Just had a thought. We need Captain Proton stuff. Sure, it's fictional in Star Trek. But that wouldn't stop enthusiast from making working replicas. We already have a jetpack mechanic in the Risan floaters. The gun might be a modded phaser. Or even a joke weapon. The costume would be fun (those goggles!) Add a couple of cheesy props for foundry and you're golden.
...Maybe a ship pet, too?

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
While I was never a huge fan of the Captain Proton episodes (or really anything using the holodeck) I have to admit, that's a pretty creative idea and might be a lot of fun.

In fantasy land, it would be cool to have a holodeck door on most social zones that link to mini-missions or special social zones. So you go to the holodeck controls and select a Proton mini mission, a Bashir/Bond mini-mission, Vic's social zone, a Moriarty mini-mission, Fairhaven social zone and so on. It would add some awesome diversity to the game and only needs to be like a one map level.

That's a very narrow definition. I think you'll find the term monochrome not only covers grayscale but is more commonly used to refer to grayscale than anything else. Indeed, the term can include an image in any color scale, so long as it is limited to that one colour though that is less common of course. Some confusion can be caused by the term's application across different artistic and scientific mediums. As the topic of this conversation stems from early films it is quite applicable as it is a common term used in that field. Feel free to research before randomly calling people out on things like that.
Didn't mean to be rude, I was just pointing out that a completely black and white interface might look weird and wasn't aware of the definition you were using.

You could also tie it into the Voyager episodes with the Hirogen, like where they take over Voyager or when the Hirogen need help hunting the Photonics they created episide titled "Flesh and Blood"
I hadn't realized this had come up before. But I'm also not surprised in the slightest.
Anyways, when I imagined using Proton's ship as a pet, I was thinking that it could be held up by visible wires that sorta fade into the distance. Which could potentialy be hilarious if used with the jetpack. Just imagine looking up to see that. The sparks are clearly not actually propelling the person, but those wires aren't connected to anything either.
Maybe even make these missions only accessible through your ships holodecks. That'll give more use to ship interiors too. You can queue up as a team in one ship's holodeck or you can PUG on your own in your ship's holodeck and pretend other players are just holo characters.

I'd enjoy playing that for a mission or two.
Then, Forum Overlord Tacofangs appeared and explained why such a thing would be difficult for Cryptic to pull off. If the old forums were still up, I could provide a link. The explanation pretty much boiled down to too much work for too little return on investment.
Which means we have as much chance of getting one of these as we do of getting a T6 Connie. Or a true Science vessel for the KDF. Or a complete Romulan faction which is not a client state of the other two factions.
What a shame it is a company in the business of selling games cannot also sell fun and entertainment at the same time.
But as mentioned, Tacofangs let us know that the "black and white TV" look would be very difficult to pull off and there's no good reason for them to develop the tech that could make it happen. It would be a very expensive "one-off" use of resources. It's also pretty specific to Tom Paris' obsession with 20th century pop culture.
Never say never, but doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon. That said, if people keep throwing money at them it's more likely that they'll eventually get around to projects that are more outside the box.
Though an episode would be nice.
Path 1: A holodeck adventure with the Captain as Captain Proton, and a crewmate (boff) as your sidekick. Rewards a Bridge officer of the 50s style robot holo as an engineering boff...
Path 2: a 50s mobster mystery, with the captain playing the role of a noir detective, with a boff as his sidekick. Rewards a Johnny Hammer, a holographic mobster tactical officer.
Path 3: A Sherlock Holmes murder Mystery with the Captain as Holmes and a BOFF as Watson. Rewards Moriarty as a Science Bridge officer.
Play through it 3 times for 3 Holo Officers!!!
