Love this shot, you mind if I add it into my rotation as a desktop background?

But I don't like running in higher rendering scales for too long.

Keybind the renderscale change using two bindfiles:

    Render_1.txt
    Multiply "renderscale 3 $$ bind_load_file Render_2.txt"

    Render_2.txt
    Multiply "renderscale 1 $$ bind_load_file Render_1.txt"

I have mine set to the [*] key, but you could change it to whatever key you want as long as it's the same key in both bindfiles. This makes the key a renderscale toggle.

Please feel free to do so, it would be an honor. :)

I got a question for you guys, why are sometimes my Screenshots in .tga format instead of .jpg?
The only thing i am changing is /renderscale sometimes, but even when using the same /renderscale value, it's sometimes .tga then again a .jpg. It seems rather random to me.
    Any ideas?

(sorry if this has been answerd before, i couldn't find anything)

Do you always use the screenshot command, or do you sometimes just hit print screen? That seems to make a difference when I take pics. Also, any pics taken during a cinematic always seems to end up being .tga for me.

During any cutscene or transition with black widescreen bars appearing on the screen, any screenshots taken with the screenshot button will always be TGA. This has happened every single time I tried taking a screenshot during a cutscene.

Also, if you hold alt and hit printscreen, it saves it as TGA.

Changing your Field of View for fun and Profit

/screenshot - saves a screenshot (without the UI) in pixel-perfect uncompressed .tga format in your game’s screenshot folder.

/screenshot_jpg - saves a screenshot (without the UI) in compressed jpg format. This is keybound to Print Screen by default.

/screenshot_ui - saves a .tga screenshot with the game’s UI

/screenshot_ui_jpg - saves a .jpg screenshot with the game’s UI

I usually hit PrntSc, then paste it into paint and save as PNG from there. I only bother with the other stuff if I want a HUD-less shot.

@Hypl: "the metrics demand your sacrifice" lol. :P Why yes, I can read Iconian. :P

I remember back in the early days of STO, fluidic space had this blurry wavy effect. But then later on that effect went away and was never restored.

    Here's a really old screenshot from 2011:
    qbCu0dj.jpg

You can see the objects in the background being distorted. The effect also produced these weird scan lines over objects. So it was probably removed because of this. It just wasn't being rendered right and looked a bit off.

I never really realized how badass the D'Khellra is until the new color palette came out.

That's pretty cool. I already forgot that they wanted to add a new and rich color palette for the ship tailor. Thanks for the reminder.

We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

Nice D'Khellra picture... Makes me wish even more that the ship tailor wasn't bugged for Fed characters at the moment...

Are the new palettes live? I've been meaning to make the Ramillies's red more red. Here she is flying past a badly rendered star:

Yes and no, Spyralpegacyon - they're in the game, but they're not working properly for all characters. KDF and Rom players don't seem to be having any problems, but Fed characters... the ship tailor is rejecting any attempt to modify any ships, from parts to hull materials to - you guessed it - colors and patterns, it's refusing to make any changes, you can try selecting something and nothing happens.

Like you, I wanted to use the opportunity to replace the old 'dried blood red' one of my characters' ships had with a nice, vibrant, 'Fire Engine red', only no-go until they get all those "cute" little bugs - ship tailor, character tailor, etc - that were introduced to the game today back out of it... I'll be honest - they're draining my will-to-play...

Did you try hitting randomize? There used to be a bug in the ship tailor where you couldn't modify a ship until you hit randomize.

Tried that - as have others - this seems to be a new bug.
