Basically I start the launcher, window opens and remains stuck on "Loading, please wait" or before I can even start the game.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or it's WAI?
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.

that suggests that you already have a client running. did sto crash on you earlier? open your taskmanager and look for a running instance of gameclient.exe. close it if its running.
Issue keeps going. I tried deleting game files, including launcher and redownload it. Needless to say it didn't work.
Odd enough I've restarted on OS X, launched STO from there and the launcher kicked off just fine.
My internet's running smoothly, it must be something wrong with the Windows version. I didn't experience this issue until two days ago, but today it had become unplayable.
Even after multiple restarts it won't load.

Any ideas? Still not going to start up. Even if I get to the login screen it freezes shortly afterwards. Isn't there a way to reset the launcher or something?

lol I can confirm it's client side issue. I've reinstalled a clean copy of Windows 7 Pro 64bit, still no way around it.
That's some major fail.
Oh well, I have the chance of going to 8.1 finally.

ps. I can't even get to patch. So I'm stuck with the launcher and no game files.

I'll see what I can do, with my limited techno-sorcery.
Time to log in... Well that's hard. Sometimes the launcher will not even get to load the Sign In screen. Even if it does, it freezes while displaying that. Even if I log in, it freezes. It's strange, it never gave me such issues before. It started a week ago but after some computer reboots everything sorted out on its own. Two days ago it became impossible to deal with.
Running tracerts now, will post them asap. Didn't open a ticket yet, but I was willing to go in Live Chat with Support to help me out with that.

Just to clarify, when you just attempted to log in right now, what happened exactly?
Just tried launching it. Stuck on "Loading, please wait" on a black background. Won't go beyond that. The window isn't frozen by itself, and Windows is not marking it as not responding. anyway. However, it won't load.
I just finished talking with Live Chat, they were unable to help me out but forwarded the issue through email support, ticket 150507-000721 if needed.
Thanks.
ps. five minutes have elapsed, window is still displaying "Loading, please wait".

Did you just do the update? I always have to wait about 5-30 minutes depending on the update size for the game to start.

It's not because of that. It's the same issue I had on tuesday and yesterday, and even after a full Windows restore I couldn't solve it. It has to be a connectivity issue, otherwise I'd have solved it already.
Even after 10 minutes the launcher won't move from "Loading, please wait". Closed it.

Got it Trendy. It's Windows Firewall that's causing the issue... Probably.
I tried to completely disable it and magically the launcher started normally and began patching the game.
Tried re-enabling it, and after a brief hiccup, or maybe a slight delay not sure, it worked again.
So far so good, I'm patching again.
Will post again if I meet any further troubles!

Issue showed up again, after a few more tries it started.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I get the "Loading. Please wait." window, and it just sticks there.
If I close & reopen, occasionally I'll get as far as the UN/PW login screen which half loads, then stalls. I've rebooted numerous times. Made sure the firewall isn't blocking anything.
Often times I get this and have to close/reopen several times, but eventually I'll be able to log in, but not today. http://stostatus.com/ shows STO Game server, STO Patchserver, STO Controller, STO Account Server, and STO ErrorTracker all down. Router & modem have all been reset, and renewed IP. I'm able to reach any other sites I try. I'm running Win 8.1, and launching directly via "Star Trek Online.exe"

Well last night, after sitting at the loading screen for over an hour and a half, it finally loaded.
Tonight, however, same problem.
Too bad too, I was considering getting a lifetime subscription, but if this is the kind of trouble I'm going to have, and lack of attention from PWE....
Interesting! I'm not running a VPN, so not sure if this would do any good for me. From what I know of networking, the IP address of my WiFi NIC is dynamically assigned by my router so it may be different each time I reconnect. Maybe if I assign it a static IP, and run ForceBindIP with that? Hmmm..
This brought up the launcher screen with the ability to enter User Name & Password. This launcher appears to be the original one included on disk, which doesn't show the News links, or scrolling features.
After entering UN/PW, I get the following:

I'm now able to hit "Engage" and enter the game.
When the launcher stalls after entering the Username/Password, after some time the console will display the following:
Sure looks like bad scripting to my admittedly untrained eye..
Often times, however, when stuck on the black "Loading. Please Wait." screen, I'll get messages such as the following:
[0515/223329:ERROR:cache_util_win.cc(43)] Unable to move the cache: 0
[0515/223329:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(134)] Unable to move cache folder C:\Program Files (x86)\STO\cef_cache to C:\Program Files (x86)\STO\old_cef_cache_000
[0515/223329:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(221)] Unable to create cache
Now I know that since Vista, the Program Files (x86) and Program Files folders have been protected locations & often times will not allow programs to write/execute from those locations without administrator priveleges.
So I tried running the launcher as administrator (even though I'm using an Admin account), and this seems to have resolved these "unable to create" & "unable to move" errors completely.
It sometimes still stalls during loading, but this has cut down on the number of times I've had to close & reopen the launcher by a large degree.
For those who don't know how to do this, either right click your Star Trek Online shortcut & click "Run as Administrator" (assuming you're not launching through Arc), or else you can edit your shortcut by right-clicking the shortcut & going to Properties -> Advanced -> Run as administrator. You can also pull the User Account Control slider all the way down to the bottom (turn off), but for security reasons I wouldn't recommend doing this.
Another way around this problem would probably be installing STO to a directory outside of Program Files.
This isn't completely solving the problem & I often get stuck at the black screen with "Loading. Please Wait.", or after entering UN/PW with "Loading Launcher" at the bottom, but it's at least a step in the right direction.
Sorry for the long post, but I hope some people find this helpful!

that suggests that you already have a client running. did sto crash on you earlier? open your taskmanager and look for a running instance of gameclient.exe. close it if its running.

Odd enough I've restarted on OS X, launched STO from there and the launcher kicked off just fine.
My internet's running smoothly, it must be something wrong with the Windows version. I didn't experience this issue until two days ago, but today it had become unplayable.
Even after multiple restarts it won't load.
barring that try a force verify and if all else fails uninstall and re install.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
That's some major fail.
Oh well, I have the chance of going to 8.1 finally.
Reinstalled the game, check.
Reinstalled Windows. check.

Next. A couple questions. Have you opened up any tickets seeking resolution for the issue?

Closed it.
I tried to completely disable it and magically the launcher started normally and began patching the game.
Tried re-enabling it, and after a brief hiccup, or maybe a slight delay not sure, it worked again.
So far so good, I'm patching again.
Will post again if I meet any further troubles!
Edit: dead once again.
I didn't go LTS and continue to spend money on STO to not be able to play it
I get the "Loading.

Tonight, however, same problem.
Too bad too, I was considering getting a lifetime subscription, but if this is the kind of trouble I'm going to have, and lack of attention from PWE....
Not a fan of this solution though.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
When the launcher stalls at the black screen with "Loading. Please Wait", the console stopd with the following:
After waiting differing amounts of time on each try, I get the following:
This brought up the launcher screen with the ability to enter User Name & Password. This launcher appears to be the original one included on disk, which doesn't show the News links, or scrolling features.
After entering UN/PW, I get the following: I'm now able to hit "Engage" and enter the game.
When the launcher stalls after entering the Username/Password, after some time the console will display the following:
Sure looks like bad scripting to my admittedly untrained eye..
Often times, however, when stuck on the black "Loading. Please Wait." screen, I'll get messages such as the following:
