In canon it's quite clear that the Defiant's phasers are the primary weapon systems. Beams only get fired a couple of times and usually to hit targets that are outside the cannons' firing arc.

    Such as in Pattern Suicide

So after skimming the thread due to time restraints I've noticed no one stated that certain fleet who now doesn't show certain things had released images and some info on.

    T6 Defiant = valiant class
    T6 Bop
    T6 Tvaro

so they are coming providing that cryptic doesn't decide to ditch them.

Yes, that was the last info/leak we had on that.

I guess the Defiant's biggest challenge might be - finding a mechanical design that isn't already exceeded by the Pilot ships.

Because seriously, the Pilot ships are the ultimate Escort so far. Pilot Maneuvers, high turn rate, 5/2 weapon layout. How do you compete with that? It'S not like the Defiant has to beat it - but just reach something similar impressive.

Will it get battle cloak? That might be the only thing that could set it apart from the Phantom (built-in cloak), the Pilot ships or the Heavy Escort Carrier. But that's seriously infringing on Rom and KDF specialties (even if T'Varo and BOP are likely to still have the better Enhanced Battle Cloak), and what to do with the old cloak console?

I guess I'll buy and fly the Defiant anyway, since I just love its looks. But so many people only look at stats.

I posted a T6 Defiant-related reply in some other thread. In short, I don't expect the T6 Defiant to be anything that special. Hard to beat the Pilot Ships. The Phantom has built in cloak, nasty Full Intel Access, Gather Intel. The Akira is your Escort Carrier.

Regardless of how the actual T6 Defiant stats will be, I know it will sell. Because there are lots of fans of the Defiant as the many threads that have popped up over her have, even before DR talking about the Defiant's last year before DR hit.

Something I didn't say in that other thread is this: Though it's very, very unlikely that the Defiant will be drastically changed, there are a few precedents with some changes in a converted ship. Not counting the typical T6 improvements of course.

    1. Official - The Qatel Raptor Escort Carrier is based off the KDF's Lv40 standard and Fleet Qin at T5. If one compared the BOFF stations, you can see the natural T6 improvements for it. What Cryptic DID to set it apart from the Matha Raptor and Pilot Ships is that they added the hangar bay on the Qatel. It became the KDF's first ever Escort Carrier in the entire game.

    2. Unofficial - One of the last things "the source" said was that the Ha'apax was going to be getting a Lance weapon. The T5 Ha'apax / Haakona family had no Lance gimmick.

Yeah, but I think that is all not that special. The Tier 4 Akira doesn't have a hangar deck either, they only added that to the Tier 5 version.

I suppose Cryptic could have taken the Tier 4 instead of the Tier 5 Raptor to make a Hangar Deck Raptor, but thematically, there are two arguments for the Raptor
    1) The Akira is classified "Heavy Escort", the Qin "Heavy Raptor". Even though they are on different tiers, still some name similarity.
    2) The whole neck/hull structure of the Qin seems to have a lot of holes/niches that could fit a Hangar Bay.

The Lance weapon is a bit more special, but it still is not without precedent that Retrofits add some new feature. And ultimately - lances could just as well be a simple console ability. Some special trick is always added with the C-Store Retrofits or Refits.

And there is another ship that has an extra weapon grown on it - The Patrol Escort Refit got the hard-installed 8th weapon slot.

I would be very surprised if they gave the Defiant a 5/2 loadout. Though maybe they might do something to it like they did with Patrol Escort?

What about (if we ever have one) the new T6 Defiant has a 5/2 layout, and if we use 4 Cannons of any type (DHC, DC, SC) we can see them if the were de quads? and of course the empty slot a nice litte quantum torp?

    what do you think?

It's been said before; nonetheless - Phantom class says hi.

Phantom class is HUGE and you can't use the Defiant skin/parts.

It's not the ship players want.

What would be a perfect special for the T6 Defiant...

    Dual Quantum Torpedo Launcher [Dmg]x3

Of course I would have no idea what to do with the other 2 ships, especially the KDF BoP as it has a noticeably singular torpedo launcher in front. Ooh, unless they change the visuals of the T6 BoP to have two torpedo launchers. I can see this happening.

It seems now extremly likely that it will be released around Season 11 (in October), since that season is supposed to be DS9 focused, and apparently Geko also dropped some hints in that direction in some podcast or so (didn't listen to the podcast myself, though.) Take the usual grain of salt with this info, but it makes sense to me.

geko dropped some hints? I'll take the whole bag of salt thank you. I'll believe it when I see it.

Some sources, not reliable and hopefully not in this case, say the bird of prey is going to be left out of the attack ship pack. If so, count me out.

Prometheus would certainly be 1 of 2 most eagerly awaited ships, the other being the T6 Hegh'ta. If they threw in a midsized attack warbird and put them in a pack, I'm likely to pick up the pack.

It was so cruel Cryptic Peppered Broken Circle with tons of Defiants.

That being said Im done with ships. I'm not buying nothing else from them unless I get a T6 Defiant. So it doesnt matter me how long they take and how much garbage ships they release in the meantime, they are loosing tons of money the longer they take to get the T6 Defiant out.

And it better have a Tac/Pilot Hybrid.

I put my Tier 5U Fleet Defiant out of mothballs today just to experiment a little.

    My observations:
    - With Reprocity, it has about 3-4 tactical bridge officer slots too many. A Pilot Hybrid anywhere there would be great.
    - Kemocite Laced Weaponry is frigging expensive, but interestingly, Rank III is the cheapest. I have no idea if it's Kemo or the Neutronic Torpedo and Torpedo Spread, but it play pretty destructive.
    - I haven't had a good look at the Refit Gallant or Vigilant Classes. Interesting, but I really don't get the point of those pylons. Defiant original and Sao Paulo are still the best.
    - Unfortunately only the Sao Paulo can use Material 6, the moment you add a part from any other ship, it reverts to Fleet.
    - Dual Cannons might be subpar, but not that much that it matters to me.
    - The Defiant is still a lot of fun to fly around. The only thing missing: PIlot manoeuvres. Which is probably also the one thing the Tier 6 Defiant won't have.

Defiant is one of the few ship on which dual cannons do not look horribly, visually speaking. I have the cloak from G-X and the quads, so maybe when T6 hits I will get it. But aesthetically, I'm too happy with my t5u steamrunner (except for the dc hardpoints / dual beam hardpoints locations).

One would hope that they'll make the Quad cannons more viable for the T6 version. They're actually not that bad, particularly now that the DMG modifier has received attention, but still draw power from engines .
Since it was basically an Ultra-Rare weapn when the best were very rare weapons, the engine drain might have made sense - but now, they don't.

Maybe they could make the weapon draw power from engines instead of weapons. So basicaly like Aux Phasers from the Vesta, this would be ENG Phasers. (But I believe if you can only slot a single one, it means you effectively would get no drain at all? I leave that to Cryptic to figure out)

That would be a bad idea, IMO.

Only 1 Quad weapon can be equipped on any given ship at a time. 1 Quad weapon isn't enough if you intend to run the ship similarly like the Vesta/Aux Phaser/Hi-Aux Power setup. Quads just don't do that much damage to be "it" as your energy weapon. You'll still need other energy weapons and they will be weak as a result of a Max ENG Power setup.

Good point. But what if it just drains engine power without actually basing its damage on engine power (instead still on weapon power)? SO not like Aux Cannons. ;)

That may be true for singleplayer content. But as soon as you are in a team you have to get the aggro to make reciprocity work reliably, that means you have to be a dedicated tank, which just doesn't work in the Defiant, it's way too squishy.

That is because the Defiant is the only Fed ship canonically seen to use cannons at all.

Not exactly. The NX and Kelvin use cannons that fire beams and the AU Constitution fires cannons.

The Fed T5 Escorts were originally split into Tac/Eng/Sci aspects being Defiant, Dervish and Prometheus respectively. Of course when the Tempest was release that kinda got throw out the window but that's another story.

I'm expecting the T6 Defiant will end up with the Ens Tac getting upgraded, the LtC Tac getting the Pilot specialisation and a 5/3/2 console arrangement. I wouldn't be surprised if it even got a 5-2 weapons arrangement. I'm not expecting there to be any universal bridge posts, the Hestia didn't get one so it seems unlikely a T6 Defiant will. I suppose they could also make the Cloak an integral part of the ship.
