The armor is hideous, but all the bells and whistles look cool. i think the other rep gears are going to need some love, though. This set seems to outmatch them all.

I could go on but it would be longer than I want to explain scis are not as toothles as you think remember that the next time a sci ship makes an entire fleet melt before you.

You would be better served checking the Dyson deflector combined with the Romulan shield and Romulan engines. ;)

EDIT: The Romulan rep power is very nice every 5 minutes for 6 seconds. Just saying.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

First off how is the Solonae set sciency? so because it has some Particle Generators on the deflector its sciency? Lets look at the best set bonus on the set...which is the leech...'grants all energy weapon attacks" Who has the least weapon slots and probably the lowest weapon power? Science ships! So...the Grav Torp can easily be picked up by any Tac and it's much more effective in their hands.

100 to Sci skills? Big whoop...in case you haven't noticed they have over and over nerfed the effects of Sci skills on Sci abilities just to make it more non Sci based user friendly.

Not saying they're toothless but I'd like to see them "melt fleets" as you put it lol...and I can 100% guarantee whatever you consider *melting* a Tac will obliterate, incinerate, and disintegrate a 100 times better.

Just to confirm: There is going to be no open zone content coming with Season 10? It would've hit Tribble by now if there was. This really bites... :(

So they gave us ground and space traits with delta that heal you on critical, which was nerfed. Now we get Another heal on damage that will probably be nerfed. These items are so ridiculous, whelp don't get used to them.

Having fresh in mind what happened to reactive healing which went from healing ~80k over the course of an stf to ~20k, i.e. from my second-best hull-healing component to second-worst, I wonder if the nerf for this one will be in place before people even earn it:rolleyes:

Plus, a constantly-active % heal benefits high dps even more than the small-but-guaranteed amount for reactive healing, making the trait junk for most people and overperforming for edge cases.

Sure looks that way, I don't do any content in any game that requires me to be in a team, so it looks like season 10 is going to be a complete waste of time for me.

They also look supremely lazy, as if they were designed in less than an hour.
Just take a basic humanoid shape, make it shiny, draw some random lines on it, and slap some bits from the part bin on it.

The Iconian minds are entangled with chroniton states - it helped them optimize the grinding necessary to build their empire. I'll spare you the boring details.

This entanglement allows them to grind with exceptional efficiency, but it comes with a price. The Iconian mind cannot handle partying the way you or I can. Merely passing close to a source of club music can cause an Iconian to completely lose its memory of the intervening time.

Taris was a fool. The Iconians were never going to ask her to the dance.

Meh, although the gear looks decent with killer procs...I think I'll stick with my phasers. Y'know, to keep things interesting and more of a contest. Also, the phaser proc is STILL the best when it comes to wanting your enemy stood still for a second or two..or to stop shooting at you, or even to give yourself an opening.

I do have one question though - why are phasers vastly under-appreciated/underused in PvP?

Interesting stuff, but have to side with a lot of posters who are saying that there's not much for sci. The kit module is nice and AoE, the exotic damage trait is nice, and the console sounds like a must-have.

But I'm getting a very Command-like feeling off some of the bonuses, with a lot of team-wide stuff. Is that intentional? Is this a set specifically to boost Command?

That armour... I really hope there's time to go back to the drawing board with that. It honestly looks like clubwear. All the trolls are going to be wearing them in the most horrid colour schemes they can make, popping party balls.

This really needs to be changed before launch.

And the Iconians have so much to work with, too! So much of the stuff we've seen is nice shades of browns and tans, with a rusty red (especially the room Picard found), and a striking contrast of the blue glowing orb. There's got to be a way to work those into some kind of armour. Think Iron Man in desert camo.

The Solanae set parts have only two good science boosts.

    1) 2nd deflector is the best of the best for drain boats because of the shield leech added to drain abilites.

    2) The deflector gives +50 part gens, although now you can get the same with crafted deflectors.

I'm confused by the design of the different reputation systems in the game. What I would expect is with each reputation the overall system is improved upon the last.

    Omega
requires marks received by STF's, ground only adventure zone (partitioned by difficulty level) and a space daily
special item (BNP) locked behind advance/elite queues
(recent change to provide additional opportunities to acquire BNP's through defera)

    Nukara Strike Force
requires marks received by STF's, ground only adventure zone (partitioned by difficulty) and a space daily
    no special item

    New Romulus
requires marks received by STF's, ground only adventure (starting to move away from strict difficulty levels and a larger adventure zone), an entire sector of space patrols timed gated every 30 minutes
    no special item

    Dyson Spere
requires marks received from STF's, massive space and ground adventure zone (no difficulty difference),
special item (voth cybernetic implant - handed out like candy)

    8472 Counter Command
requires marks received from STF's, space only adventure zone (no difficulty difference)
special item (isomorphic injections - handed out like candy)

    Delta Alliance
requires marks received from STF's, massive ground only adventure zone (no difficulty difference), handful of patrol missions
special item (ancient power cells - locked behind advanced/elite queues)

    Iconian Reputation
requires marks received from STF's, no adventure zone, no mention of patrols
special item (locked behind advanced and elite queues)

    ***

it would seem as the reputation design peaked with Dyson Sphere and is regressing back to the first reputation system introduced - minimal to no adventure zone, special items locked behind advanced and elite queues, limited content to obtain required marks. whats really odd is the decision to lock the special item for the rep behind advanced and elite queues only after just recently providing BNP's to a wider audience after what I assume is years of complaints. Then the decision to provide no adventure zone further reducing the amount of content available to obtain both marks and special items (outside of the story missions) - not lending nicely to the "illusion" of grind since your playing less content over and over again. And all of this right after a huge drive to increase the number of players with the delta recruitment event.

    It's quite odd indeed.

While the club wear made me think Tron, that armor actually has me leaning toward 2009's Star Trek.

I think the best designed reputation was the Romulan one because there was a story tied to each tier you reached. The rest of the reputations are 100% pure grind.

They could have used that Kobali BZ and tied it to the delta reputation to reach each section of that story or somehow tied the Voth reputation to the dinosaur battlezone, but they went with the pure grind because they're lazy.

What is with the tier 3 trait. That is clearly meant for pvp since npcs on ground don't have buffs. the description is "Chance on weapon attacks to cause a moderate amount of radiation damage in an AoE and remove buffs from affected targets."

All you will have to do is get a team using that and omega and you can strip the other teams buffs. Even if it is just one buff at a 2.5% chance to strip buffs. That will break gpvp and it does nothing in pve. I won't gpvp with that in fact there is a good chance I won't play sto at all.

I don't disagree from a playable standpoint. New Romulus may have the most content available to get marks from any reputation system.

I'm a critic of some game mechanics and bugs for sure but usually stay away from bashing as I generally enjoy the game. But taking a holistic view of each system from Omega until now I get the distinct feeling laziness has played a key role.

It's been a while since I've played Kobali so my memory is vague there. I just recall not getting APC's nearly as much as I have ISO's and Cyber's - of which I have more than I would ever use unless I doubled up on each rep gear.

Definitely not handed out like candy like the Isos and Implants...but when they made the change to get BNPs from Defera they also added the ability to get APCs from the open missions attached to the last two missions in Act III.

Sooo, I think what all the newer content is alluding to is a HUGE Holodeck malfunction story-line!

    1. The holodeck is a grid-work of holoprojectors, and at least in Next Gen when turned off looks like a room with grid-work for walls ceiling and floor. Tron Legacy took place in a world known as "The Grid"

    2. How many episodes in all the Next Gen era series took place on the holodeck, and usually involved some kind of malfunction/accident that endangered the crews involved?

    3. How many of the "Episodes" currently in story-line in STO involve a holodeck malfunction/accident that endangers your crew? Answer - None!

I believe the devs have finally decided to make up for the lack of HoloDeck incidents by making one giant HoloDeck storyline! The newer Tron inspired looks of ships and uniform are the biggest clues! The Iconian "Herald" must be the Tron-like program attempting to clean the computer matrix of the "users". It could easily tie in to the Hirogen who love using Holodecks and brain remapping for their hunts!

The possibilities are endless if it's all just holodeck stuff! Even the name of the server is holodeck! They could easily wipe out all the in game story and just have your character wake up in STO-2 as an ensign who had been involved in an elaborate Hirogen Holodeck Program!

That's it, I'm gonna ask the Temporal Agent if I can go back in time to kill the inventor of antiproton weapons because this is becoming Antiproton Online.

Also, EDI called, she wants her chassis and holo-glasses back.

Should not for folks that might get too happy too quickly...it's a project. 5s duration with a 20hr cooldown.

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1423091
Added a project to exchange 100 Reputation Marks for 1 Elite Mark

Not a fan of the base armor look. Some of the components to it don't look bad to be used with other armors.

Nice power creep on the space set.

Yeah, somebody's going to have to explain that one in more detail.

Does it remove all debuffs? One at a time? Are certain kinds of effects/debuffs immune to the sensor sweep? How often is periodically? Is it a percentage chance to activate, or does it automatically succeed?

I wouldn't care if it was a chance to remove some debuffs over time.

But if it's too powerful, then there's a lot less reason to have BOFFs trained in skills that remove debuffs.

Tooltip states 1 debuff every 10 seconds.
