Gorn Minefield "Daily", in quotes because it shows up maybe once a week). Carriers really need more control over their wings, like have this hanger pet defend me or my ally, and this hanger wing attack my target, when X veterancy have an option to auto return to carrier for heals or docking, they absolutely need to carry over from point to point, and would be nice if they actually just kept their veterancy after missions and PVEs (as long as you docked them before leaving the mission / PVE), so they would have some sense of value. To much needs to change to make a carrier class worth playing, especially when it's just a sci ship with 2 hanger bays.
A carrier with only 2 hangers... please, how lame is that. Please dont let this slip through your fingers, having come back to STO since Delta dropped, dont send me packing again. ;)
One more thing i would like to add ... this new ship is hideous (imo) ... i am not a Star Trek nostalgic or fanboy, i like Science Fiction movies and games. Most of the movies ships looked good, they had ...poetry in them ... I currently use the fleet Eclipse as its the best ship from fed side for me regarding dps but even after 1 year i still think its ugly ... the 60-77k dps i get in pugs help me to keep using it but i really would like to use some other skins ( i have Delta pack yeah).
No offense to the designers but i think they should think to make some changes to their basic designs ... on my romulan i use the Tac command ship and it looks gorgeous, had not yet bought the sci version to improve that even more. I have so much fun and feel so bad TRIBBLE using that ship i don't miss the scimi at all.
As i see not only the stats/seating's are limited but the great design looks are also ... I would pay 1500zen/skin to be able to use parts from other ships ...
Note: i know that this ship looks ware decided by the players, but you cant really take the best decision unless you have good designs too work with and you are able to preview the finished look.
My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.
I tried to live up to my sig but wow. The STO playerbase makes this game harder than anything Cryptic can do.
Lols, i said what i think ... i haven't killed your grandfather. If saying that this game maybe need more customization options regarding ship skins gave you cancer then maybe you should use that money you gain from not smoking and see someone that can help you.
When they (cryptic) do something good i cheer them, wanting a bit more variety from the game i spend 5+ hours does not mean i think everything they do its bad.
My advice for my kinds its not about smoking but about trying to actually respect others and not vent their frustration on random people, i mean actually not claims ...
Great, another (2?) Fed-ship
Thats 152 Fed-Ships vs 102 KDF vs 69 Rom Ships (Only the faction-Ships, without the crossfaction ships)
Numbers taken from the Wiki
From the 5 year Infographic: Player/Character population
For the record ... I'm seeing a LOT more KDF and ROM ships these past few months than a year ago.
On the ship ... I've been thinking about it overnight and have to be honest.
As a sci ship ... It's gonna be weak. Reason I say that is its hamstringed by lacking the SA and the secondary deflector.
Don't get me wrong. I understand they did that because it has those flight bays, but still ... Because of it being sci heavy without those ... I'd turn to an existing sci ship first of which there are a few options.
My kitten will stay in the Pathfinder and my other Fed sci the Wells.

I don't really know. But if that is happening maybe the bundle-pack strategy helps - people buy bundles because "3 for the price of 1" deal, and then they have to actually fly those s hips to justify it, otherwise they actually bought one for the price of 2.
But personal observation is very unreliable to determine this.
But if Cryptic observes such a thing happening, I guess it's time to make more ships like the Intel ships. A 3/9-pack that contains a Science Vessel, a Cruiser and an Escort for each faction That way, t hey cover both the factions and the ship classes better.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
This also increases the potential to purchase more diverse bundles of ships... you could get a vanilla pack (Tac/Eng/Sci), a Tac pack (Tac & Tac specialist bundle), Eng pack (Eng & Eng Specialist bundle), Sci Pack (Sci & Sci specialist bundle), Specialist bundle (all the ship variants that only have specialists). Then you'd have the relevant Faction bundle.
That's a 12 ship purchase scenario.
They could come at you from every angle and offer different combinations of perks for buying the packs in different ways. Then imagine that they decided to release a cross faction ship type like they did with the Dyson ships. They could do something scary like they did with the Dyson Science Destroyers and make certain perks only be attainable if you bought every single one.
That's a 36 ship purchase scenario.
Yeah I know I'm making it sound ridiculously scary but... what if? I'm just saying that the capability and set-up are there even if the willingness is not.
So... again, happy to see this ship come out. I came into the game only shortly before the Jupiter started to disappear, but I can appreciate the fact that the Jupiter is now a T6 playable ship. That's awesome for everyone who wanted it
I play sci on the Fed-side, so this is right up my alley. I doubt it'll unseat the Vesta as my primary ship, but the more I look at it the more I think the Juptier could find its way into my fleet. I commented on the design-release thread that the Juptier could make a cool science ship considering those dome-like structures towards the rear of the hull. So in that way, it's nice to see the form and the function being united.
Also the new hanger pets look great! I'd fly that as a playable ship even. The design seems to echo the Oddy's pet somewhat, so I hope it gets the Aquarius treatment as a light escort.
Yes I am going to scream...OFFER A THREE PACK, ENGINEERING, TACTICAL, SCIENCE VERSION PRETTY PLEASE! I will not be buying a science based version. I am an engineer.
These would also be fleet ready out of the box.
I second this request.
Thirded (they could use the same model, just like Odyssey does) ;-)
This is pretty much a vo'quv with more bells and whistles. The irony still comes back to an infamous dev who said carriers are unique to the KDF so the federation will never have a carrier lol. So this one is making the one ship that was "unique" at one time just another thing to take to the back seat lol. Good job cryptic rofl. If anything though what will happen is that they will give us a copy and paste so I'm not holding my breath on that one lol.
i WISH that this Ship was Similar to the Voquv (T6 upgraded) but NOPE, Voquv has a LtCom Tac AND 4 Tac Consoles (Fleet T5U)
so if at all, than its like a Voquv with its teeth kicked in. Like i said before, this is nothing but a Reskinned Atrox V1.5 with frigattes Enabled, so another Science Heavy Carrier when there is allready one, sorry but i dont buy this NOT even for a DOLLAR
Except the Vo'quv only has 3 Consoles...and while it isn't a Lt Cmdr you can have 2 Tac Lts...then don't buy it. Not every ship in the game needs to be nothing but Tac stuffed...
People are so damn entitled...so spoiled...so rude...this game seriously has the most toxic community I have ever seen.
My Mistake, yes the Voquv only has 3 Tac Consoles (Fleet T5U). Other than that, the "dont buy it than" answer is so common and so lame....with a little bit more Flexibility in the Boff Layout it could appeal to more or most People, like changing the LtComEng/Intel to a LtComUni/Intel, or upgrading the LtTac to a LtComTac while downgrading either the LtSci or the LtUni PLUS one more Weapon on the Front, but people like you will scream, ohh nooooes, we want that ship only to appeal to us, it should work for us and no one else, let it be a niche ship!"...........
Iam not entitled, not spoiled and certainly not rude, at least the rude part fits you better, seeing how you attack me, and people like me here who wish something that they also could use, "saying no NO No" also makes you and the likes of you nothing but Sellfish.
Yes I am going to scream...OFFER A THREE PACK, ENGINEERING, TACTICAL, SCIENCE VERSION PRETTY PLEASE! I will not be buying a science based version. I am an engineer.
now THIS is the best Idea of all, worked Fine all the other 3 Pack Ships too, like Pilot and Command Ships, let People decide what they want to Focus on, give them OPTIONS not Restrictions! It can still have its ComSci, BUT the LtCom should be the Flexible seat!
If i want to fly it more Tac Heavy than LET ME
If i want to fly it more Eng Heavy than LET ME
If i want to fly it even more Sci Heavy like all the People here who are defending it, well than LET ME and THEM
and one more Weapon on the Front for that little bit more of Firepower.
I said it so often in other Threads for other ships too and i will say it again, WHY make a portion of the Playerbase happy, while giving the others the Big Middlefinger?
3 Pack with TAC/ENG/SCI Focused Ships = MOST People are Happy and MORE Dollars /EUROS whatever for the Game Company = EVERYONE Wins, a 5 Years old Kid can see that, but you cant?
...

Not every ship needs to appeal to every player. The 'don't buy it' answer is perfectly valid. There are a lot of ship options, and I like the fact that some are very clearly not my playstyle while others very much are. And then I can also factor in looks - those in my playstyle that I like the design of, and those I'll take a pass on.

You know what would sell even more? A 6/6 Commander Command/Intel Universal! It'd also break the game, but who cares? Think of the appeal!

3 Pack Ships like Command and Pilot Ships are the Prime example that every ship CAN appeal to most People, IF they are willing to follow that Philosophy on following ships like this Carrier too! And there are a lot of Options? ehm no there are not? This is a FIRST of its Kind on the Fed Side, the First Starfleet Design Full Carrier (Atrox is Alligned not True Fed) so there would be Options IF they would make it a Three Pack with Tac/Eng/Sci Focused Version.
Now when it comes to the Design, YES thats the Part where People can choose whether they like it or dont like it, maybe not care to much and still get it, the looks is only the Gift Wrap, the Content of that Wrap should offer something for everyone, not just some People, therefore yea 3 Pack IS the Best Idea, you like its Original Layout? HELL what makes you stop from Flying the Science Version than? What would be your Problem of others having the Option to have a Eng or Tac Version?
Stop always saying ME ME ME, it is a really nice looking new Ship with much Potential, everyone should be allowed to have some fun with it, restricting it to some while leaving others out is just Silly and bad Business.

People asking for a more Flexible Layout that appeals to more is natural and reasonable, what you on the other hand say is just trolling, like a 3 Pack with eng/tac/sci would not break the game (did the command and pilot packs break the game??? i dont think so)
So if youre only answers are trolling around, please save your and our time, thx.

Other than the people asking for Command instead of Intel, so far I've only seen requests to make the ship a Battle Cruiser or Tac-heavy Cruiser with two hangars bays with frigates on top.
Hell yeah that would appeal. It'd also make any other T6 cruiser obsolete.
