Wasn't the Phantom Escort essentially a T6 Defiant replacement? The differences between a FT5-U Defiant and a FT6 Phantom are pretty much what you'd expect in a T6 update, with a slight knock in hull strength. Now, I think it'd be pretty nice, and super easy, for them to add a Defiant skin to the Phantom. Would that satisfy anybody?
Exactly as much as the Guardian Cruiser was the replacement for the Galaxy Class, or the Command Cruisers were a replacement for the Excelsior Class.
SO.. Nope. The Phantom is aesthetically clearly inspired by the Defiant, but it is not the Tier 6 Defiant. If it was the Tier 6 Defiant, you could use costume parts of the Tier 6 Defiant with it. And you can't.
I think the Guardian cruiser would have worked out OK as the T6 Ambassador class, actually. But they didn't do it that way so w/e.
Honestly, while I know this one was in demand, I too am a bit saddened by the fact that there's yet again another solo Fed release. Players have been clamouring for a T6 Bird of Prey for a loooooooooong time.
It's a vicious cycle. They don't make science ships because they don't sell well. They don't sell well because they don't make science ships (and when they do, they're TRIBBLE).
No, there is no vicious cycle here, unless Cryptic beancounters don't know how to count their beans correctly.
They can take any given single Cruiser they released and count how much money it made them. And then they can look at any single Science Vessel they made and count how much money it made them.
We can estimate that the cost for making a Cruiser or a Science Vessel (or an Escort, or a KDF ship, or a Romulan ship) are usually around the same - it doesn't matter what stats you use or what aesthetics you follow, you still gotta make the same type of work that will cost a similar amount of work hours to get done.
So, whatever ship had more sales is the kind of ship that is gonna make them more money.
OF course, once they realized that they put out 6 C-Store Cruisers in the same time they released 3 Science Vessels and each C-Store Cruiser made more money than each Science Vessel, they can safely say that Science Vessels don't sell well. If the player population loved Cruisers and Science Vessels equally, then each Science Vessel should at minimum sell as well as each Cruiser, but quite possibly even more, since there are fewer Science Vessels to choose from so you don't risk cannibalizing sales.
I think the same math is what leads to a ship like the Hestia being released without Romulan or Klingon counter-parts - there is room for another Fed ship on the market, that won't cannibalize sales of other Fed ships, but the KDF and RR population isn't that far yet.
Now, one could theorize that Cruisers are popular because they deliver the best DPS or something like that and that'S what everyone is after, and maybe that is true.
But my memory tells me that Cruisers were always really popular with players, at all times, even when some called the game "Escorts Online" and everyone was envious of Escorts (and Bird of Preys and sometimes eve Carriers ). People asked for buffs for Cruisers, there were long threads demanding improvements to the Galaxy Class Cruiser (never seen such long threads for the D'Kyr or the Deep Space Science Vessel or Recon Science Vessel).

I'm not normally one to nitpick like this, but surely "Hestia-class" should be reserved for the T6 update to the Vesta? What with being basically just Greek and Roman names for the same figure. Isn't there a more appropriate name for the T6 Prometheus?
In Greek mythology, Prometheus is the Titan who made the gift of fire to mankind. And Hestia is the greek fire goddess. So yes, Hestia is an appropriate name for a T6 Prometheus, especially considering the fire-themed special console of the ship.
Though I love the look of it, do we seriously need another t6 fed tac ship/escort. And apparently there is a t6 defiant on its way. What's the point? I want my t6 Sovy!

I want a T6 Sovereign too, but we have 8 fed cruisers (Eclipse, Guardian, Resolute, Andromeda, Arbiter, and the 3 Command Cruisers) and only 5 escorts (6 with the T6 Veteran destroyer ; Phantom, Alita and the 3 pilot ships). So excepting science ships, more escorts are more needed than other cruisers for the feds.
Magnificient ship, polyvalent console (offensive + defensive + weapon power boost), and an interesting trait against hp-bag capital ships (i think that the console + the trait will be quite useful in tholian and borg red alerts).
I have a question for the devs : will the devices like deployable turrets or scorpion fighters (that we can earn in "The Vault" mission) benefit from the Trait or are they considered as hangar pets ?

I'd have gone with Charon myself, but meh.... Hmm....
Prometheus - titan who gave the gift of fire to mankind.
Cerberus - hound who guarded the underworld.
Phoenix - mystic bird that reincarnated.
Hephaestus - blacksmith god
Soo... Hestia(goddess of architecture) kinda fits... And yeah, all of them are associated with fire in some way.
ok i hope that we will be able to use the multi- vector assualt mode console on the new ship as i saw no mention of it in the blog
From the blog " When installed, this system is present on all sections of separated Multi-Vector Assault Mode escorts, allowing all sections to coordinate the use of these dangerous plasma expulsers. In addition, this console provides a passive bonus to plasma and tetryon damage resistance rating as well as a boost to Weapon Power."
I would take that as a definite YES! I am happy about that, the Prometheus with MVAM was one of my FAVORITE ships, alas,, as happened to many ships, they just grew very out of date with todays gameplay. This ship is going on my WILL BUY list !!!!

When we get a BAD@$$ T6 Assault Cruiser and makes a fair stand versus anything in PVE or PVP and looks nice... You'll get me as lifetimer and more buddies coming along not to mention investment.
So get your butt out there and bring me a REAL Assault Cruiser T6 that kicks TRIBBLE$.
In any case, good job; it looks really nice and nasty. Hope to buy it IF we get an updated Assault Cruiser that is REALLY good...
If even one player decides not to buy this ship for whatever reasons, your marketing plan has FAILED.
Instead of bolstering the Fleet system by tying a steak around it's neck to get people to play with it all the time and catering to only one class at a time,
How about releasing a three pack: Cruiser, Escort, Science ship based on the artist's selected look?
Making these eleven console Fleet equivalents like the Command ships would insure sales.
You can still have these ships available to Fleets as well, just don't put them behind the Starbase level wall like you usually do and discourage people like me from buying them.
This was a ship I wanted a while back when I first heard about it. Unfortunately, it took too long to come out. The ship looks nice all but the nacelles, I don't see any mention of a Prometheus interior, and I really don't want to offer up another $5 for a fleet module to bring it up to spec.
I am also too annoyed with the Fed favoritism to bother spending money. The T6 BoP was leaked at the same time this was and yet we still have yet to see that. Until I see an 11 console T6 BoP straight out of the C-Store, you won't be getting any money out of me!

I know you said "even one player" (me) and "for whatever reasons" (standalone Federation offering)... but since my reason for not purchasing it is completely different from yours, does that count?
Oh, and to reiterate, it's not the desinger's fault, that's a very nice looking ship. I just choose not to support lopsided offerings, that's all.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

Nothing like the Resolute ... but sexy enough.
Why, thank you.
Still, it is indeed very pretty,
Me too! :-)
Most unexpectedly, this turned into a flame-fest! Closed it goes!. /sigh What flamefestery is this? pwlaughingtrendy

Well that just ruined the whole thing like it always does.
Why can't ships be released like the Command Ships already at Fleet Level?
I'll wait for the ship sale then.

My character Tsin'xing
I'd really love to see a T6 Vesta before i'd consider buying this ship though but I can still appreciate the quality of the design.
And "Hestia-class"? Makes me wonder if someone is an Anime fan.
Besides, you would think they would reserve this name for the T6 Vesta, because Vesta and Hestia are the same goddess.

It's...it's not working! I want that ship! I want it now!
I tried that.
Going to try some jewelry and watches next.

Goodbye 35 dollars.
I saw this post and nearly screamed I was so excited.
