So, (given it's a week away and the state they've been in on Tribble since Season 10 started testing there); Borg Red Alerts as we currently know them on Holodeck are being removed and replaced by a simple "Kill 10 Groups of Borg Ships" standard Space Encounter.

Cryptic strikes again, removing fun content that players have enjoyed since Season 4 and replacing it with more cut and paste content.

    WTG Cryptic.

    Oooh ... another XP nerf-bat ...
    gg, Cryptic.

Don't tell me a toon must be 60 to get started on the season 10 arc.. then I have to grind another month before I'm even able to play the content.

I can't wait for April 21st so I can enjoy the SNRs, Disconnects, and Lag.

Then get told that Cryptic isn't going to do anything about it because it's just not worth the expense of signifigantly upgrading the infrastructure.

SNRs, DC and lags are already here, maybe it is an iconian virus?

I think, this is problem nr.1. The situation is not yet as bad as a lot of players doing single-player content deltra recruit . But what happens when the players return to the quick-missions and warzones ?

On the contrary, it'd make the Alliance even more badass.

"-You were warned! Your galaxy is forfeit!
-Never, we will fight you to the dea*beep* Oh, hold on a second, getting a message from command.
    -What?
-Oh, Risa just started its annual festival and there is a cool ship with pilot seating? Alright, heading there right away. Sorry buddy, but I have more important stuff to do. You're free to join us, though, the festival is open to everyone and your Heralds look like they could need some time away from their Sphere and its covered sun.
-... Oh, why not? We waited 200, 000 years, so what's a couple of months, anyway."

haha i started a whole thread for things like that, Just explaining things that are completely ridiculous. http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1421281

I'm kind of hoping the Summer event won't happen at all this year. With the Iconians invading, chilling on Risa is the last thing people should be doing.

I don't see an issue here. Plenty of time to win the war before the Lohlunat Festival. What better way to relax after an exciting war than sipping Risian mai-tais on the beach? :D

I had been hoping the war wound continue on into season 11 maybe next year. However, I think they are going to wrap it up quickly, probably with a coda episode around May 21st. Then it will be time to relax in the sun. Very nervous about what comes after summer vacation.

Tribble is a mess of fixes right now what makes you think this is going to work with 100x more players? Bad bad idea to release this now in this state.

Which raises the obvious question of 'why'? I don't see how the incursions in their current form would be incompatible with the sector space revamp. And I'm quite sure a study of logs would show that they are indeed a popular bit of content... they just have to make sure the Unimatrix vessels consistently appear on cue.

I can find no logic in releasing Season 10 a full month before the Delta Recruitment event, especially since the Recruits' stated purpose was to prepare the factions for the Iconian War. All this overlap is going waaaaaaay too far for any kind of rational story continuity, and as laggy as the game has gotten lately, I fear that the servers will be unplayable for the near future.

It's our way... "Our" = really Cryptic's way, with us having to be patient with the aftermath.

I'm concerned with the servers, they've been buckling these past couple of weeks.

Last weekend they were full, after season 10....... Well, The Iconians might not be responsible for all of the carnage.

Awwwww. I really like the Borg Red Alerts! I get excited every time I see one pop up.

Hopefully what they're replaced with will deliver the same kind of fun.

Well frak this. Why can't we have some time for the events, aka some time between events? We seem to b having several events at once, I'm tired of it. I barely manage one event, if at all.

And, uhh, what about the bugs and not-so-complete sector space, doffing?

No kidding. Some changes are good (higher level mark-dil exchange) and long awaited though.
Going to give cryptic the benefit of the doubt that all the lag is mere pre-patching, but i fear the opposite is true.

I wonder when the dx-11 fixes for nvidia will reach us.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It was planned for when it was planned...went to Tribble when it did, so when it was coming to Holodeck was pretty obvious. Ready or not, of course...cause that's the typical way. They've got production schedules and stuff ships when it ships. Where fixes will roll out for some things for a couple of weeks, and then it will be 2-3 months for some more...at which point it's time for the next batch of bugs. It's the cycle...bad cycle...but it's not a new thing. Can anybody remember when it wasn't this way? /shrug

    Wait, what? Link?

No link needed, it's on tribble and when you go into a red alert it takes you to an old-style enemy encounter (with borg).

Don't know if that's the final state, but that's how it's currently on tribble.

Well, that may be how it is - but it would be nifty to have a link from Cryptic telling folks that's how it is supposed to be or what the plans for them are sort of thing.

Appreciate the heads up, now I can plan some vacation time for the start of Season 10. I figure about a week should do. Maybe make it 10 days to coincide with it being Season 10.

Oh, not a vacation from work, a vacation from STO.

I figure if prior launches and word of mouth about Season 10 holds out, it'll take at LEAST a week before the game is stable enough to even bother logging in to DOff, let alone play. Get some bug fixes out the first few days, probably an emergency maintenance or 2 as well and maybe, just maybe by the weekend it'd be stable enough to play.

Except for the fact the servers will be flooded with players wanting to experience the new content. Which may make the lag some of us are seeing now look like heaven.

No biggie. The game will be here later and besides, I don't have all my alts to 60 yet to even try the new content, so it's all good.

    Edited to add...

I too would like some 'official' word on the state of the Borg Red Alerts. I like them as they currently are, aside from the command ship not spawning sometimes. If they are going to be turned into lame encounter style missions, a fun part of the game has died. At least for me.
