I've been wondering why there is so much hate for people who play solo. I myself only play solo now, haven't touched a queue since long before DR, and only do the missions and other stuff.
I am also unaware of hate aimed at solo players. The vast majority of the game can be played solo, and if you're not interested in playing the queues for faster mark earnings and elite marks for rep gear, then you won't be affecting those who do group. *shrug* I don't know what to say, other than "sorry" if you have experienced hate for it.
I largely play solo these days and I haven't seen any hate at all.
I also wonder how you could encounter hate. I'm usually soloing all the stuff as well, but how would anyone find out? There have been occasional comments on solo players "not understanding the game, it's an MMO", but they are rare and far between (and usually come from some kind of self proclaimed elite nobody really cares about who themselves often do not understand the other three letters of the MMORPG genre). But on the forums you gotta get used to the fact that there are 2 or 3, maybe 4 strange people frequenting them.

I don't see any hate as I don't interact with other people ingame.

I haven't seen any hate for solo players here in the forums. If you've run into abuse in zone chat it's only because chat is filled with immature trolls that hate everyone, not solo players specifically. Just close the chat window.
OP might be referring to the game itself, or rather mechanics within the game that discourage soloers. requiring a fleet for example for gear and other perks, elite stf's being unpuggable unless extremely lucky. et al: everything cryptics done to discourage soloers at end game.

That's a joke right? I mean... It has to be.
Estimate (my estimate) is that 95% of the content in this game can be done, ignoring every other player in the game.
Fleet gear? Rep/RnD gear can be MUCH better.
Queued missions? Some/most of them can be done pretending the other players are NPC's, and even then, you don't technically need the gear to play the game anyways.
Storyline? What do you need a team for?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Sure, if you're talking about a couple crafted Science and Engineering consoles, a few universals, the weapons and the standard stuff like ship shields, engines, and deflectors, and ground shields and ground armor. Beyond that?
Fleets have hands down the pest tac consoles. Armor consoles. The embassy consoles are better than what most people will slot for Science, beyond maybe the one crafted science console. Kits. Kit modules. Secondary deflectors. Fleet ships. Warp cores. Pets. And beyond the actual gear don't forget all the slot upgrades are locked behind fleets. DOff slots? Fleet. Passive space and ground trait slots? Fleet. Active trait slots? Fleet. Starship trait slots? Fleet. R&D slots? Fleet.
There is a LOT of indispensable stuff locked behind fleet membership...

Though I think for most players only the trait slots would be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority flew without active doffs on their roster because you might notice it when you start doffing, but it isn't worth it, and then it's just two fields in a tab you don't open that often ("roster").
Apart from that, the "indispensable" is doubtful. Sure, better than many other consoles and stuff. But really needed? We're getting a few percentage points of technical improvement but that will be easily outshone by player skills and general ship setup. When people get an Annorax, and slot Spire consoles, BFAW and 100 weapon power - the spire consoles don't really help utilizing that ship.

RnD gear as someone else stated isn't better, not by a long shot, then there's elite pets, fleet ships, besides the consoles, trait slots, doff slots...get the picture? stf elite missions, try pugging those eh? npc's at times would be of more use than the randoms you can get thrown in with.
as to your last line...i DID say end game did i not? why yes, yes i did.

Sure, fleet Vulnerability Locators are a little better than crafted tac consoles, but for solo play with the exception of PUG PVP you don't need them for any of the content. The "plain" consoles will easily get you over 10K DPS.

That's still two passive trait slots, an active trait slot and a starship trait slot. That's... a lot. And the suggestion is to use Reps and R&D to circumvent Fleets, and... there's an R&D slot locked to Fleets.
Also, I'm pretty sure anyone who knows anything is slotting DOffs. There's a lot of useful buffs there, and not everyone has AHoD and Reciprocity up their sleeves, and as a result the Aux2Bat craze is far from dead (and a2b is more reliable than Reciprocity, so boon there). And it's not just the two roster slots, it's also three DOff assignment slots that are locked behind Fleets, which give more XP, Dil and the like.
To be good, yeah you need Fleet stuff. There's a number of options that give great boosts to criticals (the most desired thing atm) and flat dps, and survivablity as well. Not to mention Fleet ships give a 10% bonus to shields and hull, and an extra console slot (which usually means you can slot another Embassy console or tac console for even more dps).
If your argument is that you can absolutely suck at the game without Fleet stuff, and that you will still probably be able to beat the low-end content of the game while sucking then, hey, I guess you're right. If you want to not suck though... Fleet stuff is indispensable.

None of those extra trait slots existed 2 months ago, does that mean "you sucked" then?
I just read that I phrased something badly so it could be misunderstood: active space doffs are not worth it when you first notice them with you 13 white and 2 green doffs at level 11. Later they do give some nice traits though you have to find the right ones to suit you, and it certainly doesn't look too useful in parts at first glance. "When activating Tyken's Rift/A2B/etc. the following happens" doesn't seem very useful when you are not used to slotting these abilities and would have to re-think your gameplay if you want to use them. But yes, for me the doff slots (including the three mission slots) are usually the first things a toon gets from its fleet.
So I'll give them back to you but I'll take the ship trait in return - I am not sure that many players even have 5 useful abilities for them. They probably own the three T6 event ships (and the Sarr Theln's ability is useless if you don't fly a carrier) and maybe one more, these TRIBBLE aren't cheap. What would be interesting in this discussion of course is a ratio of casual to hardcore gamers (I don't mean the usual definitions of these words, but "players who take an active interest in builds and fleets" vs "players who are happy to fly around and click some buttons and something happens", the former easily include a lot of "casual players" in the usual sense) Especially since I see quite a few people who DO own good ships and probably gear who still "suck" somewhat. So if you're good at the game, you can easily win advanced queues or more or less carry others through a red alert even without fleet gear.
That being said: fleet consoles are nice, and I probably am only flying universals and them, with the sole rep console (I think) the assimilated console from Omega.

If you bought a top of the line computer ten years ago, is it still top of the line despite the fact that you can't run anything on it today?
We aren't talking about Cryptic adding things to the game laterally, we're talking about straight up undeniable increases in power. And it's not just a one way street. A year ago you could easily beat an Elite queue with in T5 ship with very rare Mk. XII gear. Now? Well, elites are harder, and we have T6 Fleet ships running Mk. XIV Epic gear to compensate. Try pugging an elite with your pre-DR stuff and see how much everyone appreciates your contribution.
So I'll give them back to you but I'll take the ship trait in return - I am not sure that many players even have 5 useful abilities for them.
I believe there's one or two given away in missions. There's also several (including Reciprocity) in lockboxes, and on the Exchange by way of lockboxes. And don't forget the one given from the Delta event. And every specialization has one.
It's not hard to have more "ship" traits than you could know what to do with, even if you don't buy ships.
And again, this is founded upon the idea of "Well, if you're fine sucking you can suck just fine without a fleet." Again, if you want to be good you need a fleet. There's no other option.
Plenty of fleets are maxed out, have an incredibly low bar for membership, and you literally don't have to talk to anyone in order to get all the benefits of membership. Moreover, there are services that provide free access to fleet gear and ships. There is no excuse for someone to say they have "limited access". My fleet is pretty much 100% soloists since DR killed PvP, the queues, and anything resembling MMO gameplay.

Wait, there's more trait slots if you're in a fleet? O_o Huh, did not know that. Just knew about the better gear & extra costume slot.
edit: and yeah - hate for soloists? Where? Main "hate" I see is for low-DPS players cluttering up queues. Which isn't soloing. /shrug
