My two cents is that we're not likely to see any changes to the Flagships until next year. A refit of the Enterprise should be, storywise, a Big Deal, which would be a good tie-in with the 50th anniversary.
THAT I had not thought of. And A mission surrounding it where you have to bring the ships in for retrofit. Elevating them to full tier 6! Where you actually have to play some mini games, scanning, Isolinar chips, maybe even add some new ones as you help upgrade your ship. BUT I would expect it to be account wide that you can do this mission ANY time after it.
re-release them with the following changes Improved turn rate. the ship spec console native to the hull IIRC< the Aquarius would be native to the tac, workbees native to the Engi and Chevron native to Sci. the set powers would still require the other two consoles. MAYBE add another console slot, and add the fifth mastery. if PWE is feeling magnanomous, discount the T6 of the T5 is already bought.
I think chances are high that a Tier 6 version of the flagships will also come as 3/9-ship packs that will be, as 3-packs, already be to fleet level.
But maybe a major reason for the delay of the Tier 6 version of these ships is that it's difficult to actually make 3 variants for some of these ships. I mean, mechanics are not the problem, but the artwork. I don't think Bortasque or Odyssey were designed for variant ship models and exchangeable parts.
Maybe mechanically, they are also waiting for the right specializations for them?
That said - so far, we have no precedents for Tier 5 3-packs being upgraded to Tier 6. So there is still a chance that they just do a single version of these ships. But it seems unlikely. 3/9 packs are lucrative for cryptic. The "savings" you get from the pack will convince most people to buy the full pack, where as with a single ship per faction they might only by the one they are interested in.
Well so far...every T5 to T6 upgrade has had access to it's T5 consoles other than the Vet ship...so unless Cryptic just does a copy and past except add stats to them...I would think it would just be a 1 console ship
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
I'd go a T6 Bortasque.
The flag ships aren't really that if they're sub-par.
Apart from the usual T5U > T6 improvements if they give it 1-2 extra in turn rate it'll be fine. Although with all the +turn consoles and traits we have these days we can easily work around that shortcoming.
I'd love to see the ability to use the Aquarius and the Saucer Separation at that same time. Make the ship a little bigger and add a Command Officer slot.
Wait why did ALL 9 need to go T5U? I own the Vesta 3 Pack and only the Rademaker got upgraded to T5U (I don't need the others besides their consoles and my Rademaker wears the vesta costume). But Yeah the flag ships need to go T6.
Defending The Galaxy By Breaking One Starfleet Regulation After The Next.
A T6 Odyssey is the only thing I have any interest in. So, would I pay more for a T6 Odyssey despite already shelling out $50 for the T5 3-Pack and another $7 for the T5-U Upgrade token?
Are you asking if I would shell out $60 instead? Without any discounts?
Yes.
Because I have no other choice in the matter if I want a T6 Odyssey.
Thankfully, I'm sticking to my guns and that will likely be the only T6 ship purchase I make. I'd love to purchase others. I love some of the other T6 ships -- but I don't love them enough that I'm willing to buy them all over again in a year whenever we get T7 ships or whatnot. Especially without any sort of discounts.
I'd have purchased so many T6 ships if Cryptic wasn't being unreasonable with their prices and making a business strategy on double dipping.
Right now I wouldn't buy any new ships. I am "struggling" with the ones I have - my toons haven't completed all the traits. Also the question is, how much does it improve my gameplay for those toons that would actually fly them. And how much do I want to drop the ships I got used to. Anyway, I doubt there will be a ship I'd buy in the near future unless it is completely tailored for one of my toons. The best bet would probably be a Rom Science ship. So not a T6 Scimi (which would be a problem and I certainly do not want it because if you want a serious improvement over the T5 it would be annoying as hell). So from my point of view, leave it until T7.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
I'd be interested in a T6 Flagship, especially with the Odyssey as I feel that it got outclassed by even T5 fleet ships. The only flagship I feel doesn't really need a major boost is the Scimitar, as I feel it was overpowered from the beginning (I love the ship however.) I don't have the Bortasqu' so I am not sure if it is in the same boat as the Odyssey. I would like to see a refinement of the actual model of the Odyssey, move it more to the quality of the Guardian cruiser and the Andromeda cruiser in terms of quality and a increase in size of ship. I would like the Aquarius to be in a hanger slot (It would be more appropriate than a console slot, its a whole damn ship.) I honestly thought that is what should have happened with the aero shuttle on the pathfinder as well. I also think that is needs a major boost to hull if one ship deserves to have the best hull in the game it is the flagship, no matter what faction.
As for whether or not its worth the money is irrelevant, as you can get the zen simply by grinding and have always been able to do so. It just depends on if you want to do the work, to get it for free.
I will by a Tier 6 or Tier 7 Ody (as someone suggested) regardless of its price, just love that ship. But I hope that when they do get around to making the Ody T6 they not only make it so you can use the Chevron and Aquarius at the same time, but also give it a slot for launching a wave of fighters and make a special "Combat pet" of the Captain's Yacht to fit in a 5th Device slot. Just some ideas.

With the T6 ships it is only a matter of time before they come out with a redesign of the Flagships. The Odyssey, Scimitar, and Bortas. Having bought all three. And Upgraded all 9 ships to T-5U. I have spent well over 190 dollars. So the Question I ask is if they do come out with FULL Tier 6 ship versions. with three existing variations for each one. It would be a 9 ship Mega bundle easy. 120 easy if they put it into the C-store. Frankly I don't want to do that and won't.
What I would like to see is a FULL Fleet Version of the Flagships. A T6 fleet version. With a level 5 star ship mastery power.
That way I could spend only a single Fleet module to get the ship.
I would expect for example the Odyssey to have added the powers of a Command Cruiser abilities. A Hanger Slot (or the ability to launch BOTH the Chevron and Aquarius at the same time). And a Console layout of 5, 4, 4.
The Scimitar, I would like to see it get an Extra Aft weapon Slot, a secondary Hanger bay. with the possible console layout of 4,5,4.
The Bortas, I am not sure. I would like to see a higher turn rate, maybe with the addition of a Hanger Bay, and Console Layout of 4,4,5,
What do you all think? I know I won't shell out 120 for improved versions of ships I already own. I know they have to make money to keep the game running. But show us SOME love in the pocket book.
No. Because:
1. The T5U Odyssey I have on one character more than meets it's needs.
and
2. My wallet is currently closed because of an issue with my sub being cancelled after only nine days, and support for the issue being a pain in the TRIBBLE$.
My two cents is that we're not likely to see any changes to the Flagships until next year. A refit of the Enterprise should be, storywise, a Big Deal, which would be a good tie-in with the 50th anniversary.
Ah but if they do upgrade the Enterprise in the story, players will complain that they should be able to upgrade their ship from T5 to T6 instead of buying new T6 versions. I'm calling it right now. The Enterprise is getting destroyed. Say hello to the Enterprise G.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
...and its difficult to sell a 6p set or even a new 3p set since even if it was a weapon set it would still take 2 weapon slots and something else (console or core) that by itself is problematic.
Actually it's really not. It's easier to sell a set, especially if you tack on a tiny, ultimately meaningless (since there's no per-unit production cost) discount.
The purpose of console sets is to make extra purchases appealing. If you have the T4 Galaxy and the T5 Galaxy, it (in theory) makes the T6 Galaxy a more appealing buy because it gels with consoles you have from the T4 and 5 ships. If you have the T6 and T5 you'll likely be more prone to pick up the T4 to "complete the set".
If you have the T6 Vet ship, then you already have the T5 Vet ship and vice versa. They don't have to try and weedle more sales out of you.
When it comes to the flagships... well, they certainly aren't going to give you the T6 ships if you own the T5. They also aren't going to give you the T5s if you buy the T6s. That's two (well, six... but two bundles of three) products they need to try and sell you on. They want you to buy both. They aren't looking to make one sixty dollar sale, they're looking to make $110 dollars by selling you six eerily similar ships in two separate packs (or maybe one giant one for, like, $90).
If you have three consoles of a six console set... the completionists are going to want to finish that out. Cryptic knows this. They prey on this. It's easy money. People like sets. Hell, look at the outcry from some of the KDF folks when the red piece of a blue/red/green bundle releases with no three-piece for red. Does it matter that most gimmick consoles are terrible? No. Does it matter that slotting several of them, even with the "set bonus" included generally lowers your overall performance? No. Why? As said, people like sets. That's just how it is. And they want to complete them.
I would go with the Vet console upgrade method with a discount for people that brought the pack since it would be easier on both sides.
... is going to happen over a marketing guy's dead body. Sets are about making more sales, not giving discounts. Not the effectiveness of players. Not the value of the consoles. It's about giving people some questionable incentive to buy more than they need. Plain and simple.
Whats the point of getting a T6 version of what you have T5U? Whohoo a trait thats independent of the ship & a few optional (but not more) Boff skills. Should they release a "Enterprise Class" version of the Ody/Bortas (i.e. one ship that has the advantages of all three which would make it truly the current ship-of-the-line flagship) I might consider it.
Since STO has to adhere to the basic laws of MMOs that probably will never happen; at least not without a complete overhaul of how STO works.
Whats the point of getting a T6 version of what you have T5U?
I agree. I got the Tac Oddy and all it needs is just to upgrade it to T5U and it'll just dance all over my enemy's graves. Heck, I'm actually hemming and hawwing about reviving my old Prometheus and T5Uing it, too. Or, hell, just taking the Mirror Escort Retrofit that's just sitting in my hangar and making it awesome. Just because it's not a T5U or T6 doesn't mean it's useless!
Uh... they do have more BOff skills. Aside from what I imagine you're referring to as the "optional" skills (Command/Pilot/Intelligence) they also have, flat out, more BOff powers. The Excelsior goes from 1 Commander, 1 Lt. Commander, 2 Lieutenant and 1 Ensign... to 1 Commander, 2 Lt. Commander, 1 Lieutenant and 1 Ensign. That's 12 versus 13. And the new power is at Lt. Commander, where most of the best abilities are.
Scimi is my all time favorite ship, ever since release I have only changed to another ship in order to acquire a ship trait or just messing around, Scimi is my go to beast so if they ever release a fleet variant or a full blown T6 variant I'd gladly throw my money at them.
I don't tend to use alts so I'd only get the one scimi pack rather than a mega bundle, but seeing as the scimi has pretty much lasted me two years or so I'd say that's money well spent and so a T6 version would be equally as epic
I would pay for the Pack on the Following Conditions.
Turn Rate gets a Major Boost! It's quite fast as is, just takes 3 Sectors to turn around.
Saucer/Aquarius/Hu'Sus Get re-programmed to work like a hanger Pet while still being a "Console", just let them use the Hangar UI, so they have nore Hull and are better controlled!
9 Starship Traits! I'll be happy with 3, if they are for the 3 Different Careers, and Available on ALL 3 FACTIONS
2 Spec Seating. One Seat Command, and one Pilot. replace the Pilot with a new spec if a new spec comes out.
To be honest I would like the Tac, Eng, and Sci Variants on the T6 to each have different Seating...
Tac- Command/Intel
Eng- Command/Pilot
Sci - Command/Temporal? or whatever the next spec is.
Aquarius Bridge, Gets a new "Origin" Interior using the Tutorial or USS Kirk as an Example!
Schimitar Bridge, gets Attached to the Lieset Interior (Capture the Flag). My God the interior already Exists, why can't this be a thing?
Bortesqu, has a good bridge, now but an update pass would be nice.
No more 9-packs for ships that are upgraded from T5. Best would be a 3-Pack Multi-faction. And there would not be a Fleet Version. These ships are already at Fleet Level.
Make some of these consoles inbedded capabilities, like the Tail Gun on the Patrol Escort Refit. Make one Console slot universal, not for Universal Consoles per se but that it can be whatever Engineering, Science, or Tactical. The three ship variants per Faction only shift around one console slot.
They should use a bit of imagination for these 3-Ship variant packs for Tier 6. Keep the lower level 3-packs but at T6 we don't need another $60 resale of the stuff at T5 ( or $120 for a 9-pack.). One Oddeysey, one Scimitar, and one Bortasqu'.

l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
So I guess the question is... if they were to condense the three T5 Odysseys, Scimitars and Borrasqu's into single T6 iterations... what would those stats look like? What would the power bonuses be? Would it have Sensor Analysis like the Science versions (minus the Scimitar)? What would the console layouts be? Doubtful there'd be an any-console slot, since if Cryptic was going to do that they'd have been selling it already on other ships.
A Fleet T6 Scimitar would be cute. However, fleet ships will never get a T5 meowstery, that's only for the normal T6 ships (for Zen reasons, so you have to get both variants).

They actually have! oO
But thats not a good enough reason to switch. Even less so considering the cash for the previous ship + the upgrade involved combined with the cash for T6/Fleet T6 asked multiplied by Cryptics fire & forget mentality when releasing stuff.
It's 3000zen for most of the other T6 ships; including the Command Cruisers, so would I pay more than 3000zen for a T6 Flagship? No! I even think that 3000zen is too much, especially if they've already been purchased previously. Hopefully if/when they come, anyone who has purchased the T5 bundle packs will get a discount (2000zen?), but I wouldn't hold out hope for that.
What I would want though, is for them to be different from each other. The existing Odyssey and Bortas are far too similar. I also think these ships (the T6 versions of them) should come with dual-specialized boff seats, ie; provide the Oddy with Intel AND Command powers, provide the Bortas with Command AND Pilot powers, and then provide the Scimitar with Pilot AND Intel powers; two new powers each, whilst no single ship is the same as any other faction's. Little bit of diversity.
I would also pray that, if there's a new skin for the ships, they give the job to someone that doesn't build lego. Few of the new ships are that appealing to me because of some of the design work that's gone into them. The Command Cruisers, the Intel ships, the T6 Battlecruisers etc. Fugly.
