But with Taychon Beam III, high flow capcitor skill, the Destabilized Tachyon Emitters Console and Elite Orion Tacyon Drones (which also has a tetyron turret so they can take advantage of crf I) shields seem to melt like butter.
I just prefer a direct beam overload hit. Plain and simple.
There's nothing wrong with the ships, but from a KDF main's perspective, not having a set bonus like the others is just...inconsiderate.
And lazy.
They could fix it, though.
They can give it dual Cmdr Tacs or dual LtCmdr EngPilots.
Heck, change that LtCmdr Uni to a Cmdr Uni.
If it won't have set piece abilities MAKE UP FOR IT.
That's the problem I have with it.
NO to ARC RIP KDF and PvP 2014-07-17 Season 9.5 - Death by Dev
They are right the klingons and romulans got a better ships than the feds did with the heavy Esc Car ,look at the fed BO lay out if you dont agree,,they need to change it, if i had seen that before i had brought the fed ship id would not have bought it, And why couldnt it have had 5 forward weapons ??? ,like the pilot did ,o and feds not getting a cloak on the pilot ship is also bull ,if you cant make us equal ships im not going to buy them ,and your sci plasma console is broken ,and thx 4 revamping pvp into and fun warzone with terra control that brought our old friends back to STO ,,,,o wait you didnt ,,,,, well nice try any way
You know what happens if you don't equip a 3-console set on a ship? You have 3 spare console slots! Fill them with something else. Those Vulnerability Exploiters and the Plasma-Doping consoles seem very popular, and there are also a few universal consoles from the various reputations that are pretty potent.
A minor set bonus certainly does not warrant giving a ship two Commander slots.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
The Qa'tel gets a cloak without the usual stat penalties compared with the fed verison, and a slightly better boff layout, and the Alita gets really, really good set bonuses (15% off CD for tac and pilot powers alone is really good, and the other stuff is good too).

Most people buy the ships for the 3-console bonuses. It maybe useless, but its fancy and its there. If you cut off that, the ship is not better than the other dozens out there. Or maybe just slighty better but not enough to just buy the ship.

They do? I don't.
And in case of the Raptor, there are no 3 different Re(tro)fits of the Qin to buy.
I think the set bonuses are often a build trap, and definitely a pay trap - buying 3 variants of a ship to get a 3-set bonus is certainly great for Cryptic, but is it good value for your money?

Wow, really?
I didn't think they were that popular, but I never really asked people about it. I actually never consider the console at all when buying ships, normally the first thing I do once I claim a ship is toss whatever 'gimmick' console it comes with. I pretty much only look at BoFF layout, Trait, Console slots, etc.
Come to think of it though, you might be right.. I do still frequently see people using that stupid Thalaron burst thing on a Scimitar. Seems nuts to me, but I'm sure they sucker in a good deal of buyers.
The Qa'tel gets a cloak without the usual stat penalties compared with the fed verison,
? do you realize the Qa'tel is a klingon ship, right?
I'm pretty sure he does since he knows, because raptors have a cloak, they've gotten poorer stats than their fed counterparts. The HEC raptor does not get that penalty.
Personally, although the romulan HEC is pigeonholed, I like all 3 for different reasons, but the KDF made out with a great ship on this one. In fact, I think we should start complaining that the t6 negh'var should get better stats since it did not get a set bonus.

Bingo, traditionally there is a trade off for the cloak on a Raptor vs. Escort, and that is lower stats where survival is concerned. This is not the case with the Qa'tel vs. Alita, the Qa'tel is just as tough as the Alita, same shields, turn rate, hull points, ect... except that the Qa'tel has a cloak which means it can ambush the Alita, and the Atila has no more hull points or shields to then the Qa'tel to soak the damage.
The Atila would be straight up worse then the Qa'tel, except, it can have access to the set bonuses, which if you have them are really great, helps to make the Atila one of the best torpedo boats in the game, 20% kinetic damage, extra crit severity, extra crit chance, 15% less cd on tac and pilot abilities, which dove tails with the ships trait, which with the right pets can be brutal (it works great on Elite Scorpions for example).
So do you see how they are balanced now?
The Jha'uel on the other hand is its own beast, it has its own tricks, and I'm curious as to the effect of a battle cloak on pets.
On my Qa'tel I find my pets don't attack and they seem to go unnoticed when I'm cloaked, even when they're under the attack command. Maybe I'm nuts.
If a failure is seeing the Federation Akira in nearly every PvE pug match i've done the last 2 and a bit days, then Cryptic might need sometime with the chiropractor carrying all the £££ to the bank they got from sales.
I bought the fed version and am very happy with it. The Akira skin is gorgeous, the skip performs exceptionally well and is solid and pulls high dps numbers.
But if you mean failure with KDF and Romulan sales then i can't argue there as the trait/console and ships in general don't interest me and i haven't seen many Rom or KDF HEC around
I've seen a few Qa'tels at Qournos and in one PUG, but I don't PUG much, prefering the Agala System, Red Alerts, Episodes, and Empire Defence Missions, with the occasional foundry mission.
While that may be YOUR opinion, I think the new ships are great, and I'm logging in right now to buy them. Also, why would a large beast of a ship like the Excelsior or its refit have the pilot skill? That would have been cool,, but makes no sense.
Agreed...they aren't bad at all. Still worth a little.
