Checked mine, same issue. Shields reporting significantly lower then they were, unslotting Field Generator or Field Exciter makes no difference to reported shield amount.
I ran some missions and stuff, the discrepancy shields still appear to be fine, I don't notice any difference in play.
I try not to question the methods and ingenuity of our players any more. There's always somebody out there capable of defeating any task put before them.
Why does this surprise you?
You used to be one of us, remember?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I know Borticus said Crystalline Entity mission isn't the best example for the problem, but I will say, for whatever it's worth, that I've been running 16 characters through CE daily since it started on March 5th, and I have not noticed any increase in difficulty due to shields (or any other factor).
I don't think we can go on anecdotal evidence every thing is fine.
I mean there are professional posters on this forum who no matter what the issue is claims it has never happened to them and everything is working perfectly. "I've never had my tray reset. Ever. On 200 toons."
but anecdotally, I've been running a variety of missions today. I cant say there was anything unusual about the shield per se. Its my hull that's the issue. Stuff is just chewing up my hull.

Totally agreed! Also, psychologically, posting a wall of numbers just helps to put the Dev into the "Eh, it's all just a reporting error." mindset. Even when those numbers are correct, they're still just anecdotal evidence, pertaining to that player alone. What needs to happen, is for the Dev to look at the metrics from *his* end (with whatever debug tool he has at his disposal).

Maybe your hull gets chewed at more rapidly because half your shield cap is gone?!

I thought it was just me, but the last couple days, my ships' shields have seemed to drop alot quicker than I remember, not just on CCE, but in the Undine Space BZ as well...
Fleet members have also mentioned their shields seem to be randomly changing strength (approximately halving) from one moment to the next, when they are sitting idle...

Especially what you're describing here is what I suggested earlier; namely, that 'blinking' on the UI does not necessarily mean it's just a reporting glitch, and that shield buffs could be actually applied/removed intermittently (due to whatever bug).
Which is really why I urge the Dev to investigate this thoroughly, from *his* end. Shields, and their buffs, are such a core functionality, that this issue should, IMHO, be treated with the same sense of urgency as, say, Japori paying out too much XP.
Just tested the bug in combat against some Breen and the shields seemed to hold as usual. So I guess it's just a disply/tooltip bug.
Yeah but I have a different shield and different gear/skills and different bonuses at play.
Something else I have also learned from this forum is some people are level 30 and have TRIBBLE gear that dropped rather than complete sets, 20 odd traits etc. so their frame of reference is limited.
I ve never had death wobble but then I don't own a Ford SUV or Truck.
Thinking about it more, it's been in Cryptic's modelling/graphics engine since at least Issue 4 of City of Heroes (when they introduced jackets that could have a chest symbol over the breast) so it's been more like 10 years, at minimum, so I was giving them a lot of leeway on their urgency.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

Thanks, I wondered what happened. That explains a good bit.

But someone at PWE already had that handle, dammit!!!

or clipping for com badges on females (who likely have overly large TRIBBLE)
I sincerely doubt that you want that kind of urgency, since that issue has been around for over five years, and is still not actually fixed.
It did make the Delta Recruit announcement that much better:
"If the badge fits..."
