Any way for us Mac users to claim this?
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."
-Thomas Marrone
Awesome!
Still nice going I guess.

Looks like Mac users are going to miss out again
I hope if the series is set in the post-Picard era, there are more than a few nods to the great job that you guys have been doing with the franchise lately, in the absence of a show. Some of the stuff that's been in STO absolutely needs to be referenced into on-screen canon.
The person in charge is the one who produced the JJ-verse movies and co-wrote Into Darkness - it's likely going to be set there, rather than in Prime.
It could be a TV 'reboot' of the classic TOS era or some tie in to the film series (which if you read the Hollywood Reporter article I linked above) in which it was stated there will be a fourth 'Star Trek' feature film in 2019 (the third set to open in 2016 for the 50th anniversary year of Star Trek - 2016.)
So, if that's the case, it may not affect what has been called the 'Prime Universe' of Star Trek at all - meaning the game will continue (and add) content as it and CBS see fit. If they somehow do make a show in the 'Prime Universe' post-Nemesis era, it could spell some interesting issues for this game going forward in that STO will no longer be the only 'Prime Universe' continuation taking off from where ST:Nemesis and the ST09 feature film left off.
It will be interesting, but if anything this will probably spur CBS to engage in cross promotion of the game and the new series; but as always, time will tell.

New series, meaning a new source for game material, with possibly new species, ships storylines and characters. This is awesome news, and I can't wait to see what it will bring, both to the game and to the fans in general.
Whatever the content of this new series may be, I think it will be great to have a series running on TV alongside the game.
... They can't set a CBS owned Star Trek TV series in a Paramount-owned JJ-Universe. It's going to be Prime Universe for sure.
it's being produced by CBS...CBS can't touch the reboot universe
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.
Exactly what I just said.
It should be in promotions somewhere in-game. Look for the Enterprise Pack. It should be claimable.
it should be repeated often

C-Store, Discount Packs tab.
Well I already have the bundle, so... no help there.
If the Hollywood Reporter article is accurate, outside of the Pilot, this new show is gonna be on CBS' VoD service. No thank you.
Thank you for the time...
Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
So we can't reclaim the ship normally... lucky me after i discharged it, the whole pack become avilable once more...
Still - this looks like little bug for me...
Most unexpectedly, this turned into a flame-fest! Closed it goes!. /sigh What flamefestery is this? pwlaughingtrendy
Unless CBS/Paramount came to some mutual agreement on the issue (remember that CBS DID tailor STO's initial storyline to INCLUDE elements of the STo9 film and Zachary Quinto (the new 'Mr. Spock') did initial VO for the game tutorial alongside Leonard Nimoy (who's VO also tied into the STo9 film's storyline.)
Yes, they are separate entities (CBS and Paramount) BUT they BOTH want to support and grow (and profit from) the Star Trek franchise' so it would be counter-productive for them to work against each other in promoting different versions and splitting the Star Trek fanbase (and yes, I know such a split will occur on it's own eventually, it's the nature of Star fandon dating all the way back to when the animated series was released in 1973); but I don't think Paramount and CBS would want to work against each other.
But again, time will tell

Hmmm...I'm of two minds on the idea of it being Internet-only. On one hand it limits the exposure and marketing that the series will get, by paywalling it. On the other hand, I do wonder if it might allow them to take greater storytelling risks than they would otherwise (kinda like we see with Netflix series)...I especially think if they plan to go in the DS9 vein that could give them the liberty to do so. I only hope they don't go fully into "Crapsack World" like nuBsG. If they strike the same balance between optimism and realism that DS9 pulled off, I'll be good with that.
What I would ideally love to see if this DOES stay Internet only is for them to strike a deal with Amazon Prime, since I'm already carrying a Prime subscription partly to view the other episodes. (I know, I could buy the DVD's but except for DS9 I calculated the ratio of episodes liked vs. those not liked and realized I'd get a better deal with Amazon Prime when you add in all of the other Prime benefits.)
As far as the bundle, well, I never turn down free stuff, even though I doubt I'll use much of it. But hey, the ship, being a starter ship, will probably be useful for my Fed-Reman as well as my true Feds, in Admiralty, even if just as a tool to quickly dispose of assignments I don't feel like using a Pass token on or tying up my better ships with.
Now one thing I am not clear on from the article about the series: is this going to be set in the reboot continuity, the prime universe, or even the STO prime universe? The Orci-Kurtzman involvement makes me think JJverse, but if there was an outright statement that it would be JJverse, I missed it.
