yes, i remember but I couldn't spell the word ha. well, I'm a huge Denise fan because of her work on Trekkies and her love for Star Trek so she can do no wrong for me - though I do make fun of her voice acting on here endlessly.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

she's right back to "I'm the victim here!"

It makes me wonder if her collection of psychoses might include "Damaged Personality Disorder" (what Berne called "Playing the Victim Game").

    Not unlike Gul Dukat, actually.

What incompetence to have allowed her to escape. She should have been shot in the spot or alternately, tracked long enough to sabotage the ship she escaped on and arrange an "accident." My Reman, anyway, would've been happy to do that.

This too. Even my Cardassian-Fed (who as a Cardassian would seek a humiliating and public conviction prior to executing her) would've knocked her out and put her into stasis pending trial, with her to remain in stasis any time she is not in the courtroom.

    Well darn.

I had hoped that with the revelation that Sela had caused her own problems and how reticent she sounded at the end of Midnight, she would have become better than she was. Perhaps working to sew the rift between the Star Empire and Republic in the new age of exploration and peace. That perhaps some part of her mother would surface and she would see that despite the strength it gave her, the brutality of her father's teachings only begat more brutality.

Ah, well. So much for that wishful thinking. :'(

This is Sela we're talking about, after all. Like the people in the area where I currently live might say, "She ain't right (in the head)." And like I've said before about her, some psychological/psychiatric conditions are incurable -- even in the 25th century.

When I first got to the point in Midnight where she held the World Heart in her hand, I literally held my breath and hesitated whether to approach her or not. XD

"Uuuh... Sela? DON'T YOU DARE DROP THAT THING!"

After the mission, my first thought was:
"Toss her to the Republic!" - I'm sure D'Tan, Kererek and Tiaru wouldn't mind.

But after reading this, I think the revelation that the Hobus Event happened all because of her, was enough of a shocker, and she's being pulled down by her own conscience - serves her right!

For better or worse, the whole ordeal changed her. Especially after seeing how we ended the war. -- I guess we'll see what path she'll take in the future.

As for how the Icos knew she was Romulan:
I'm guessing Kagran talked more than he should've during his stay on Ancient Iconia. Knowing Klingons, the first thing he visited was the local wine cellar.

But this - what Sela did - must get out. It will probably hurt and anger the Romulans. Big time. But they have a right to know.

    One other thing:
I think it's time for Starfleet to launch a new branch: L.A.F.I.

I wouldn't be very hopeful here. The Romulan Republic already sees Sela as a criminal. She has already commited or been complicit in so many crimes against the Romulan Republic and (former) Romulan Star Empire citizens... The whole Elachi situation alone is already too horrendous.

And the people still loyal to Sela will consider it propaganda of Romulan traitors or the Federation. Kagran (as witness) would probably be called a Federation puppet (why else would the Federation allow a Klingon in charge of the major war operations?)

Unless Sela can accept her own fault and changes her ways, the whole thing is pretty hopeless.

I kinda hope that the Liberated Borg from the Romulan flagship has still plotted his own revenge for Sela...

While it will hurt the Romulans short term, I think though because it is a predestined paradox might actually help Sela and the Romulans long term. She couldn't do anything to get out of it. It had to happen, because it had happened. As my captain understood it, there was really nothing she or the Romulan people could do.

Hell, it is technically why I can't really blame the Iconians either. I mean, yes they need to face up to what happened, but it would always happen. Short term, we'll hate them, but long term, I think we'll be able to make things better with them.

Oh, THAT would be pretty sweet...she richly deserves it for forcing him to relive his torture at the hands of the Borg.

Damn... SELA escapes; again for the Nth time.

Isn't it getting a little to comical to note:

The TalShiar's expertise in sabotage, subterfuge via the Rommie republic, the Klinkies ample experience in brigs, torture and confessions and the Feddies confusing small talk, under the table negotiation and ample resources for bringing evidence to the table... ALL being fooled by one old has been that somehow manages to bring the do-minions with who knows what.

Only to watch the entiere Alpha and Beta quadrants (and the Delta quadrant, Benthan, Hazari are not too happy with her either) being duped into letting her escape on Earth while she was supposed to be held into custody or shot in the head the moment anyone lays eyes on her... Something is fishy around here.

It's like a world wide manhunt to catch a dangerous individual with weapons of mass destruction from Artica to Antartica... while he/she is taking a bus on the outskirts of the White House (with the corresponding video in youtube) after visiting a nuclear weapons depot (how the hell this happened? Is beyond me); all the way to the Kremlin (to do the same also there and in at least 15 cities and countries) in broad daylight with said bus ticket...and all the security agencies from around the globe are like... DUDE LOOK AT THAT! when she/he posts Twitter selfies in a Greece, Mexico or Brazil shores after fooling everyone. This is just not well at all.

Of course the difference is Dukat constructed an entire narrative for himself where he was the hero. He uplifted Bajor. He dedicated his life to them, and those ingrates rejected him. It also helps that Marc Alaimo is charismatic as hell.

Sela on the other hand just keeps making paper thin excuses.
Say what you like about Dukat, but seeing his own daughter killed broke him. What happens after... isn't really Dukat anymore. Finding out that she is responsible for Romulus going kaboom should've similarly broken Sela, but she's still carrying on like before.

The ship travels far from Earth, headed for a rendezvous with another vessel so Sela can go further into hiding. At the meeting site Qwen and Sela are surprised to find a S'Golth floating there. "All is in readiness" comes the voice of El'Neth-L'Eral over subspace. "I have your T'Ket ready, Sela"

Sela says "Ticket! That's not very funny..."

    Gate appears, Ialdon comes out.

"No, I meant T'Ket..." As Oblivion Gate and Crescent Wave Cannon start charging, Qwen just whimpers "But it was just good business" ZZZZZZZZZZZZT

"The Whole must be as One"

Seriously, someone needs to kill/vaporize/erase from time Sela. The woman is absolutely evil, and as Protogoth says has no conscience. If she did she would have committed suicide after finding out what she did.

Praetor's Log, 4th day of 3rd month of Air, year 2 After Rediscovery:

I keep telling people not to trust Sela, not to believe in her words, not to expect her to reform, not to attribute noble motives to her acts. She is even now still absorbed in her narcissism, likely seeking some scapegoat upon whom to shift the responsibility for the destruction of Romulus. I should have been at least allowed to put her in irons and drag her back to ch'Mol'Rihan. But no, "She brought the Dominion to help," according to the gullible Hevammsu. I have prepared an order for our Counterintelligence operatives, since it is probable that Sela will soon find a way off of Terrha, if indeed that be not already accomplished. Much as I would prefer to look her in the eyes as I myself end her once and for all, the order goes out today: a hit on Sela is sanctioned by order of Praetor Ji'ana of the Tal'Diann.

    End Log.

I tried but she was somehow immune to plasma bolts! Will try again next time I see her. Apologies for my previous failure.

I'll just quote myself from elsewhere on this topic
This is what happens when you make feddie-bear only content dialogue... Any Romulan worth their ears would have shot her in the faces or arrested her on the spot at the end of "Midnight" but nooooooooooooo. Hell even one of the lemmings that like the caricature of the RSE that Cryptic made would have "arrested her" and gotten her to their ship immediately.

Sela's an extremist, a megalomaniac and she's vengeful. She doesn't care what she does, or who she does it to, so long as she gets what she wants.

She had a beef with the Iconians, so like the pragmatist she is, she allied herself with us, to get what she wanted REVENGE.
That's why she wouldn't stay allied with us, her methods are too extreme for the alliance. We were desperate, so we let her tag along and do her thing instead of immediately throwing her in some deep dark hole and forgetting about her forever.

Now that the Iconian situation has been resolved, she's back to her old ways and settling back to her old role.
We can clearly see that in her reaction to the revelry around her.
She knows she has a lot to answer for, some bridges that have been burned can never be rebuilt.

But she had to escape, because she's not done stirring up trouble.

So now the question one has to ask is: How deep is her ties to the Dominion? I could totally see her running to them to form an alliance again, stirring up trouble with that hornet's nest.

Maybe the Dominion would like some revenge too, for the war. Revenge makes strange bedfellows.
And like she said in Midnight, "Revenge is a very powerful weapon." She'll need a very powerful weapon to take the alliance on again. And she craves power.

Odd how she's spiritually closest to T'Ket. (Though I think T'Ket would not appreciate the comparison)

Well, the dominant (but not the only) Romulan religion in the waning years of the Star Empire was the Way of D'Era, the followers of which are called "the Children of Ket-Cheleb." Ket-Cheleb was the old Vulcan God of War, and T'Ket is the Iconian "Warlord." Make of that what you will.
