it's a consumable item? All that excitement quickly turned to disappointment. I can never use that item now, it's going to be sitting there for the rest of eternity....or until I purchase that ship.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I think it's great if you want to test ships be fore you buy it.
Well, if you get what you want...
This is the ship card for admiralty system, you can't test anything.
It could test his patience.

There's no harm in using it...just use it on an assignment where you REALLY need it badly. It's not like you'll never get other consumable ships.

use the card or don't the choice is yours only bare in mind, if you ever do get this ship you may loose the 1xcard if it is superseded by the card that comes from owning the ship.
this is assuming that the other poster who stated "Every ship card they give away would potentially be a missed ship purchase" is correct.
only guessing.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Well yeah, those are like trial versions to get you to actually buy them.
Every ship card they give away would potentially be a missed ship purchase.
Or they could like someone said, put in ship cards to ships we never get like the Jupiter or Typhoon.

The x1 cards are definitely seperate from regular ship cards, and I suspect you can even have multiple x1 cards of the same ship (though that's probably not happen often, unless you start hoarding.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

According to some people you'll then have both crads. X times the consumeable version and 1 time your standard card from the ship itself. So even if you buy all ships you're not loosing out on those potential bonus cards.
Can't confirm it myself but some LTS player said that he/she got a T6 vet destroyer card additionally to the regular one.

thanks, that's good to know.

Oh you can have multiple "Cards"! I've the chimera T6 and got a chimera T6 card. Now I can put 2 of this in one mission. Not to mention the posibility to get lock box ships no longer available. Some Missions add +100 to eng for example. If you don't have a Lockbox Ship that ignores +x from mission this cards come in handy. Some missions require well over 200 in these cases.
I hope they add Gateway support to this.
And they can add ship cards as reward to missions etc.
Also this System might be able to add ship cards without owning the ship as persistant one, so they could add a shipcard to lockbox rewards (or at least as account rewards if you own a lockbox ship?)...
I would be nice to get some 'gold foil' cards that are permanent, maybe as a super rare crit reward, or some future mission reward.
Perhaps also a way to sneak in some ships that would otherwise never make it into the game? Thinking Yeager class, Soyuz, Freedom, etc. I'm still holding out hope on an actual New Orleans class though.
Sadly though, its the closest I'll ever get to owning one. (Even though I consider it the most hideous ship in game, it is a monster of a sci ship).
I got an insectoid ship, pretty cool even for a consumable
Yeah it's kind of a nice surprise to receive these consumable ships. I'm pretty happy with this admiralty system. Looking forward to this weekend so I can reclaim a bunch of ships on my alts.

Vestereng is always guessing.
Also Serious Dave is right. You can get 1x ship cards for ships you have permanent cards for... and multiples. At one point I actually had THREE of the T6 vet ship on tribble.

Incorrect assumption. The "(1x)" ship cards are a "consumable" Crit REWARD, and only a reward. Not a teaser for buying a ship. The "(?x) only indicates how many times you can use that "consumable reward" ship".
When testing on Tribble, I had several "reward" (1x) and a couple of (2x) consumable ship cards. They really helped my KDF toons getting some of the ridiculous SCI points needed..
As far a "Testing" a new ship. Forget it.. Admiralty is a Doff type mission. The ships are NOT playable, players can't use them, that are just a pretty "play-card" for the Admiralty System.
The only "money-grab', IMHO, is going back and getting the lower tier ships and Fleet Variants you didn't buy anyway. But that's the player choice. If you've been playing for a few years, you probably already have enough ships in inventory and/or reclaim lower tier ships to bolster your Admiralty inventory.
Again, IMHO, it's only a ploy/tease if the player feels they have to have them all; not a cash-cow for Cryptic/PWE..
Personally. I'm not doing any changes, reclaims, etc, until the "DryDock" System is live. Then I can re-evaluate, put some ships in DryDock, open up some ship inventory slots, and reclaim what I needed. No "money-grab" there since I should be able to do it all at no cost..
nah it is a good thing , think about it like a bonus mission , i had all ships in maintenance today so i used for a UR asignment 3 of those bonus cards , and that asignment gave me 2 more cards , so i did another two small asignments ^^ i actually like this sysstem more than doffing
What annoys me is the fact I can't sell them... I have little or no need for them (unless they are sci ships...bloody rom/kdf sci imbalance), already have six of them and they'll likely be there forever or until I need a pinch hitter

Yes and? What strange in that?
I guess some people didn't know this was possible. So yes, you can have consumable versions of ships you already own.
