so i was having a discussion with the fleet about what was the biggest ship in the game, in terms of mass.
one guy said that the Scimitar is the biggest, well in terms of size, sure, but if you look at the mass of the medium sized hull and the thin wings, it's mass is not that great.
another one said that the Gal-X had the greatest mass.
i personally think the Astika has the biggest mass, but could someone better informed here settle this? what is the biggest ship in the game, in terms of mass?
Maintaining peace through overwhelming firepower.

Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
Now volume is something that could be estimated. If we're talking player ships, I'd wager the largest are the Voth Bulwark, Elachi Sheshar and Scimitars. Then there'd be Klingon Command ships, BortasQu', Vo'quv, ...
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
My vote goes to the Sheshar. It just seems very massive in size and shape.
It's actually quite small in game and very thin. (Although by lenght, it's among the largest.)
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

The SheShar is obviously the most bigger ship. After that, probably the Bortasqu and the Voth Bulkward. And after that, really close the Voq'u. The Scimitar is big, but since that ship has already an incorrect size in-game it should not be taking in consideration.

Which is true of all but the Klingon Vo'Quv. That thing is completely solid, no holes or empty space like many carriers.
It's absolutely enormous.
If we look at the standard Vo'Quv design, you will see very obvious flight decks.
The boxy segment between the nacelle and the hull is one of the two flight decks.
Now the VoD'leh may appear more solid, but somewhere there has to be a flight deck. Visually it looks like it would have launch tubes ala Battlestar Galactica along the main hull, but that begs the question... how does that ship recover her fighters?

Why are you not rejoicing?
Tractor beam them in reverse right back down the launch tube.
Compare a kilogram of balloons and a kilogram of lead. Which has more mass? Which has more volume?
You should be looking at the inertia stat. Mass is a way to measure inertia. The more mass a ship has the more inertia it will have, if the devs didn't invert it in game. Heavier ships have lower inertia in STO, for whatever reason, so look there and you have the best answer.
Would you abandon a victorious warrior after the battle has ended? That's pretty dishonorable.
Not exactly practical. Also they'd have to be positioned perfectly to fit in. If they're off by a fraction... damage to both carrier and fighter could be taken, as well as the risk of catastrophic failure and death of the pilot. Also... ANY movement from either end could spell disaster, meaning both the fighter and Carrier would have to be at a DEAD STOP. The ship would have to have some form of Flight Deck to not only recover deployed fighters, but to launch and recieve other support craft such as shuttles and runabouts.

However, I can measure volume, though it takes some time per ship.
It's easiest for me to measure the ships that have already been converted to groundscale, since they are a single piece, and the proper size. Of those, here's a couple of quick samples:
Mogai - 141,942,147
Guardian - 295,548,486
Eclipse - 296,477,478
Odyssey - 356,201,070
(all are measured in cubic feet)
You go Tacofangs!
Completely forgot about the Atrox. Even though she's got flight decks that go all the way through... she's a pretty beefy ship.

Although, based on in game behavior the real answer is uber powerful cargo transporters that vanish the ship when it gets less than .5k from the carrier. ^.^
but ingame, how the ships actually behave, the vo'quv is the most cumbersome, nothing comes close
and the pets don't make up for it :-(
they seem to be the slowest turning and accelerating pets in the game, they fly like mini-vo'quvs
I used Slavers on my Mirror Vo'Quv, and they were awesome. Beams and mines everywhere.

For how it currently is ingame, though, it's main body is pretty damn huge. Ah, thanks, venerable Taconian. What would we do without your insight?
Btw, that Eclipse is really stupidly huge, not only is it pretty much the Odyssey's lenght, it's not that far off in volume too.
Oh, forgot mentioning the Jem'hadar dreadnought. That one would also place among my top picks.
The Atrox has actually sorta like onion layers of hull on it with plenty empty space (that intriguing design almost got me to buy it several times), and Obelisk even more. So I wouldn't count those as being the most voluminous.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

As far as "hit boxes" go, the all time winner is the Scimi. That thing takes up more room than a small moon!
Fun Trick - Grab a holo emitter of a very small craft, then go to a crowded air space like ESD. equip the holo emitter and snuggle into a tiny space between ships in your Scimi, then disengage the holo emitter
I mean the special frigates that would go with that ship, 4 bird-of-prey or something. I sprung for the elite versions and found them strangely slow to accelerate and turn. In general, pets with forward cannons are tough to use. Yeah ... I would imagine 12 slavers would be pretty fun. and ya, hanger pets with mines can be fun.
But I still setup the ship from time to time and try to make it go with the bird-of-prey hanger pets, just because it looks cool for a while
Hey, no one ever said anything about it having to be playable. Y'all just assumed (and didn't think of how far the definition of ship can be stretched). :P
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
just, looool. i can accept that you can be developer from different branch, but you have to have some way to imput composition, density...etc - since from where comes inertia number then ?
The Artrox is certainly the most massive ship I've flown.
But... When I upgraded to my Recluse (which has slightly better movement stats) I had trouble flying her. The Atrox is so big that you know she is going to powerslide, and she is easy to get doing it. The tiny amount of maneuverability I got from upgrading really put a damper on my sliding. It takes a bit to get used to, but once you do you can move that Atrox around like a drift racer.
