A bit of a fun thread, your own taste on what ships that you think looks best and the one you think look like a trainwreck.
Mine are in the same category and that is Assault Cruiser line.
Best looking
Sovereign class - Always loved the look of this ship since I first saw it in First contact. That STO had it made the game more playable during the horrible launch.
Awful looking
This was a tough one, but after much consideration, I must place Imperial class of the Assault Cruiser line here, it is.. I don't know what it is, looks like something Mars made in a week of old starships, it has no fine lines, it is just.. a work of "art" perhaps?

Ugliest - I think there was one variant of the galaxy that had the most TRIBBLE looking combination of parts put together. maybe it's the monarch I can't remember.
romulan aehlah
awful looking (the choice is huge):
all the romulan pilot ships
There are many ugly ships, I hate Nausicaan and Breen ships (personal taste), but if we talk about "badly designed" ships, i'd say the romulan pilot ships are pretty unimpressive...
Ugliest. The new Carrier, whether it is Alpha or Omega, they are both ugly.
Fed Best: I think I'll go with the Guardian as well, taking the iconic elements of Fed ships and meshing them together smoothly. Caitian Atrox is nice as well, and I like the bare mid-saucer section of the Scryer, but it is not round enough, feels like too few polygons. Also, the Vesta variations are still sleek.
Fed Worst: The Oberth. In canon it didn't look half bad, but in STO it just feels off. Maybe because it aged worse? Not a big fan of the Dauntless either.
KDF Best: I really think the Dyson with a KDF skin is great, but not a real KDF ship. I am also partial to the Gorn (Varanus et al) and Nausicaan (Scourge) design styles, but let's stick Klink and I'll put the Negh'Var
KDF Worst: Almost all of the T6 cruisers qualify in my opinion. I'll say the An'quat
Rom Best: Aelahl for me as well, it narrowly edges out the D'deridex. Similar elements but so much sleeker. Of course the D'deri has the nicer face.
Rom Worst: Hands down the Scimitar for me as well. It looks somewhat nice when selecting your captain (yes, I have one) but in Game it's just meh.
Others Best: Not really in love with any I've seen so far. Some are too outlandish, so even if I do like them they don't get the same feeling (Sarr Theln, Benthan Assault Cruiser). I think I'll vote the Sheshar, but with the reservations that it won't make any top 5 list on any of the three main factions for me.
Others Worst: No contest, the Malon battleship. Bad enough in the series, it doesn't get better in the game.
Best Looking: Oddyssey, Multi-Mission line, Regent Class
Worst looking: Imperial Class, Saber Class, Constellation, Excelsior (i know sorry, but I can't stand the way it looks, the T6 one though is very nice looking)
I think they all looked ugly. Not a passable one in the whole lot.
I think the Arbiter Battlecruiser looks the worst. The saucer isn't perfectly round - it has points on the sides and looks weird. It also seems like someone took a huge rolling pin to the entire ship and rolled it as flat as a pancake. When you hear the word "Battlecruiser" you think BIG. But there's no depth to the ship...
As for worse design? Well it's a personal taste thing so I'd argue there is no 'bad' design in the game...but I hate the Galaxy. Always have, always will. The fat saucer just looks so stupid, like it flew too fast into a wall and got squashed.
Oh yes, forgot that one. Some cool designs there, also in the variations. Even if it makes no sense whatsoever.
Starfleet
Best: Odyssey
Worst: Olympic (it looks nothing like the canon model)
KDF
Best: Vor'Kang / Dyson Destroyers / Qu'Daj (all in the Type 3 hull material)
Worst: An'quat
RR:
Best: All but the ones below
Worst: The Haakona (its wings are just too big and to highly angled) and the Dhelan / Dhael (not terrible, just not fantastic)
The Romulans are really well served with nice looking ships. The Klingons need a refit of a few more so they can all use the Type 3 material (Vo'quv / VoD'leh, Hegh'ta / Haj, K’Tanco, Somraw, and Kamarag / K’Maj) and then all of their ships (save for the unsavable An'quat) will look bloody nice.
The Federation has too many ships with meaningless spikes, angles, and odd shapes (Avenger, the Lunas, Magellan etc.) or really odd, bloated, oversized, or misshapen parts (Vespa, Excalibur, Celestial, Envoy, Majestic, Zephyr, Oslo, Comet, Polaris, Sol, Rapier, Ushaan, Cochrane, Discovery, Aurora, and Quasar)
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Best: Vor'cha and K'tinga Battlecruisers. Honorable mention for the Qui'tu Pilot Raptor which reminds me of the SR-71 Blackbird. If the impulse engines in the rear were done better, this would have taken first place.
Worst: It's a toss up between the Qib and the K'tinga refit. Fuggly!
Best looking-
Romulan- T'Varo
Feds- Phantom Intel Escort
KDF- Toughie........Qib
Worst-
Romulan- D'Deridex
Fed- Galaxy (All Variants)
KDF- Bird of Prey
Worst: Majestic. Never again.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Fed.
Best: Aventine, hands down. (Although Oddy has, by far, the best looking bridge, approached only by the Belfast bridge.)
Worst: Hmm... It'll be one of the command cruisers. I really don't like the nacelle arrangement aesthetics.
KDF:
Best: Hmm, I'm rather fond of the B'Rolth and the Ning'tao, but I think I have to give it to the Qui'Tu pilot raptor.
Worst: Kar'Fi battle carrier.
Rommy:
Best: Hmm. The Aelahl, I think.
Worst: The Mogai, followed very closely by the T'varo.
Worst : Vaadwaur Astika
(RRF) Baratan Operations Command Warbird, Deihu Science Command Warbird, Daeinos/Dinaes, "Faeht" (recte: Faehht), all Pilot Warbirds, T'varo, and T'liss. (Edit: Add Haakona/Kara to this tie.)
(KDF) D7, B'rel, and Qib
(Fed) D'Kyr, Scryer, Phantom, Yamato, and Constitution.
(Factionless): Xindi-Insectoid Olaen Heavy Escort Carrier
Worst-Looking: D'deridex, no contest, no competition.
Also, I think the Pilot Warbirds are very nice-looking, and do not understand all the hate I've seen people express about them. The Fed Pilot Ships, yes, are kind of drab, but the Pilot Warbirds look good.
the shapes lack of details, the wings seem made with paper. i read somewhere origami ships.
even the faeht could have been better (even if I like this ship), the neck is too short and the hull is too thick. the t'varo is a good example of a ship with nice proportions
devs can do a better job, the aehlah is the proof.
Worst: Scryer
Fed Side: Defiant
and Voyager like ships
Boxed: Any of the Temporal ships and of course the jewel of all time: JHAS T5 or T6
Awful looking:
Box ship: Elachi Sheshar...just so fgly
Fed not in box ship: Any saucer like ship...Oddy, Sovereign class, Galaxy, Andromeda look alikes...uhhggh
FED
Best - Sovereign. Always loved that ship from the moment I first saw her on the cinema screen in First Contact, I was a very happy boy when I first got it in game. Cryptic, hurry the smeg up and get a T6 version in game!
Worst - quite a few to choose from here, but I'm going to go with the Eclipse. Not only ugly, but also has no similarities at all with established Starfleet design.
KDF
Best - toss up between Negh'Var and Kamarag. Since I don't have the Negh'Var guess I'll say the Kamarag
Worst - The command cruisers. Just plain horrible!
ROM
Best - Mogai. Again, always loved the design right from the moment the Valdore first appeared in Nemesis (the Valdore being one of the very few redeeming features of that movie IMO)
Worst - Unpopular choice perhaps but the D'Deridex. Was never a fan of that design.
Honourable mentions also to the Narcine, Mobius/Wells and the new Kara Dread/Ha'apax
Best: Newer Fed and Romulan ships in general, but particularly the Scryer, Avenger, Aelahl, and Faeht. Also the Qib.
In general, a lot of the KDF ships look meh to me. Too much clutter and odd angles. The newer Fed ships look pretty great across the board, and I wish nothing more than for the Romulans to lose the pointless massive wings and go back to the double hull seen on the D'deridex, Aelahl, and (just a him) Faeht.
Ugliest : Theres just to many ugly things in the klingon enpire from the klingons themselves to their city not to mention their ships all ugly and they smell badly ...do klingons even bath?
Remember to spay and nueter your federation ships to help prevent federation ship overpopulation
>For best, I'm gonna have to agree with an earlier poster with the Hestia class, that ship and the Pathfinder Intrepid variant are pure beauties IMO. Very much modern trek style to me.
I also like the Odyssey very much and the work on the galaxy and galaxy x and Intrepid was first rate.
I like most of the variants of the Akira too, especially the last one.
And I love the Guardian class.
I love the Romulan Command variants as well.
>The ships I don't like are:
The Galaxy variants - Celestial class and I particularly HATE the Envoy class. In my opinion the Envoy should be taken OUT OF THE GAME it's so fugly.
The Imperial and the Noble classes aren't that nice too look at either.
I am NOT a fan of the new Excelsior class either, although, using some of the parts along with the original Excelsior parts, you can come up with something better.
I don't like the way the Nova and Rhode Island models look, they need work.
The Luna class needs work too, and I absolutely HATE the Comet variant.
I'd LOVE to see the Nova, Rhode Island, and Luna classes get some love and T6 treatment.
