Thank you for the giveaway, Cryptic.

Won't be watching the show if it's behind a pay wall, but I wish them luck and hope maybe it will make it to reruns on normal tv/cable.

I had to buy ship slots to claim it on some toons. Nice to have more uniform options too. Win all around. I hope Cryptic/PWE fixes the Mac issues and gives those users a chance to pick this up as well. Also, a giveaway tailored to KDF/KDF-alinged Roms would have been nice as well to include them in this nice giveaway.

And in case anyone missed the post about it, the grappler console can be used on any ship.
Now a LTS and loving it.

So I unlocked all the bits and pieces of this bundle cept the T'Pol outfit awhile ago. I went to claim the bundle but, for reasons I still don't understand, I couldn't because I owed those pieces. So am I just out of luck on T'Pol's uniform?

This is the same issue with the Intrepid bundle, owned all the bits and bobs so I couldn't get the Voyager bridge. You guys should really fix that. I would gladly still pay the full bundle price even if I owned a piece or two of it already.

Very nice of you to give this away. Now then. . .

You have less than 24 hours to get my Mac launcher working so I can actually log in and claim it. So snap to it and get it done!

I already own this pack but I'm happy for those who wanted it but didn't have it yet! Thanks for the freebie Cryptic! :)
Unless CBS/Paramount came to some mutual agreement on the issue (remember that CBS DID tailor STO's initial storyline to INCLUDE elements of the STo9 film and Zachary Quinto (the new 'Mr. Spock') did initial VO for the game tutorial alongside Leonard Nimoy (who's VO also tied into the STo9 film's storyline.)

Yes, they are separate entities (CBS and Paramount) BUT they BOTH want to support and grow (and profit from) the Star Trek franchise' so it would be counter-productive for them to work against each other in promoting different versions and splitting the Star Trek fanbase (and yes, I know such a split will occur on it's own eventually, it's the nature of Star fandon dating all the way back to when the animated series was released in 1973); but I don't think Paramount and CBS would want to work against each other.

    But again, time will tell

I've suggested something similar in other threads only to get badgered over it. While I doubt the new show will take place in the JJ-verse (and hope that it doesn't), the idea that it would does make sense on many levels. A lot of studios are taking note of the success Disney is enjoying with Marvel and created a shared universe across television and feature films. Sony is partnering with Disney/Marvel for the next Spider-Man films. From a production standpoint, it would be economically beneficial to have sets/wardrobes/cgi models etc. that can be shared between the two.

Yes it would make sense that Paramount and CBS would sit down and figure something out that would be mutually beneficial. However if the two companies were interested in working together on Star Trek we would have had reboot stuff in this game a long time ago.
If you look at the press release it's all CBS. If they reached some sort of agreement then it would have been a joint press release just like what Marvel/Sony did.

Maybe, maybe not. It's possible that any deals between the two prior to the new series wouldn't be grandfathered in. No one knows for certain yet.

That's not how it works. If this was going to be a Paramount/CBS venture the press release would have stated so.

I was surprised about the news about the new series, a shame about the "CBS All Access" thing though... :/

Even more surprising is the free givaway of the Enterprise bundle! I actually considered buying it some time ago but decided against it, now I have it for free! Awesome stuff!

This is a most generous gesture from Cryptic to celebrate the news of a new series, many thanks Cryptic! :D

And when there is more of an official announcement with more specific details, I'll believe you.

    http://www.startrek.com/article/new-star-trek-series-premieres-january-2017

It's all in the official press release.

"The new series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout. Kurtzman and Heather Kadin will serve as executive producers. Kurtzman is also an executive producer for the hit CBS television series Scorpion and Limitless, along with Kadin and Orci, and for Hawaii Five-0 with Orci."

For some reason even though i've never owned any of this bundle i've claimed it and discharged the ship after getting the card for admiralty. Now I cannot reclaim the NX class as it still wants to charge me 500z. And I cannot reclaim the bundle either as it says it is already in my inventory.

So what's going no here then?

The mac fix is on tribble already so it will go live on the holodeck next Thursday. Mac users have another 4 days to claim to enterprise pack.

Never mind. Misread some data in blog.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Yes, I know. I did read it. I'll wait for more information, thanks. Feel free to disagree.

I don't know your background so if this seems like I am talking down to you I apologize. Not my intent.
My background is in TV production. While this blurb means nothing to the average person what this really means is Kurtzman pitched an idea to CBS Television Studios. CBS Television studios loved it. The wrote a check to Kurtzman and said make it. The idea is already formed. The money already paid. Everything has already been set up. For Paramount to come in after that is unheard of and has about the same chances of TOS season 4 with the original cast being made.

Would it make sense for the two to combine forces on a series...probably but making sense is not what Hollywood does best. I know you'll wait for more information but I am telling you from my expert opinion that I am 99% sure this will be set in the prime universe.

    Or a THIRD alternate continuity...

Though Prime Universe is the most likely I just thought I'd throw that monkey wrench into the proceedings.

I would hate to get Star Trek: Mirror, though. Even dealing with it on STO pushes the limits of my tolerance for the MU. I feel about that the way some others feel about the Temporal Cold War. (Me, while the TCW was unresolved and not as well executed as it should have been, it is not a horrible concept on the face of it and there WERE hints of it in TNG and VOY.)

Yes they could do a third alternate continuity

OK, it's nice and I'm looking forward to it, but...

Hopefully it's not JJ-Universe und hopefully it is not interacting with the STO Time Line until now and
    the Iconian Story Line.

Honestly I was happy when "Star Trek: Enterprise" was published but a bit afraid of the "prequel" approach.
And at the end it was a disaster and has been cancelled after season 4.

I'm afraid something simillar will happen this time. A new story line interacting with the existing canon in a way which is not "logical" .

So I hope the new show will add new content to Star Trek without making damage to the existing canon (Prime universe and JJ-Univers) or to things like STO.

I expect that CBS and Pramount know about the potential cash cow they have. And I hope they will not risk making confusion to the canon and the franchise!
And you know what is written at the bottom of your STO Game Launcher: >>"™ & © 2015 CBS Studios Inc."<<

I noticed that too, but the entire pack is reclaimable (after discharging the NX ship).

I dumped my new Excelsior for this, thankfully I didn't get around to equipping it- I'm still using the Breen carrier.

This is a good time to ask if anyone else is experiencing the same bug as I have been since I got the pack a long time ago:

Once you claim the pack, and dismiss the NX, can you claim the NX class again via the Ship Requisition NPC? For me, when I go to ship requisitions, it says the NX class still costs 500 Zen; the only way for me to reclaim it is to go to the C-Store and reclaim the Enterprise Pack (which thankfully you can do as many times as you want).

If that's a bug everyone will experience, now would be a great time to fix it.

Yep. And I posted a bug about it back in December 2012 http://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1093978/c-store-item-purchase-but-not-purchased

The NX-01 Replica Light Escort by itself in the Ships tab of the c-store, as well as a ship requisitions NPC, is showing a price of 500 zen even though you own the Enterprise Era Bundle. You have to go to 'Discount Packs' in the c-store, click on the bundle, then click the 'Claim' button on the bottom right of the window in order to get the ship free of charge.
  • lopequillopequil Member Posts: 1,226 Arc User
I didn't have the pack before and claimed it in c-store, but in ship requisitions it says 500 zen and that I cannot buy the item because it is already in my inventory.

C store is weird that way, sometimes bought/claimed ships go straight to your shiplist and sometimes they're given in boxed form, so you need to double-click them in your inventory, the box is unpacked and the ship goes to your list.

I'd be fine with the series being set in either universe. The prime verse has obvious sentimental value, but the JJverse is much less developed and thus has more room for unique stories not burdened by established canon. As long as the characters and the story are good, I'm happy.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."
