So to be "good" you need Epic XIV Fleet consoles, Epic XIV weapons, 300 million in lockbox traits, $120+ in ship mastery traits, and must fly a Scimitar with 5 SROs?
OK, but that seems a little excessive for proving that Cryptic "hates" solo players. That seems more like Cryptic "hates" players not willing to spend $500+ on gearing up.
I've been wondering why there is so much hate for people who play solo. I myself only play solo now, haven't touched a queue since long before DR, and only do the missions and other stuff.
Someone out there does hate you, and I feel for you. However, I doubt soloists are more hated than any other hated group of people here. To much hate in general, sure, but nothing special for soloists, just the usual.
Sure, if you're talking about a couple crafted Science and Engineering consoles, a few universals, the weapons and the standard stuff like ship shields, engines, and deflectors, and ground shields and ground armor. Beyond that?
Fleets have hands down the pest tac consoles. Armor consoles. The embassy consoles are better than what most people will slot for Science, beyond maybe the one crafted science console. Kits. Kit modules. Secondary deflectors. Fleet ships. Warp cores. Pets. And beyond the actual gear don't forget all the slot upgrades are locked behind fleets. DOff slots? Fleet. Passive space and ground trait slots? Fleet. Active trait slots? Fleet. Starship trait slots? Fleet. R&D slots? Fleet.
There is a LOT of indispensable stuff locked behind fleet membership...
Though I think for most players only the trait slots would be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority flew without active doffs on their roster because you might notice it when you start doffing, but it isn't worth it, and then it's just two fields in a tab you don't open that often ("roster").
Apart from that, the "indispensable" is doubtful. Sure, better than many other consoles and stuff. But really needed? We're getting a few percentage points of technical improvement but that will be easily outshone by player skills and general ship setup. When people get an Annorax, and slot Spire consoles, BFAW and 100 weapon power - the spire consoles don't really help utilizing that ship.
IMHO a Fleet K'tinga IS indespensible
I can see why someone would feel that way, but there are other ways to get good stuff also, so your both right maybe?
Plenty of fleets are maxed out, have an incredibly low bar for membership, and you literally don't have to talk to anyone in order to get all the benefits of membership. Moreover, there are services that provide free access to fleet gear and ships.
This is more or less true. There are a lot of fleets with low bars for memberships and privileges. It isn't always easy to find one that isn't dead or full though, easier if you're Fed, not so much if you're KDF. And the "free services" don't work unless you're in a fleet and given access there pre-invites, and last I checked it still doesn't apply for ships, to get a fleet ship I believe you have to do it from your own fleets shipyards.

No, but to be good you need good stuff, and a lot of that good stuff is locked behind fleets. Like... a LOT of it. As in, if you don't join a fleet (unless you're flying a fleet-level 3-packer) you're down 10% to all of your defensive statistics right out of the gate, you're a console shy, you're always going to be pretty much one slot short on everything that involves slots, and you're missing out on all the best non-unique consoles... and you lack a lot of opportunities to make dilithium, EC and XP thanks to things like missing 15% of the DOff slots a person in a Fleet has access to.
OK, but that seems a little excessive for proving that Cryptic "hates" solo players.
I never said that. The topic creator said that. I'm just saying that downplaying the worth of fleet stuff to "disprove" the topic creator is questionable, bordering on dishonest.
