https://twitter.com/NeverWinterGod This guy is bragging about shutting Neverwinter down. It's affecting CO and STO too. Can we say "Seperate servers are needed"?
Which hacker group is claiming responsibility and why are they attacking? I know most hacker groups attack because of censorship...censorship is a big no no and a lot of hacker groups will bring a server down over it, however...until we know which hacker group it is, there is no way of knowing.

His IP, if anyone is interested is 208.95.185.222. Silly fool did a poor job of covering it.
Silly people thinking they're smarter than the script kiddy. If you look at the line of his screen shot, it says "reply from 208.95.185.222". In other words, it's the reply from the cryptic server. oi vay.
I think NeverGodz is actually Cryptic Tech Support. Everything got so stable, they needed to drum up some business, so they have a guy in their server closet flipping the on-off switch to the PDU.
Well, i think we need an event to make up for all our down time today, something like a replay of old series, it would be nice to be able to get some of those old rewards on new toons. Just to get some specialization points or upgrade things. A series a week until they are all done should do
Or better yet the return of OMEGA particals, just cuz i'm out now and need some more stuff upgraded

I have faith in you guys. Kick their.... Well, you know what I am talking about. Or maybe you can find them and hold them down and let me talk politics and religion to them until their brain stops like they do to everyone in chat...
Leadership
As you may remember, we recently disabled the ability to use the Leadership profession on Gateway. This was due to an extreme number of bots generating far too much AD, and creating havoc with the AD economy. By disabling the profession on Gateway, we were able to reduce this artificially inflated number. Unfortunately, botters found a way around this fix. As we looked into the data, and as we analyzed what we could do to fix this exploit, we came to the conclusion that the way to stop the botters was to remove AD from the Leadership profession. There will still be a few sources in there, but nothing that botters can use to continue breaking the economy. In some cases, AD was replaced with extra XP, but by and large, AD was straight- up removed from the profession. We know this will be frustrating for those who were not exploiting, but the downside of leaving AD in the profession was too severe. Once this work is done, Leadership will be re-enabled on Gateway. Remember, we want players to receive Astral Diamonds for the time they spend actively playing the game, so (beyond the exploit) it didn't really make sense to have something that runs in the background as a major source of this currency.
I'm guessing the people who were botting this to exploit Neverwinter are retaliating for it.
So it is Cryptic's fault........for trying to prevent the Neverwinter economy from collapsing and shutting down something that was being heavily exploited.
no updates in the last 6 hours... 3 games worth of people experiencing this and nothing. wtf
"@NeverwinterGame Im sorry but the guy ddosing is doing a better job at updates, at least we know when he's taking the server down. LOL."

Its the weekend, and its probably after people already left work with our luck. Most likely no response until tomorrow morning when the full crew returns to work.

Well they have actually updated their FB/Twitter with this latest attack saying they're "on it" but you know how that goes. We shall see. Guess I'll go to bed and hope everything is fixed by tomorrow.

Is this something that is legally actionable? That is to say, can Cryptic take effective action against this guy? It seems that his own posts with the time posted for when he is starting his attacks ought to count as some sort of evidence, since I'm reasonably sure that computer geeks can match up the timing.

While I am not a lawyer, I would believe that it would be as Cryptic is a business, and the purpose of a DDoS is to block services from being usable via flooding the target. Essentially the perp was disrupting a busness and prevented said business from functioning and making money.
So... shot version... we could be looking at maybe Criminal Mischief at least if Cryptic wants to press charges.

Are you joking or being serious? I did a google search and it seems that IP address is from Los Gatos, CA. - Cryptic Studios.

Everything seems to point that IP address at Cryptic.
He's doing it for attention. The Snively Whiplash moustache twisting taunts make that pretty clear.

I agree. Not to mention he seemed to be very adamant about people not giving LizardSquad the credit. He wants the glory of this one for sure.
