WOW is making the most money ever in all mmo's existing and has 10 million players on it. Why ? because Blizzard listen to their players, like EVE and correct their mistakes.

Cryptic do what they want, they follow a line and don't change of it. They over create content, a little too fast for me, and it causes bugs, lags, etc ... I loved LoR, but since they are not doing the best possible.

I don't play wow, I don't like the ******** universe. I like sto and Star Trek universe, but lately even if I'm logged in lots of hours, I'm not playing the game. I'm just repeating some foundry mission for dilithium, while reading or doing something else.

Yes the player base has the right to react excessivelly when they like a game and the devs don't listen.

I don't care about the iconic t6, never played the t5 before and will never do it. I bought a T6 but well I'm still using T5-u on 75% of my chars because the ship traits are rarely really interesting.

I played swtor and lots of other mmo's. The classes and factions were important, with different stories for them that was the essences of those games. (SWTOR has 8 different story classes from lvl 1 to close to 50 divided in 3 acts each with voices acting)
What do Cryptic ? same quest for everyone and every classes.
is it something good you think ? then you are not an mmo player if you think that !

Cryptic need to earn money to keep the game up, I admit and it's logical.
WOW just create a new content and they recovered 75% of their player base with monthly subscription. Good content make the player plays. bad content, issues, problem and ignoring players makes them leave the game.

The problem with sto is that it isn't a game that offers moments worth remembering.
Sto is a game about dps and the latest scam...I mean the latest c-store deal.

The wonderful thing about Eve it's that it offers diversity in gameplay. Aside from pvp you can do a lot of things, you can play the market game and make a small fortune, you can do wormhole exploration, you can be a miner or blow up miners, you can go low sec or null space and both offer a different experience. You can have epic moments without needing to do A B or C to get there and nobody is trying to force you to buy the latest c-store TRIBBLE.

The same things mostly apply to wow but in a different way, like it or hate it, wow offers some of the best storytelling in a mmo and offers a lot of diversity in gameplay.

Sto is a game about dps and grinding ... the only 2 story moments I can remember from it are:
Attacking a cube with a t1 ship and being turned into a drone. AS for diversity .. yeah ... go dps or go home, buy this and buy that and grind grind grind.

Why should Fleet Players have to pay $20-25 more to get the ful Fleet equivalent with all the abilities and items? The fleet difference isn't worth that much.

Fleet players only have to buy one fleet module if they already own the C-Store version.

To flip your question on you, why should Fleet Players get to buy Fleet versions of ships for less than a C-Store shopper?

Correction; They cared enough about making money to update the most famous ships to T6 to get people to buy them.

Even if greed is their primary drive, that doesn't mean they don't care about the source material or the job they're doing. These standpoints are not exclusive of each other.

All I can say is.. There better be a T6 Defiant or the Rage is great. There better be a damage boost so Cannon Escort builds can keep up with 30K+ Faw Cruisers or the Rage is great. Why does this sound like a Red Neck joke?

Better yet.. why don't they just turn Red Shirt into a PVP server and get it over with? :P

Hey OP, I was a star trek fan 10-25 years ago but never put on any Spock ear prosthesis and went to conventions each weekend. STO is also pretty much the only mmopg I have and probably will ever touch.

I consider myself neither a Star Trek nor a MMOPG Nerd. Yet cryptic managed to NOT please me with Delta Rising as well.

    - Massive SP nerfs to hinder game progression and not enough contend to back it up
    - Massive time/money sinks for upgrade but hardly any new contend to back it up either.
    - Massive quality issues as in bugs and game stability

I can’t speak for everybody around here but I bet if cryptic would tend to a few taken for granted thingies I could imagine that a lot of little nerds out there would feel compelled to complain less and focus more on the good parts this game has to offer.

that's one of my last statements, basic economics
My dislike for JJs movies had nothing to do with Star Trek, it was that they were badly written. It wouldn't have mattered WHAT setting was used. It was just badly written.

2009 was bad writing, Into Darkness was a pretty good story imo.

I'm just really annoyed the new Galaxy doesn't come with the Saucer Separation console. I want the new ship, but I want saucer separation (its iconic to the ship!)…but to do that, I have to buy TWO ships. No. Instead I'll buy NONE of them.

The Galaxy-R costs 2k zen. The Venture costs 1.5k zen if you're interested in the less iconic 'anti-matter spread.' The game allows you to turn in game effort into zen so this can be had for no money spent. Get what you can now, turn the rest of what you want into a future goal. And just be happy that the developers took into account the likelihood that some players would want "all the Galaxy stuff" on their Galaxy and added a set bonus to offset the disadvantage that your iconic ability will put you at.
WOW is making the most money ever in all mmo's existing and has 10 million players on it. Why ? because Blizzard listen to their players, like EVE and correct their mistakes.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Unpleasable fan base?" I'm going to pretend like you didn't because it gives me the opportunity to explain what it means. A fan base can get so large that it becomes impossible to not TRIBBLE somebody off. Make a decision, move in a direction, make a change, somebody will get mad. Blizzard has one of those in the World of ********, which is why if you go to the World of ******** forums right now, you will find no fewer than 10 posts ******** about how World of ******** has been ruined in their general discussions section.

Star Trek Online is also lucky enough to have a fan base that's large enough to always have somebody who is pissed off. In this case, STO developers have apparently angered the, "Why can't my new Galaxy be more like in the show" crowd and the "Why can't my Galaxy have 4 tactical consoles" crowd.

You've clearly never met an actual nerd. True nerds are never happy. We're a perpetually un-satisfied people, because whatever the Developers/Writers/Directors do with our particular fascination, it'll never be just the way any singular nerd would have done it.

But yeah, we don't need to complain about everything. Jesus people, there are positives to what Cryptic are doing post-DR.

There's fleet ships, but they wont have the traits: the rage is great
the costs of a fleet ship with all modules is the same as the cost of the t6 variant of it, plus 1 module for the Fleet version; the rage is great

Page 2 of this thread was the most interesting read I've had around here for a while. Almost kinda thought about the Navy way back, but everyone I know who ever served in any branch of the military told me don't enlist. Or that if you must go in, go in as an officer.

Gamers have gone from enthusiastic lovers of games to spoiled brats who are never happy. there is a ton of reading about it and u can really get the idea that gamers have become a me me me crowed who will ruin games more than a bad story or gameplay ever can.

I proudly wear the nerd badge, but as soon as you see me raging about something related to STO, that's the signal it's time for me to shut down the game, uninstall it and move on. People take this game (and themselves) way too seriously.

    To clarify:

Galaxy class (aka, exploration cruiser retrofit) released way back.
Fleet Galaxy released when the other Fleet ships were released.
T5U option released under a year ago.

In the past 4 or 5 years, the Galaxy thread people have been pushing for something to boost the damage or science potential for the ship. LTC tac, universal ensign seat, among others were proposed. Hypothetical 3pack stats were even suggested by DDIS and others at some point. But regardless of all this work and research, the Devs did nothing to change the Galaxy's boff seating or increase the number of tac consoles, while charging us 500 ZEN for fleet modules and 700 ZEN for T5U upgrades. So basically we would pay for the same problem.

Now they've released the ship we've always wanted - Ens Uni, LTC tac, and 3 tac console slots, and a new costume to boot. Only a small fraction of Galaxy enthusiasts are displeased with the result. I hardly see any "rage" about something that shows Cryptic is taking our suggestions seriously in addition to making profit, as opposed to just making profit as they have done in the past. Please check before you post*. Thanks.

*if your "Iconic ships have 3 tac consoles; the rage is great" refers to that idiot's post here, ignore him. He's just complaining because he can, not because he has a logical reason.
