Nice try at a T6 connie... Not going to happen though.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I can see starship R&D coming along soon, adding a console slot, increasing a station slot level, adding a 360 degree midship weapon slot, adding a device slot. To name but a few
but one idea is crafting parts i suppose eg nacelles, saucers to adapt them to look like another maybe like the starship tailors
Everytime I see complaints about the same thing

This was discussed a few years ago. One of the issues raised is that the majority of the fan base would be flying the Connie Skin All of the The Time! Can't have that now, can we... :roll eyes:

I'd love them to offer true micro-transactions for parts of ships. Say I have a Tac Vesta but I like the nacelles off the sci version, I pay say 100 Zen and get access to that single part in the ship tailor.

Purely a cosmetic thing, it would allow people at least within ship 3-sets to get access to more customization options.

I think forcing players to pay 3000 Z's for a whole ship when all the want is a hull part for another version might sell then lots of ships but i'd hazard a guess and say just as many if not more people would by smaller packages containing only skins, components etc.

You can already buy character costumes, why not go further and offer ship costume pieces too.

If its really a MAJORITY of the ppl then...... how do I put that? Why is it a bad thing to give people what they want for their money in a free time - hobby thing like a video game?

    Because it wasn't the majority...

These posts pop up on occasionally, then die down quickly...

I don't know about this but if I could take all or part of the BO loadout of one ship and plug it into another ship of the same class, there are some ships I'd buy to do that.

That would also solve a lot of the T5U vs. T6 ship issues if we could just plug those specialization BO slots from the Command/Intel ships into our older ships.

I'd like to propose idea of buying ship layout (stats, BOFFs stations, consoles and weapons slots, etc.) plus skin instead of buying whole ships as we have now. I believe that my idea can generate additional profit for Cryptic and please some players.

Whole idea base on the separation of skins from ships layouts. Which mean when I buy for example Patrol Escort layout I can give it any escort skin I want from those which I already poses from any tier. Only limit would be that escort layouts can use only escort skins, sci-sci, cruisers-cruisers. I believe that many players are fans of ST universe and want to fly iconic ships like Galaxy. Unfortunately current Galaxy layout is outdated and simple weak compared to newer ships. My idea would allow those players fly Galaxy skin ship with stats of any other cruiser type ship they want/poses.

OK and where is profit for Cryptic? Simple, players who want use different skin on different layout have to buy two ships instead one. And maybe in the future they will sell skin packs as they did before.

i like his idea a lot but keep it by class so cruisers can swap cruisers skins only etc.

What i mean is, apply the skin/model of a ship to the stats/abilities of another ship.
    Will never happen.

To reiterate, what would be the only outcomes if this was implemented?

    1) Driving more c-store sales. People would have two new reasons to buy C-store ships that they didn't have before. Firstly, to get the ship for its visual appearance, for the purpose of using on a different ship that they liked better. Secondly, buying a ship for its stats/layouts, for use with a different visual appearance.

    2) Making people happy by enabling them to have the visual appearance they like best on the ship layout they like best.

There would be no other consequences except these two things.

From a business standpoint it is a great idea, since it drives more C-store sales. From a human standpoint, its a great idea, since it makes people happy.

It could influence PvP but I think if you limit it to class, MOST of the concern is alleviated. You might go one further by tying it to size and class, making a distinction between Heavy, Medium, and Light Escorts, Science Vessels, and Escorts.

Well there is simple solution for PvP, and many games use it. As we have only queue PvP by arenas, customization on those maps would simply be turn off and all ships would be display with default skin for specific class/layout.
