"We've actually identified the type of player power that is causing the massive slowdown. The command ships were the worst offender, so if you're playing a queue and the only thing that would have slowed you down was the command ships, you're solid."

Logic dictates that everyone who is still lagging HAS to upgrade his/her PC and contact their ISP!

You might also wanne replace your old cables in your houses before complaining about Lag and have your neighbour do that as well (just to make sure).

If you're still lagging then you should move somewhere towards cryptic's headquarters!

Wish it was my PC, least I could fix that in a heartbeat. Afraid it's all on Cryptic's head this time. Mm... I guess I could always try and go live in Cryptic's basement, should be relatively lag free there.

You should call your ISP or upgrade your PC (get 4xGPUs at least) before complaining about the lag!
Since the problem is obviously on your end!

APB was mentioned as a distant second...distant. All they were saying with it was that it was more resource intensive than it probably could be. Just a case of trying to improve overall gameplay over the course of time. There was lag before the Command ships were introduced.

Their tuning various abilities to have less of a load while avoiding changing their effect isn't a bad thing.

Because lord knows it couldn't be population overloading the server just like it was day of launch and every major addition after. Nobody put 2 & 2 together that this started around the time the anniversary event did and with back to back events to keep people busy in game comes lag? Server upgrade with better distribution is the answer. No matter how many times you rebuild, until the foundation gets fixed this will continue. Or just stop running events people get bored and log and pop problem solved. I don't believe for a second that an ability that has been around since the beginning is causing the strain. And if ya do I have some prime ocean front property for sale in AZ. Better yet I'll make ya a real deal on a bridge or two.

Well, been facing this lag since Delta Rising, and before that, everything was fine, not noticeable or highly tolerable.

My guess is, they purchase cheap servers, like in a damped environment, toilet server, etc. I believe they replace some existing servers with the cheap servers (STF, missions), while the decent host the general maps (ESD, Earth).

I mean Cryptic hasn't been doing well, since they aren't going to listen to their customers (gamers), they want us to Pay-To-Win instead of Farm-To-Win. Cryptic will listen to players that are loyally blind.

I find it funny that, in a thread where SarcasmDetector is present, sarcasm is lost to the masses.

    Ahhhh...I see.

Earlier today I was able to log into the game twice, no problems.
I was disconnected from the server around 4 pm Central time, and have had 23 straight crashes trying to log back into Holodeck since.

    GO CRYPTIC!!

At the end its always your pc. If you actually talk about FPS that is. The game is what it is, if they add more TRIBBLE that consumes more gpu/cpu then yeah, its at the end of the day your pc that can no longer maintain decent frames.

    Release Notes: May 14th, 2015
    General:
    • Resolved an issue which was causing some players to crash when loading in to the login screen or certain maps.
    LIES
The server (in)stability seemed to die down a (very) little the last week, but it's back with a vengeance. Whatever you did, you did not fix it...you (once again) made it worse.

Login2_timeout. Server not responding. Disconnected from server. Lag. Rubberbanding. UI delays. All our "old friends" are still alive and well and making it difficult-to-impossible to play the game. The game is becoming not fun and, if all you really care about is $$$, do you really think anyone is going to give you money in any way for a game that can't be played? It's pi$$-poor and we're tired of it!

Wrong. At the end, it's always the game server. Otherwise I (and others) would have issues with other games, streaming media, web pages, THIS FORUM if it was our computers or our ISPs or someone else's network/hardware/software. Some forum TRIBBLE even tried to blame Shockwave for the problem not too long ago.

They continue to use rock-bottom ISP service, do not QA, test, or repair their systems properly while releasing new content, and constantly blame everyone else (along with having their "white knights" running blocker for them here in the forums), but common sense says otherwise.

Sure, they claim the devs aren't responsible for it all, that (if they admit at all to it) it's a network fault and it's up to the network engineers. Here's a hint...if the server already can't handle the game and player load as-is, why do the devs keep adding stuff to it before it's been stabilized and repaired?

    $$$

But...if the players get pi$$ed off enough, are they going to stay or find someplace else to spend their time and money?

Someone in Cryptic/PWE is poorly motivated.

Also I notice that players keep going on about STF lag and the big debate is over Command ships and all that TRIBBLE. FYI, not everyone plays STFs and the lag/rubberbanding/SNR/DC issues extend beyond STFs and Command ships. Hell, I can't get through Blood of Ancients or Delta Flight (or the previous Uneasy Allies) without bouncing all over the sky/ground and DCing at least once a mission.

Right after patch today, I logged on and had SNR twice then DCed within one minute of login. All I did was bring up my DOff assignments.

It has nothing to do with Command or STFs. That simple.

Sorry but this is WRONG....this is from the new Mr EP that is beyond one's ISP or PC upgrades...better to KNOW the subject before judging others:

I was rubberbanding like a yo-yo last night.
The lag was far worse then before the patch.

I do agree the level of lag last night was terrible, i get lag but not normally to the point where the game becomes a slide show.

Yup, still plenty of lag. The command ships were only one of the things that produced it. If they were the only cause, the problems wouldve started upon their release. But I remember it wasnt the case.
For me at least, the lag started around S10. I think it also has something to do with the new skills like Kemocite weaponry and that subspace vortex. Kemocite skills are buged and proc like crazy, even a few times, while those vortexes never disapear if the map doesnt. I think in undine BZ are like hundreds maybe. That should have some impact on servers.
Also the Tier 2 passive trait from Iconian Ress reputation may be another cause of lag. Lots of small constant heals, wich in some cases are even carried over to pets via breen carrier trait.

Ohh and I am getting constant SNRs on load screens now after patch, wich I didnt got b4.
And I am more then sure its not my ISP, since I can download with 5-6 Mb/s.

well. The launcher lag is due to shockwave. That guy whining about someone pointing out shockwave forgot to mention that it was in regards to the launcher.

the ingame lag is due to too much information being exchanged. One reason why they're trying to improve the information flow by updating the spreadsheet. By reducing the information exchange, the lag should reduce. Remember, the lag got bad when we went from mk XII to Mk XIV. Too much info. Too many mods, too many items, too many abilities. Some abilities got to stack with others, causing too many calculations to occur, slowing your computer and the game down. This is a problem when playing civilizations. The bigger your empire is, the more cities, the more roads, the more units... the slower it gets. The more roads there are, the more calculations the game needs to do.

In other words, the game got too complex for the servers and our computers to handle. By reducing the amount of information being exchanged, there's less lag on the servers and thus the IPs don't choke us.
