When I try to transfer to certain maps, my client get stuck saying a specific percentage and hangs. It starts to hang around 40%. I have to kill the program and start up in order to log back in. I am not getting any error messages with this. Is anyone else having trouble. I am running the client in Safe Mode since the game is unable to use DirectX 9.

I'm running Windows 10, with an R9 M295X. There is no older set of drivers for my system to roll back to. I'd rather not reformat to Windows 7, but this same system worked fine before (on W7).
Having the same issue. I was having the occasional CTD with the option of a support ticket prior to Thursday. Since Thursday's patch, the map transfer progress freezes at around 90%. The music keeps playing in the background, then I click on the screen and I get the Gameclient is not responding with the option to close or continue.
It did it three times yesterday, and already once this morning as I wanted to start Butterfly.

This one, about 3 post in, the thread changes to the game locking up on map transfers.

It may not affect everyone but it is affecting a lot of us.
I was unable to file a bug-report in-game, so I submitted one via Arc and explicitly mentioned that the client does not appear to be generating any error reports. Maybe they can direct us to download some additional debug process that can watch STO while we replicate the issue..
I really hope the Devs fix this. This bug seems to happen to me mostly at DS9 whether switching from Sector to System, or System to Station.
All this despite my running the game in Safe Mode for the past few weeks, due to this bug involving the game client forcing DX11 settings, and freezing up when starting the game. The end behaviors are similar, so I'm wondering if the causes could be related.
Chiming in here as I started one of the other threads linked by atlmykl above. This started happening for me after the last patch as well. Usually I get to around 90% or thereabouts before it hangs, and it can be after a variable amount of playtime before it shows its face.
This is obviously more widespread than I had imagined.
Edit: I found a fix to my general loading issues within my Windows 10 virtual machine, and so I was able to load the game. Unfortunately, my VM also has the same map transfer hang. I'm going to try the fix in my Windows XP VM and if it doesn't crash there, it's probably related to DX11.
Edit 2: Windows XP also crashes at 40.84% when transferring from DS9 space to ground (and since it's XP, I was only running at 1080 resolution and some other settings were turned down). I don't know what to think any more.
Edit 3: I saw some new Tribble notes
which mentioned an FX fix. I got set up for Tribble and tested it. Map transitions worked fine in my virtual machine.
Hopefully this fix stays fixed long enough to make it Live!
The 40% Bug it is.
I really do hope this fix comes up on the next patch. I have been having a bad time with The 40% Bug a lot more since this last patch. Were you using Safe mode, or regular mode? The notes didn't mention a fix for the forced DX11.
1) Are you running through Steam?
2) Before opening the game, did you tell Steam that you want DivX 9?
3) After opening the game, did you go tell STO that you want DiX 9?
I had to do all three of those. But it works.
For #2... http://feedback.overwolf.com/knowledgebase/articles/380198-how-to-change-a-steam-game-to-directx-9
For #3... Press escape, then Options/Display/Video Card, select "Direct3D 9 #1" and reboot the game.
1. I am not using Steam. I am using the STO installer--not Arc.
2. Since I am not using Steam, this does not apply.
3. I run the game in Safe Mode since STO is currently forcing users to use DirectX 11, which I have been unable to get working with STO and my computer.
OS X El Capitan 10.11.2
Turning on the Reduced File Streaming in advanced options has fixed this for me.
I've had this running since the weekend now and I've not really hit any stalls. Just slightly longer loading screens sometimes.
I do not use STEAM or ARC, I installed the game from my game disc.
Most 2 recent crashes; (1) Leaving CCA back to Space at Ganalda (2) Leaving Ganalda Back to Ganalda Orbit.
Previous craches - (1) DS9 back to Orbit; (2) Vulga Mine back to ship; (3) New Romulus Orbit to New Romie Command.
So far today, all 9 of my toons have been affected across all factions. I've had to reload the frackin game so many times I'm beginning to wonder if Cryptic fixed anything with the last patch.. They clearly stated :Resolved Map Changing Issues"..
I wonder which game they REALLY fixed, 'cause this STO is still fracked..//Thanks//

yeah, dev team should implement more crash monitoring tools, afer all arc is running on bacground, using extra resources, why not implement some crash/ status monitoring tools here?
or they can implement "crash monitor" option to normal game, and when turned on it will very closely monitor game status and when it crash, it will send all that info to devs in hope to fix this issue.
and yes, sto is more crashing than many other games.

its directx related i beleive but this fixed it
I found a solution to this problem that worked for me:
1. Go to the folder where STO is installed. In my case, it was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Star Trek Online_en"
2. From there, open ".\Star Trek Online\Live\localdata", or just search for "Gameprefs.Pref"
3. Rename "Gameprefs.Pref" to "Gameprefs.Pref-old"
4. At this point, you may want to reboot. I did for good measure.
I have not had a recurrence of the 40% issue since. I've been able to swap maps a bunch without a single crash from this issue.
