Cause nothing on there is inspiring my to grind zen / buy zen for it!
Im too in love with my Vesta to ever switch ships, i would imagine its the same for people with a love if other hard/soft canon of preference...
My vesta is who i am in space, its ingrained to my main, i would totally grind/buy a t6 if there was proper t6 version of my vesta (or my ambassador, my kumari, my krenn, etc etc on alts)
Would love some inkling that a t6 revamp is coming for all the other hard/soft canon ships...
And maybe a t6 constitution?! Hmm (yea yea cbs whatver lol)
I have the same view with my t5-u ships, the Regent and the fleet avenger are still very capable ships though I've found with CCA, the free Fed Dyson has been very good when upgraded.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
I hear ya OP! My Lethean SCI has a FT5U Kamarag which I am very happy with. I purchased a T6 Cruiser for my Rommie. Up until then he had exclusively flown a FT5U Mogai. I miss it and will probably go back to the Mogai after today's patch. I've looked at the rest of the T6 ships and I kinda feel...meh...about them. They're nice and some of them are really quite beautiful, But I have been playing this game long enough where I don't feel a compelling urge to rush out and purchase the very latest shiny as soon as it comes out. I get a kick out of showing up for an STF in what everyone thinks of as "inferior" equipment and outperforming them handily.
I have the Vesta pack and until you brought it up, I had not really thought about which ship I want my Fed Delta Recruit to go swanning about in. I'm thinking you're on the right track here and I intend to follow your lead.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Yeah, I don't care for any of the new ships, and even if they were to make T6 versions of an Excelsior or Defiant, it'll be a gamble pack like the JHSS, requiring hundreds of dollars, or a $30 ship pack just to have a slightly better version of a ship I already have for a ton of money. Nah.
Right now, I'm still in my Pathfinder for one, maybe two reasons:
I like to fly my Science with Cmdr and Lt Cmdr Science BOffs, and the "canon" two energy & a torp loadout. Therefore, on the Vesta, I only have three tac powers, BFaW/CSV, Torp Spread, TT. (IE, I fly her with the Luna's BOff seating). I've gotten her into the lower to mid 6k range.
Pathfinder? 4 Tac BOffs, giving me AP-B to go with the torp and beam spreads and TT. Somehow, even lacking that 5th science console to fit part gens into, I'm clocking in around 9k DPS, and this is "missing" the massive spike from the deflector phaser console...
Of course, the only reason I even dropped the money on the Pathfinder was to fly her for the trait then I was planning on going back to the Vesta. The Pathfinder Ablative trait (temporary hit points every time I pop a shield heal) can help either the pilot while tanking and/or the recipient of heals...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Still flying a T5-U Fleet K'tinga Retrofit. Everything is Mk XIV Epic. More than sufficient to play against the hardest PVE situations. Hull is over 76k and shield facings are over 26k.
I still use my T5-U ships; vesta, avenger, dhelan, risian cruiser (this one is underestimated). I have bought the faeht, but this was a waste of money; i don't even use it for now. maybe if cryptic release a fleet version, then it will be interesting again.
T6 ships have nothing more than the others, except 1 boff slot (i can live without it), some space traits, but few of them are interesting
1 point is important for me: a lot of the new ships are just ugly :P
I agree with the OP though I did by a tier six simply because I've always seen my main cpatain in an intrepid and had left it behind for the Vesta so I decidedto pop for the new interpid since i had some saved up stipend and i laready had the other twi intrepid set pieces.
Anyone who says T5-U aren't viable for end game just doesn't know how to build ship. T5-U has been and will continue to be perfectly capable of handling any end game content for any faction.
I jumped to a T6 because I liked the ship and simply put.. I wanted it. It was never because I felt I had to in order to remain competitive. I can still jump in my T5-U Fleet Assault Cruiser and outperform a good portion of captains flying T6 ships.
How you build it and how you fly it make all the difference. Some of the T6 Traits make it a lot easier (Reciprocity, All Hands on Deck, etc) but none of them are a 'must have.'
If you love your T5, fly it and enjoy it. If anyone tells you you're wrong, block them.. they're stupid.
I picked up two T6s (Romulan light warbird and Fed Tac Command) and have all the free ones to date. Most of my characters have (or will) go back to their T5Us once I've got the relevant T6s ship traits unlocked on them, not because they're bad or anything but simply because I really like them (wouldn't have upgraded them otherwise) and I'm not going to shelve the things now a new "shiny" is out. They're more than capable of handling anything I plan on doing in this game after all.
I haven't found the T6s to be especially superior to them, mostly regarding survivability if you slot higher level Command/Intel powers instead of your more typical ones (and if you don't then you might as well be flying T5Us in the first place :P). Playstyle's different enough for them to be an interesting change from "normal" ships though, and those two I bought are quite beautiful IMO.
Aelahl takes a lot of finesse to keep alive though, took me months to get the hang of it :P
While you could be effective flying even a T1 ship, T6 does offer some significant bonuses. An additional boff seat, especially at Lt.Cmdr, is powerful. Intel debuffs and Command buffs benefit your entire team. But what you're really missing out on are the traits.
With traits like Reciprocity and All Hands on Deck build possibilities open up. On my Dauntless, I am able to run all 13 different Boff powers at or near global, without the use of A2B. OSS lets me pop 160+ power Grav Wells, TBR, HE, TSS and PH. And the Emitter Synergy trait buffs up my partgen damage. Things the Vesta alone can't do.
Until we get a T6 Vesta, which I'll buy in a heartbeat. For me, going T6 is about build synergy. So they haven't released something that appeals to you yet, just wait, they will.

This is truth.
My KDF flies the K'Tinga T5-U with Mk XII gear, and he is effective and does things like take 1st place in the CE event now and then. He can manage anything that I'm willing to try (I've avoid the new Elite queues on all my characters so I can't speak to those).
However my Fed in a Mk XIV equipped TAC Command Cruiser with the traits noted above is a world better in every measure. And that makes things like grinding patrols go much faster, and as a result he's much more fun for me.
Even so, my KDF won't give up his K'Tinga. It works, and that's the ship I want to fly. Here I take style over substance.
For the most part, that choice is still possible to make in this game. I like that.
I bought the T6 obscenobundle just because I have never spent much zen and I had the urge to do something with five years worth of stipends. My klingons fly the T6's because, really, they don't do anything other than doff raiding so they have the base loadouts flying around DS9.
I flew the the Fed Commands and the zombie ship long enough to get the ship traits. I flew the Presidio for a few more days, long enough to get a good feel for it. It's okay tanky, but the dps is about 15% lower than the near same build on a T5U Fleet Avenger. Averaging 18k dps in ISA to the FA's 22k dps with both being flown to give broadsides.
I did up this comparison for another thread but never posted it. Guess I'll wall o' text this thread with it.

My Joined Trill Sci captain flys the tac Vesta in a nasty torp boat config and I love it. I have bounced around on my Tac Captain though and tried out the Command Cruisers and I do have a great build for a beam boat Phantom. I do however step back to my Fleet Avenger from time to time and it is still a blast to fly like it always has been.

None of the T6's appeal due to cost, that said I've gotten my main a Fleet T5-U Arkif Carrier Retro, I love escort carriers.
My soon to be delta recruit will most likely end up in the Fed escort carrier as well, although she would be better in a sci. I just love the escort carriers.
And I know the T6's have hangars, they just aren't worth the real money to me. Have a mortgage to pay off

It's good to hear a player who values fun and a characterful (demi-canon) ship over MOAR POWAH NOW!!!

T6 carriers, properly done and we'll talk about some zen buying.
The fleet atrox T5U is fine for now.
