Eh... maybe as a beam boat, but from what I heard the Bort is pretty lackluster in performance.
Personally I would recommend the T6 Negh'Tev or T6 Mat'ha. Both are pretty good IMO.

Enh... a lot of people hate it because it's a battlecruiser that turns like a heavy cruiser, but it can load heavy cannons soooo.....

    Your comparing a T5 to a T6 Intel ship.
Truth be told the Bortasqu was a damn good ship prior to Legacy of Romulus, in PvP and PvE. Unfortunately it became rather useless when they "buffed" EptE so that all ships can now literally run circles around it.
But back before then you could build a ship that killed anything it looked at.

These days the Qib is quite frankly the "best" KDF battle cruiser there is.
Its the one and only with a battle cloak, and can load Surgical Strikes and Override Subsystem safeties to very devastating effect.

There are some that like the Bortasqu'... but not many. If you're planning to use cannons on it, oh hell no. You'd have to put so many turn rate boosts to get it to line up cannons in anything but ISA and CCA. It's doable, sure, but it'll take Undine engines and at least two RCS or a Mk XIV Conductive RCS [Turn].

I'd go with a Kurak if you're wanting a Battlecruiser personally, and that is slower than your Qib and the Kurak can run rings around the Bortasqu' with the same gear. Kurak comes with an awesome trait on any ship that you're using Emergency Power to Weapons (which should be almost all of them). If you're wanting forward firepower with even more turn and 5 Tac consoles, look into the Mat'ha and Pilot Raptors.

I want a beam boat. I don't do much PVP. More PVE/STF stuff.

No sense in buying it now anyways considering that the T6 version is probably only a few months away at most.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

I'd still recommend the Kurak for a beam boat. Potential for dual Lt. Comm Tac and the ability to dip into Intel powers is very nice. The Bortasqu' is actually slow enough that, unbuffed, lining up for broadsides takes some effort if the target moves.

Also a good point, the Oddy T6 was hinted at in the last shipyard blog, which likely means a newer version of the Bort too.

The Negh'tev cruiser is my flagshhip. I enjoy it quite thoroughly.

Are you a lifetime subscriber? The T6 vet ship works well with beams or cannons.

The bort may be somewhat lackluster but it can still be a rather decent beamboat. Also it's command variant with 4 tac consoles + SA is a unique and very underestimated combo.

It's by no means better than all the latest releases but sure as hell not as bad as most people want to believe.
But the spot for the best kdf cruiser probably goes to the Qib. Cmdr. engi/intel + battlecloak is pretty hard to beat.

Yeah, looks that way. Still wondering how they'll do it. Single ship releases, single ship 3-faction pack, 9 ship mega pack, fed only, kdf & fed only? Who knows.....

I love the looks of the ship, but it's a slow-turning Tier 5 battle cruiser. Maybe a Tier 6 upgrade will make it more attractive.

The Ty'Gokor more or less replaced its function. If you want something slightly more offensive, the Kurak or Qib are the way to go.

LOL, you're going to forsake the OP Qib for the substandard Bortasqu'? :D

The Bortasqu' has an acidic history with the KDF playerbase. Some players like it. But most **HATE** that ship. I bought the 3 pack years ago and to this day I consider it the worst ship purchase I have ever made.

Do a search for "Bortasqu" in the KDF gameplay subforum. You should be able to come across more than enough very heated threads about upset players with the Bortasqu'.

If you still insist on buying it... Well, you've been warned.

The OP already is flying the Qib. He's about to drop it for a Bortasqu' :s

We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

The Bortasqu' was released in 2012. It was such a terrible ship and its sales were so bad that Cryptic used it as an excuse for not developing any new KDF C-Store ships. The KDF would not get any new C-Store ships... Or hell, any new ships until October 2014 with the Delta Rising Expansion and T6 ships for the KDF.

That is how bad the Bortasqu' is.

Well not entirely true, though I agree that how they treated the kdf was f**king bullsh*t. In between kdf got the Mogh which was the first (and only till delta) kdf ship with a 5/x layout. Though if I remember correctly that was several months after the fed's avenger release. :s

At least now the crabon copies arrive at the same time....yey.....progress..... :/

Didn't the devs say the sales on it were so bad it hadn't even turned a profit on the cost of making it? That's been a bit since they said that, wonder if its still true.

That actually might still hold up.
The bort sure didn't gain any appeal over the years and considering how small the kdf playerbase is and how much better all the lockbox, lobi and event ships were I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah. I like the looks of the StarCraft BattleCruiser, just it was horrible with the stats it was given. BOff layout was nice too. Turnrate of 5, lower shield mod than the Oddy, one or two Sci console slot about the time they made the Shield cap consoles stack(which dropped the amount of ShHP each gave) and the gimped cloak killed it though.

Skip the Bort. It's a barge unless you jam it full of things to up the tun rate. Matha is a good solid ship but unless you fly it right it's a glass cannon. The Pilot Raptors are a real viable option get the set and equip the ENg or Sci with the fullconsole set the thurster stuff is pretty sweet as you get pilot skills more or less with out having built that trait skill tree up. Problem with the Negat'v is what plagues far to many KDf ships not enough Tac consoles. I say this as they are labled "Battle Cruisers" and by definition a Battle Cruiser is a cruiser with Battleship weapons and with the limeted Tac Consoles that most KDf ships are hobbled with all they are are redressed Fed Ships with a Shield nerf and not really Battle cruisers. Thats my thoughts anyway.

The Bortasqu is a slow flying brick. Yes its well armed, but to me sadly its no fun to fly.
